Cady Colette has learned to structure her days in the ordered stacks of the smallest library in Upstate New York. Living in the heart of the serene Finger Lakes, she has downshifted more each year since the disappearance of her husband six years ago—without a trace. Just as her life is regaining a hard-won equilibrium, and she starts to open up to Eric and a bit of romance, tragedy strikes her small-town American life again. Can she handle another unsolved mystery? Will it leave her locked permanently in the void of the unknown? Will Blue, the investigator who never found her husband, have more answers this time? Will their efforts to team up end in a cold case again?

I loved this book because it focused on my hometown of Waterloo, NY and the neighboring Seneca Falls. The main character, Cady Colette is a librarian in the public library where I worked upon completion of my Master's degree. This mystery novel actually focuses on the Women's Convention Days in Seneca Falls. The organizer, Rosalind McClintock, is a strict high school English teacher in Waterloo and is murdered! Various suspects are grilled throughout the novel. I especially liked the mentions of places near and dear to me such as Wright Avenue, the street I was raised on. I recommend this to local historians and fans of mysteries.
I particularly enjoyed this book because I live in the village of Waterloo. Susan got the surrounding history nicely intertwined in her writing. Even the streets she named were real. Great story and characters. I will be looking forward to the next book in this series!!!
Local connections but still had a hard time getting into the book. Didn’t feel vested until around page 220 or so. The whodunit was easy to figure out.
Great read. I hope there is more to come with Cady and Blue. Professionally and personally. Will we ever know what went down with Ros and Ron? Who did they own and why? I'm excited for the next book!
