Erotic and HILARIOUS! Sexy and Side-splitting funny. It just doesn't get better than this!!!!! I could not stop reading this book. I read till my eyes went blurry and couldn't see the words. I laughed so hard my sides hurt! The characters, the writing, the story were all ..... ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!
Carla is a 41-year-old lawyer who has worked hard to get where she is but to do so she’s sacrificed everything else - including her sex life. Best friend Janet is a air hostess which has gained her enough sexual escapades to last a lifetime and is why she tries to encourage Carla to let go and have fun. Carla does not think she has too until she meets her new neighbour is both cute and young - and it eventually turns out he’s an escort that prefers his clientele to be elderly ladies. Usually he has a no neighbour clause after a previous experience but Carla is persistent and will not take no for an answer. However, along her sexual discovery, forty one year old Carla learns things about herself that she can’t quite wrap her head around - especially her feelings for said twenty five year old escort, Jake.
After the release of Fifty Shades of Grey, erotic fiction has become as mainstream as your crime and romance fiction. It’s on your top bestseller list and not hidden away in the back anymore and it’s no longer something women whisper about. Many authors have embraced this and DuChamp’s erotica are some of my favourites. Yes, they’re a little vulgar and not for a sensitive audience but they’re well written. The friendship moments between Janet and Carla are witty, fresh and I do actually think DuChamp writes them the appropriate ages which is harder with a heroine over 35 - seriously, how many do you see? It was refreshing to be in the mind of an older character and the cougar aspect of twenty five year old Jake was a perfect touch. The moments between Jake and Carla were hot as well as moving when they had their brief sentimental moments.
There’s not much more I can say about “Want it Bad” without splashing the world spoiler all over. It’s not a fanfiction favourite “porn without plot” but it’s a smutty love story that I read all in one sitting because it was just too good to put down. What’s a real fun fact is that DuChamp is a pseudonym for two authors (J.A. Konrath and Ann Voss Peterson) and if this is what their brains can come up with then I’m in for the ride. DuChamp, you have a massive fan in the reader and I can’t wait to read some more of your works.
Unusual storyline with oh so funny laugh out loud dialogue but also very very steamy! Did I say steamy? Jake is so unbelievably talented I wish he was real! He will be in my fantasies!
Started good. Janet the best friend is hilarious. Jake the escort is appealing but Clara? Not liking her at all. I find her completely dislikable. Couldn’t get into it after I saw her behavior.
Wow. That was fun. I don't usually read erotic books. But I'm curious and wanted to try a new thing. I expected an easy read, but nothing special. It was an easy read indeed, but I enjoyed it very much. The book is rather professionally written and made me laugh out loud more than once. Immersing into BDSM/kinky world was curious, it was completely new for me. I believe it taught me some interesting lessons about women sexuality and the traditional sex as well. The whole book is from woman's point of view! Not quite surprising, but again unusual to me. More than once I couldn't tear myself away from the book because I really wanted to know what was going to happen next or the action was very engaging. Sex scenes were very well written, although sometimes I felt they were a bit long. The final was a bit disappointing. Too predictable to me. Still, the book entertained me more than I expected. Well done!
The authors claim that this is feminist, but it really isn't.
Carla constantly slut-shames her best friend, and then when she starts doing sexual stuff, she starts slut-shaming herself.
The biggest red flag here is that Jake makes Carla do things she's uncomfortable doing, and things she actively says no to, even going to the point to say that they scare her. Like, he forces her to say that she wants to be spanked, even though she doesn't, and then when she gives in, he gives her the choice of a paddle or a whip. The idea of the whip terrifies her and makes her uncomfortable, so she chooses the paddle. He uses the whip anyway, simply because he wants to, despite him telling her that she's always in control, yet she feels too scared to use her safeword.
Loved this story. It was a fun easy read. Not too much drama, just enough to to make it interesting. The crude best friend was hilarious in the beginning but I ended up being disappointed n the way Carla dealt with her. Jake was perfection, and the sex was HOT. Good summer read while hanging at the beach or poolside while you're checking out the hot young lifeguards. Haha!!
Although it made for a good read there was too much of a resemblance to the 50 shades trilogy to express liking it on its own merits. There was even one scene in particular that was snatched right from the book being that after a rigorous night in the pleasure dungeon Carla must be carried back to her room but oh it's not the guest room it's the "master suite!" I originally wanted to read this book because it's a writer who I happen to enjoy only is under a pseudonym and secondly I try to read an erotica book once or twice a month it's like having junk food after eating healthy all week lol. Hope you all enjoy as well happy reading
I’d never read a romance or sex type book but knowing JA wrote it, I knew I was in for a ride. I thought it was raunchy but the story was great. There were ven times I laughed out loud at the exchanges some of the characters had especially with the cop at the station. Really good stuff Ms. Melinda!!!
I am very impressed with this book. The details of everything he does and everything she is thinking about are just out of this world. I almost enjoyed this more than most reverse harem books that I read.
I mostly enjoyed the book. I gave it a 3 for the sex but a 5 for the comedy. The dialogue between Carla and Janet made me laugh out loud so many times. For that it was worth reading.
Forty-one-year-old Carla is a successful, rich attorney who has just about everything in life she could possibly need—except a satisfying sexual relationship. Her best friend Janet continually harps on Carla’s lack of intimacy. When Carla’s new neighbor turns out to be a sexy, young escort who specializes in pleasing older women, Carla finally takes a chance and explores her newfound sexual appetite.
Jake has shied away from relationships his whole life, choosing instead to please women with no attachment. But he has rules for his clients: they’re not allowed to touch him at all, he never gets involved with a neighbor, and he never falls in love with a client. When Janet pays for a session with Jake for Carla, Carla has to convince him to break his rule about neighbors. And as time goes on, Carla finds she really wants Jake to break his other two rules as well.
Want it Bad was an extremely amusing, hot read. I didn’t think those two qualities could fit together so well, but DuChamp was able to make everything about this story work well. The banter between best friends Carla and Janet was laugh out loud funny. Janet is completely crude and can turn any statement into sexual innuendo, so if crude humor is not your thing, this book might not be your cup of tea.
I’ll admit some of the situations in the story weren’t realistic, like how often Carla peeps in Jake’s window, Jake having “an old friend” whose house he’s living in and who leaves her dog all her money, and Jake being a virgin, but the rest of the story was so well done that it was easy to overlook these issues.
Carla was a strong character who showed growth throughout the story. Even with her back-and-forth indecisiveness, she continually made progress in opening up to the sexual experiences and accepting that it was okay to enjoy the things she craved. And the heat was off-the-charts hot! I would call this BDSM-light, since their explorations dealt with safewords and pushing limits yet there was no focus on an actual Dom/sub relationship.
I did think the actual romance took a backseat to Carla’s exploration and realizations, but there was enough to the relationship to make it a good story with more plot than porn.
Want it Bad is a must read if you enjoy a hot plot with crude humor. I would definitely read more by this author.
A sexy, fun and light read It starts a bit slow, but very entertaining (with that motormouth of a best friend), and picks up momentum in the second half which I read through in one sitting. Sometimes laugh-out-loud funny, sometimes more pensive, I could relate to the main characters and found enough depth to keep me sympathizing with them (which is not something I take for granted considering the genre). The climax with Denzel on the window is hard to believe and borders on the physically impossible, but it was funny enough that I didn't mind. I really liked the ending - not some sappy happy forever ending, but a a tentative HFN approbriate to the characters. A quick and satisfying read, and yes, I didn't choose this word randomly :-D
Carla is rich and curious. She thought she had her life together. Till Jake moved in next door. He works as an escort. He specializes in very kinky sex. When he takes Carla on as a client it seems they each may have gotten more than they bargained for. Want it Bad is the story of Carla a smart ,older, Rich women who goes on a journey of sexual discovery and finds love or at least something just as good. The story is erotic with laugh out loud humor at times it is funny, sexy and truly outrageous. This isn't your usual erotic romance book. If your looking for a fun erotic read i recommend you read Want it bad.
She is your average lawyer who worked hard to become partner in the firm. In life she always came second or at least any personal pleasure did. Then he comes into her life. Jake is everything she could ever imagine. He is sexy, friendly, with one heck of a body. Only he happens to be a escort who is fifteen years younger than her. With a dare from her friend she lets go of her prudish ways and gets him to agree to help her open up her sexual boundaries. They are supposed to stay unemotional during her sexual exploration but what are they going to do when that becomes impossible?
He didn't do relationships. She was over forty set in her ways. He moved in next door serving to the older women. She tried wrapping her mind around what he did for a living. Almost always getting caught looking in through his windows when he was with a client. Her BFF set her up with an appointment she tried to cancel but things got heated when she went over and told him she was his 8 o'clock appt.
This was a pretty good, lighthearted read. I found the humor to be forced rather than naturally funny. Though I'm usually up for some immature humor, it lost its appeal early on in this book. The writing was good though and obviously the sexy scenes were very well done. The angst and romance felt a little hokey to me, so I was left feeling "meh". I think this is a good read for turning your brain off and having a little bit of sexy fun, but I can't see rereading it.
I liked Carla and even got lot like her best friend until the end. Then she just plain passed me off. The male MC (Jake?) Was okay except for when he acted like a kid. Of course the finale was kind of dumb. Also, the whole book hypes you up for the actual "love" scene and it was literally one sentence. That totally sucked. Not a reread and not a recommended read.
Carla is an uptight, successful lawyer, and Jake is gigolo...ahem...escort. Carla wants to test her sexual limits but still stay in control. Jake wants total control of every one of Carla's orgasm. They embark on a journey that blows their minds, but can their journey lead them to mind-blowing love? I hated her best friend Janet. How can someone so put together have such a train wreck for a best friend?
Pure fluff, and knowing that's what it would be I should probably give it a higher rating. This is sort of vanilla BDSM erotica (if that's possible?) plus an unlikely love story. My biggest objection is the characterization, but again, romance/erotica, so what should I expect? Fun in the context of what it is.
I totally expected this to be the usual format, and it was. Except it was so much more. The plot line was indeed normal for a romance, and the sex more steamy than most. What was totally out of the park was the fantastic dialogue! I have never laughed sooooo hard. I woke my husband who was sleeping in the next room, had tears and made my stomach hurt. Way to go!
The writing itself wasn't bad. I just had a hard time connecting to the characters. I think for Jake being an escort, there could have been a lot more salaciousness to the book. The big reveal at the end wasn't too exciting. The storyline had potential- the chemistry between Jake and Carla could have been stronger.
A fun, lighthearted, easy read. I enjoyed the main characters, but the best friend, Janet, drove me insane. I would never be able to be friends with someone like that, so the relationship between her and Carla was a little farfetched for me. The sex scenes were plenty hot and the author painted a good picture of the action.
I'm not going to rate WANT IT BAD because it's really not my type of romance novel, but I quickly read it cover to cover. It's exactly as advertised: crudely funny, wildly sexual, impossible to put down (unless you're easily offended), and actually a romance novel.
Holy smokes this is hot as Hades. The age difference is not a big deal to me so that is just rubbish for me. The sex is hot. Jake is hot. The story is entertaining. The sex is hot, oh sorry, I said that already. Mmm Mmm Mmm, hot hot hot.
SWEET SEXY READ, VERY GOOD EROTIC ROMANCE, LOTS OF LOL HUMOR, QUITE INFORMATIVE ABOUT BDSM. TASTEFULLY DONE. THIS WAS NOTHING AMATEUR LIKE FSOG WHICH WAS HORRIBLE AND STUPID TO ME. I LOVED THE TITLE AND THE COVER, VERY SEXY. ;D
