As the CEO of Stone Enterprise, I wasn’t used to hearing the word “no.” The way I conducted business wasn’t always legal, but that’s the thing about owning everything I no one could tell me I was wrong. Owing me was the worst thing you could ever do. When I collected on a debt, I only accepted two payment your life or something I deemed valuable. When I laid eyes on Fable Walters, I knew she would be the perfect payment for a debt she hadn’t accrued. She was beautiful, intelligent, a hustler, and more importantly, she didn’t fear me. No, she loathed me and never hesitated to prove it. Our battle for control was unlike any other. It was overwhelming, relentless… We were perfect for each other. We didn’t have an ordinary love. It could only be described as Obsessive Love. And I dared anyone to try to take her from me.
✨ To be honest, the ending is what really saved this one for me. For the past three books, I haven’t truly felt the romance between the couples. Yes, they’re sexually compatible and often entertaining, but the actual love and emotional depth? It just hasn’t hit the same. 💔
This author has written dark, intense stories before where the love still shines through Sasha and Judge are a perfect example of this balance. But lately, the formula seems to be: unhinged MMC we don’t really get to know + “tough damsel” FMC. The connection feels surface-level, and I’m missing the moments that make me root for them as a couple. 😕
That said, I am invested in the mystery element and plot threads unfolding. I personally wish the books would skip retelling previous events from another perspective it hasn’t added much for me, and I’d rather move forward.
I'm excited to see how everything plays out! My guesses are KO, or it’s Corinthians cus I remember she had some real traumatic stuff going on that we only saw partial glimpses of it in the other Numbers/Bible thumpers book. I mean Javien wrong for his actions but he’s not wrong about them talking all that mess and being susceptible cus I’m still not over all 394749 of them letting legacy get assaulted.
Anyone else have theories? Help me close the gaps! 🧩
Also it’s time Aubry started putting the Family tree up cus I be tryna connect the dots and still be forgetting people like just a nice family tree of everyone 20 and up lmao cus yeah
I hate a cliffhanger real bad🫠. the timeline paralleled Hood Legacy so we got to see things happening from a different perspective. As a MMC Pyrite was definitely touched & pretty delusional if you ask me. But Fable for sure matched his energy. I always wait for the part of kidnapper romances where the FMC softens towards her captor and they fall in love. But my goodness did Fable fight this man (literally & with good reason ) the whole book lol. I guess she softened in her own way, but I would have loved to see a shift sooner and see them actually settle into a romance. Because if nothing else it just felt like they had good sexual chemistry and lots of hateful banter. I didn’t feel love. As always these books are very character heavy in that there’s 84922 characters mentioned for you to keep track of. And with the breadcrumbs that were dropped in here that I can see leading to potential future books I might have to draw a diagram or something. The mysterious & suspenseful elements are probably the best/strongest part of the book.
THIS BOOK REMINDED MY SO MUCH OF MENACE BECAUSE PYRITE KIDNAPPED THIS WOMAN 😭 BECAUSE HE SAW HER ONE TIME IN HER BAKERY AND DECIDED SHE IS MINE,HE KILLED A SECURITY GUARD BECAUSE HE TOUCHED HER WHEN SHE TRIED TO RUN AWAY😭 HE PUT A MONITOR ON HER WHEN HE WAS EATING HER 🐱, HE TIED HER UP AT HER BED BECAUSE SHE HAD A ATTITUDE AND KEPT LOOKING AT HER THROUGH HIS SECURITY CAMERAS AND HE LOWKEY KIDNAPPED HER BIRDS TOO AND KEEPS ARGUING WITH ONE BECAUSE THE BIRDS KEEPS SAYING BITCH ASS NIGGA 🤣🤣 BUT SHE IS MATCHING HIS CRAZY BECAUSE WHEN SHE WAS MAKING FOOD SHE PUT SPRINKLES OF CITRUS KNOWING DAMN WELL HE ALLERGIC FOR IT AND SHE GOT SO JEALOUS BECAUSE SHE THOUGHT HE HAD A GIRLFRIEND WHILE HE WAS PURSUING HER ,SO SHE PUT A WHOLE SPICE OF CITRUS IN THE FOOD AND SHE ALMOST KILLED HIM🤣🤣 SHE BEAT HIS ASS WHEN HE WAS MAKING HER MAD AND THERE WAS OND TIME HE SAID ITS GIVING I’M GETTING ABUSED WHAT WILL MY FRIENDS SAY 🤣😭 AND SO MUCH MORE HAPPENED SO DEFINITELY GO READ IT
THIS BOOK WAS AMAZING AND I TOTALLY RECOMMEND IT BUT READ THE ANOTHER BOOKS FIRST TO UNDERSTAND CHARACTERS
I am pretty vested in the families and lives of these characters.. the author definitely has created a world all her own.
With that said something was different with this one.. we got more of a wrap up of previous stories than we got of the actual main characters. It was more like an interlude.. felt more like a prequel to the next book than it did an actual book or continuance of the series.. like a Summary of everything if you will.
You will enjoy this book if you love the different families but I fear you will struggle to connect if you looking for the love story between Pyrite and Fable.
I’m obsessed with this book Pyrite & Fable were both completely unhinged but I loved it. I’m need answers though lol. Miss ma’am left us with all these cliff hangers I was not prepared for !!!
First of all… who TF DIED? All I know is it better be a side character that I don’t care about. And why tf is Zoey in jail? Is there a part two or we are just getting Zoey story next. I’d also like to see fable and pyrite really settle into a relationship. But like either way, girl hurry it up and don’t keep us waiting. I love all the friends and family dynamics.
I definitely need to go back and read the other books, I felt like I missed a bunch of things 😩 😫. However, I'm glad that Fable and Pyrite sort of got their happy ending.
Boy, was Obsessive Love by Aubry J true to its title! Pyrite Stone was obsessed with Fable the moment he stepped foot in her bakery. He used her no-good brother and father’s massive debt as an excuse to claim her, but he never planned to let her go. From the start, Pyrite made it clear that while he might’ve locked Fable up, he wasn’t the one in control—she was. He kept her safe, worshipped her, and didn’t hesitate to put belt to ass when needed. Even though she didn’t come willingly, he was gentle with her (until he wasn’t—iykyk). Aside from her freedom, Fable got everything she wanted and needed. Pyrite leveled up her business and let her thrive—he was the definition of Mr. Make It Happen.
I love a heroine with a backbone who still gets weak in the knees. Fable didn’t take any shit from Pyrite and never hesitated to let him know when he had her messed up. But from the moment she was taken, I knew she was gonna fall in love. I mean…when a man prays while he’s in it—what else can a girl do but fall?
Obsessive Love was so well written, and I loved how it overlapped with Hood Legacy. I’ve never read books that run on the same timeline like that. And that cliffhanger? That ending had me damn near yelling at my Kindle! I have so many questions that need answers.
Aubry…if you’re not in the basement finishing the next book right now—then what are you doing???
Dang it Aubrey J! That ending was everything. I love this addition into this amazing world that you’ve created. Pyrite is just as touched as the rest of the man and women in their family and friends circle. There were definitely some good glass in here, drama, and suspense. I had questions, but I’m not gonna ask them here because I don’t wanna spoil it for anyone else but needless to say I enjoyed this book almost as much as I loved Genesis’ story.
Toxic, chaotic, and so addictive. Pyrite was a soft psycho with a mean streak, and I loved every minute of his crazy, obsessed love. The kidnapping drama had me locked in, and Fable, the heroine? She held her own and threw hands when needed 😂
Messy, intense, and worth every page. Aubry J did her thing!
That ending. I don’t know how to feel. I’m mad, sad, happy and scared all at once. I can’t handle this. I need to go see the lady and sit on her couch. Especially because I thought Pyrite was romantic lol
I’m telling you, it be the people you share dna with that do you the dirtiest smh. Every time I think you you did your big one with a book, it’s like a voice in your head says “nahh, got bigger!”, and you got times 10 lol. I don’t ever want to leave this group alone 😩😩. How you gone cut the umbilical cord by the end of the year?! I got separation anxiety issues, you gone have to figure something out 🥺🙏🏽😩.
From Hood and Legacy’s book, I knew it was going to be a time with these two. Pyrite said that was his woman and couldn’t nobody tell him differently, not even her lol. Javier Jr said he was going out with a bang, ya hear me! I need to know everything he got going on because ain’t not way. Also, that’s why you can’t leave everybody enough rope because they’ll use that time to plot smh. Mrs Mary, Nadine and Athena were a TIME! And yes a boohoo cried again; it’s different reading it from somebody else pov. Starburst is my favorite character outta everybody. It’s him, Zoey and then Krude lol. I honestly think you should do a part two lol.
Let me say this upfront—Obsessive Love came with a whole cast. And yeah, the author gave us a heads-up, but whew… it still felt like trying to remember everyone at a family reunion where half the folks brought plus-ones you didn’t ask for. Names, nicknames, backstories—it started to feel like homework trying to keep up.
Now, the main characters , Pyrite and Fable were straight fire. Loved the edge and intensity that made the story worth sticking with. But the flood of random side characters? Most of them didn’t bring enough heat to justify their screen time, and the constant switches made the story lose some of its punch.
I wanted more focus, more depth, and a tighter grip on the heart of the story. It had flavor, no doubt. Just needed a little less clutter on the plate.
I have so many questions!!! She warned us she was going to be setting the plot for other people stories but i feel like because of that she wasn’t focused on Fable and Pyrite’s story.
ANYBODY WHO KNOWS ME KNOW THAT I HATE CLIFFHANGERS 🤬🤬🤬!!! NOT ONLY THAT BUT SO MANY UNANSWERED QUESTIONS, LIKE WHO WAS JAVIEN BIH AZZ TALKING ABOUT🤔🤔🤔 WHO’S FUNERAL WERE THEY ATTENDING 😳👀👀👀🤔🤔🤔 WHO TF IS XOEY BEING ACCUSED OF KILLING 👀👀👀🤔🤔🤔 4 1/2 FOR ALL THE REASONS I MENTIONED 🤷🏽♀️

GOING THROUGH THIS QUEENS CATALOG FROM BOOK ONE UNTIL NOW HAS BEEN ONE HELL OF A STRESSFUL, IRRITATING, LOVING, EMOTIONAL, YET JOYOUS FULL OF LOTS OF LAUGHTER RIDE! I GUESS I’LL GO BACK TO READING WHAT’S IN MY LIBRARY😢😢😢
The many twist and turns. I wasn't ready. Now, i need to go deep diving for the when the next book will be released.
I started this book series with Fire's story. Then went back a few books to get an understanding of that "branch" of this huge family and friends saga.
Now, i love the relationships and how they come together, but now the underlying connecting story has me intrigued and can't wait for it to unfold.
Pyrite was mentioned in other books because of his connection to another character. He always appeared serious and about his business. Now that business is blooming, obsession is on the menu. And who is he obsess with, the sister of someone that owes me big dollars.
When he saw her, he fell hard and fast. He was frustrating me cause hiw you just taking someone's chocie away from them!!!! Any how, its a book, right? right!!!!
Fable is the daughter and sister if men that are bad with money. Her brother offers her up as a debt payment and that is how she meets Pyrite. She finds him attractive, but she fights agaisnt his heavy handed tactics. As she should!!!! I only wished her birds gave him hell and locked on to his head or shoulder!!!!
Eventually she face her truth of how she ferls about him and they work at a better relationship, but then soemthing happens that may affect them going forward.
Aubry, come outside! We’re not gonna jump you, I promise! 😭 For real—we just want to talk about how good this book was.
Let’s start from the top: I’ve never read a story that managed to be both insta-love and a slow burn at the same time. Pyrite came in like, “This is my forever,” and Fable was like, “Boy, are you dense? I don’t even like you!” 😂 She stood on business, okay? But Pyrite held his ground too.
Their banter? Everything. And their pet?! Soooooo freaking cute. I think this might be my first time seeing talking parrots in a book, and I’m 100% here for it.
I love that Fable stayed true to herself and focused on growing her business. Low-key, I was hoping the author would throw in a few recipes with her illustrations at the end—that would’ve been so dope.
And let’s take a moment to appreciate how Aubry set up the next few books. We got a little peek at what’s coming without it overshadowing Fable and Pyrite’s story.
I love Xoey plus twelve. We saw so much more of her in this one, and I’m so hyped for her book. I just don’t know who I want to hear from next!
I have to be honest, I was ready for Fable and Pyrite’s story to wrap up about halfway through.
The story had its usual laughs because Aubry J is genuinely a master at humor. The funny moments landed, the family interactions still worked, and the world itself remains the strongest part of this series. That said, I just didn’t connect with Fable and Pyrite the way I wanted to. Their constant back-and-forth started to feel repetitive and draining, and instead of rooting for them, I found myself wanting the story to move on.
The ending did improve things and helped redeem some of the earlier pacing issues, but it wasn’t enough to fully make up for the lack of emotional connection I felt with the main couple. What kept me reading was my attachment to the broader cast and my investment in what’s coming next.
At this point, I’m more than ready for Zoey’s book. I’m still interested in this world and these families, and I’m hoping the next installment brings back the spark and emotional pull that made the earlier books stand out for me.
There was a lot happening in this book, and Pyrite and Fable’s love story was definitely unconventional. From being kidnapped to falling in love with your captor, their journey was unexpected but entertaining. The story had me laughing and engaged throughout, and while I enjoyed Pyrite and Fable’s dynamic, I couldn’t help but feel like something was missing.
Xoey was a standout character and added a great layer to the story. I’m really looking forward to seeing more of her in the upcoming books. While I didn’t mind the intertwined storylines and numerous side characters, I questioned the point of mentioning some of them when they didn’t truly contribute to Pyrite and Fable’s relationship.
I don’t mind a good cliffhanger, but I felt that more could have been explored regarding Javien Jr.’s threat. In the end, Pyrite and Fable didn’t necessarily get a “happy ending,” but more of a to be continued. Either way, I’m definitely excited to see where the next book takes us!
This book was okay in my opinion and I really didn’t feel the love/obsession that they supposedly had for each other. It felt more like possession on Pyrite’s behalf and Fable fought Pyrite like the whole book. I would have liked to feel the love way more than just being told how they felt about each other. I know that we were forewarned that it would be a number of side characters but we should have also been warned that the book was going to end on a cliffhanger. I get that the author wants to draw us in to want to read the next books but it didn’t make sense in my opinion to have a funeral scene without saying who was unalived when the black car opened fire at Hood and Legacy’s engagement party or who exactly Javien Jr. had impregnated with his son. I don’t understand why Javien Sr. is still alive with Pyrite knowing that he’s plotting against them in war that Javien Jr. spoke in regard to. I’m trying not to lose interest in the story line but it’s kind of getting boring in the never ending continuous story line book after book.
If you want a good laugh, Aubry J. delivers every time…. Ok! The characters are ridiculous in the best way, and Pyrite? Fully unhinged… but lowkey sensitive. Fable’s focused on her bakery and not easily impressed, which made their dynamic even better.
I loved how Aubry weaves in characters from other books without taking focus off the main couple. That’s not easy to pull off, but she does it.
And the spice? Chef’s kiss. Fable was out here teaching techniques, okay?!
Also… I love Xoey +12. She might be my favorite and I already know her book is gonna be a masterpiece.
The only thing I didn’t love was the instalove… Pyrite came in hot. That’s more about my personal taste than the writing. He was ready to give her the moon, and I was still over here like… sir, what did she say to you? But then again, I guess the title warned me it was “Obsessive Love!”
Although I am happily married (heeey Bae), if I were single my prayer would definitely be "Dear Lord, please NEVER let this type of love find me, Amen."
Pyrite was a level of crazy that was too crazy for even fiction. And Fable, chiiiiiile, she was as crazy as him. Different. But still as crazy in her own way.
This story made me laugh out loud, a lot- but admittedly it felt more like a story about everybody else, especially Xoey - then featuring Pyrite and Fable. There were a lot of cameos from a lot of past characters and some I don't recall reading about- even though I have read all the related books. The ending also made me mad- which I am starting to feel like is Aubry's mission, because WHY? I am gonna have to wait for the next 2-3 books come out before I tap back in because I don't like waiting to see what's next with all these "branches".
That ending had me all in my feelings!!!…I need to know which one of my branches was taken off the tree!!!… I love the dynamics btwn Pyrite and Fable!!!…I love the havoc she gave right back to him, even though she didn’t realize it was turning him on!!!…Pyrite wanted to make sure that Fable understood exactly what was going on and she finally understood the assignment and got on board!!!… Javier Jr dropped all kinds of fireworks around that warehouse and they were not prepared!!!…That bought and paid for revelation with the baby being the prize made my stomach hurt!!!…I hope Javien Sr is made to pay for all those sins!!!…He was allowed to walk around far too long!!!… Xoey + 12 was definitely that friend that will challenge you and make you smile too!!!… Xayne and Xia are about to tear some mess up about their baby girl?!!…
Listen! I tried really hard not to like Pyrite’ I mean..,, kidnapping? Ok seen that before…… but an ankle monitor? 🤣🤣 He stayed doing the most! Sis wasn’t much better! The fact that Fable was a mini gangster in her own right made them click and I had to stand down with my dislike. This book is also hilarious! Any time the DeCortes are present you know you in for a good time. There is a cliffhanger and imma need Aubry J not to do that anymore unless the next book is lock and loaded and ready to release! Cuz really?! I will give this warning: DO NOT I REPEAT, DO NOT EAT OR DRINK ANYTHING WHEN YOU YOU’RE READING THE CHAPTER WHERE PYRITE GIVES THE LADIES A RIDE TO RUN THIER ERRANDS ( Ch 27). YOU’RE GONNA CHOKE OR SPIT IT OUT! YOU’RE WELCOME !SHEISTY MASKS?! 🤣🤣
I knew from chapter one that this story was going to be amazing! It was ludicrous, impracticable, & absolutely hare-brained! Those are all compliments btw! I loved it from the very beginning!
I started from the beginning nearly two weeks ago & I’m sad, now, that I have come to the end of Ms. J’s books—for now— but she has given me SO SO MUCH to look forward to in the near future!
Some people don’t, but I love a good cliffhanger & this one was…definitely one for the books! Like the soap operas, back in the day, on Fridays when you have to wait until Monday to find out whodunnit! Well baby! I’m tuned in!!
Please take care and we must keep this author safe & healthy at all costs bc she started some sh¥t with The Tree! She & Xor Xoey’s plus twelve gots a lot of ‘plainin’ to do! 😂
Soooo this story had me in my feels!! Pyrite was definitely unhinged but I actually loved his method of madness… does that make me crazy too? Glass walls?, Handcuffs?, A cussing parrot? Count me in!Lol Miss Aubry know she be putting together some stories and I love that she gave us some of her other families from previous books in this one. Fable was not playing no games with Pyrite and my girl got her lick back in the best way she know how 😂😂 I love that you have given us more of Xoey plus twelve because I have loved her since Mercy’s book!now I can’t wait for the next book!
Love me some Pyrite ABSOLUTELY hate cliffhangers….
So I’ve been on this journey with these characters since the beginning and I can’t recall one book that’s left me with this many questions or left me this annoyed in the end ! I hate cliffhangers but I absolutely adore Pyrite and yeah the love story was definitely crazy but I’m impatiently waiting for the next book ! I always recommend Aubry J books but yeah, run me the next one please and thank you! I knew Javien Jr wasn’t lying. But who is the girl? What baby ? Who slid through Hood and Legacy reception thing ?! Was it Diara ex? Does it have to do with Yale and Amethyst? Like LET ME KNOW lol
