Darkness Prevails is a collection of 15 terrifying tales by author Cliff R. Barlow. From twisted yarns about the Demons of Hell to gut-wrenching stories about the unrelenting Demons Within, this collection pulls no punches. You have been warned. This is not for the faint of heart.
"Darkness Prevails" was... interesting. The stories were good. But I think I consumed the book in the wrong medium. I listened to this collection of short stories on audiobooks. :( And let me warn you, they picked the wrong narrator. She read with a really bad monotone and didn't do very well making different voices for the characters.
But!
The stories themselves were fun! I enjoyed many of these dark and twisted horror stories. I really liked the discount cinema story, the one, and Joesph and the demon, and the guy in the coma were all personal favorites. The stories here were creepy and spooky and highly disturbing. :D
I'd definitely recommend it, but be sure and read the kindle version!
I listened to this on Audible, and the narrator made this hard to enjoy. I enjoyed a few of the stories, though some were just "dumb". Maybe if I'd read it myself, or if they had a male narrator I would've found it more enjoyable.
Cliff Barlow impressed me with this collection. It was actually quite good in my opinion, and I really enjoyed it. The repeated plot of the video murderer guy was probably my favorite aspect of the collection.
These tales are a little cornball, but that is also their charm, like Tales from the Crypt. For the Audible edition, however, they are read by a woman which is really awkward because all of the narrators and protagonists are male. Kind of ruined the voice/tone for me.
This anthology of short stories (some of which are linked by a recurring character) visits some pretty dark territory, and I enjoyed most of the stories even if I felt they sometimes needed a little more polish. I'd read more from this author.
In Comparison to his first book ( the last stair into darkness). this one is really bad. Very predictable stories & in many Cases you feel that the author was running out of ideas.
Audiobook. 3.5/5 for me. Some of the stories were decent but a lot of them felt anti-climactic and just ended during a build up or didnt build up at all.
While some of the stories in this anthology are fun, they feel too brief. It's like they could be longer and more plotted out, but they're not. I enjoyed the Vein Death stories.
