He’s a warrior deep in his bones, but she wants only peace…
For decades, Warrior Duncan has had an on-again, off-again relationship with a woman opposed to his warrior lifestyle. When Rachel shows up in his life again, he wants to keep his distance, but the infamous breh-hedden, the myth-that-isn’t-a myth, bears down on him keeping him in a perpetual caveman-like state. How is he supposed to make war when he’s falling in love with a woman who only wants peace?
Rachel can’t believe Duncan is back in her life. She spent years getting over him, over all the fights they had about her dislike of the war and his love of being a Militia Warrior. The problem is, she never stopped loving him and the trance he’s stuck in has her out of her mind with worry. When the breh-hedden crashes down on her, she wants only one Duncan … in her bed … now. But how is she supposed to stay with a man who represents what she hates most about their ascended vampire world?
RAPTURE’S EDGE 1: Awakening is a paranormal romance novel, a vampire romance with a fantasy edge, of the Rapture’s Edge Series. The series is preceded by two related BRINK OF ETERNITY and THE DARKENING. RAPTURE’S EDGE is part of the Guardians of Ascension Saga! Caris Roane is the author of seventy-three published works, twenty-three of which are paranormal romances featuring hunky, military type vampires in need of worthy women.
I confess I've had a love affaire with vampires for several years now, especially warrior vampires, the kind found in the books of Sherrilyn Kenyon, Lara Adrian and JR Ward. Though I've been published in Regency Romance under the pseudonym Valerie King--and yes one of my Regency Novellas features a vampire--one day I woke up knowing I had to create my own contemporary world of the warrior vampire.
For some mystical, magical reason, early in the process, my vampires appeared with enormous beautiful wings and it has been the most amazing experience to include flight in my novels, in both battle scenes and scenes involving spectacle. My special vampire world, published by St. Martin's Press, is introduced in the first book called, ASCENSION (12-28-2010). The second book, BURNING SKIES (May of 2011), opens up the world a little bit more. And even as I write this, I'm on the final draft of my third novel, WINGS OF FIRE (September of 2011). What a thrill it has been to live with my ascended vampires through the creation of this extraordinary, multi-dimensional world!

With every hope you'll enjoy reading my books set in the World of Ascension, All my best, Caris Roane
Third Earth is rising.. Or being uncovered? Or.. Yeah Caris Roane is at it again and once again she creates a powerful story with great secondary characters and a world where it seems evil is always rising to the top, sort of like pond scum.
This powerful edition to her Ascension Series is a bit of a misnomer as it is called the Dawn of Ascension and a reader could mistakenly assume that it's about Second Earth, a prequel so to speak but it's so not. It's about the rise to Third Earth, the power that dwells there and the battles that must be won.
Rapture's edge is a serial book, so Caris calls it an episodial book, same thing (at least in my humble opinion) and while I generally don't enjoy them (unless I can read all the episodes at once) I am rather enjoying this one. Why? Because Caris does just what she says.. she writes episodes. So Awakening? It's the beginning of a new Era and Duncan formerly found in The Darkening, Dawn of Ascension, is at the center of it. Because she is telling the story of Duncan and Rachel, it seems more like Kallypso Masters' concept of a saga rather than Donna Grant's serials (both of whom I adore btw).
Warrior Duncan has been held captive before finds himself once again in captivity. Only this time, it's worse. This time it's his mind that is being held. A supposedly inescapable mind link holds Duncan prisoner to a Third Earth Psychopathic Princess, with designs of grandeur and his body is left to the ministrations of the Healers on Second Earth. Only the danger to the one woman who could ever hold his heart manages to save him.
Rachel is the sister to a Warrior, Gideon (Brink of Eternity) and the widow of another. Both men have played a huge part in her life. Gideon as the model of what is right and true and her ex? Well, see my first paragraph under pond scum. Because of her history, Rachel as she puts it "has had the war beat out of her", she doesn't want a warrior's life. She wants peace and will do anything to get it, including the age old head in the sand option. But the breh-hedden doesn't really care what you want, it's about who you need.
Could Caris find two more unlikely people? Well it's not as out of the blue as one would think. It seems Duncan and Rachel go way, way back. Her husband was part of his father's squad. His father, the abusive dickhead that taught all his squad a "woman's place".. So while Duncan was bred for war, his emotional maturity is a bit behind.. And the decades long on and off again relationship has paid the price. But now.. they are in the same place, working towards the same purpose and the breh-hedden has claimed them. Should be easy... *Snorts*...
Just wonderfully done! Emotions run this book! Even Endelle shows some and that my friends was astounding. Yes, we do see Endelle and some of the What-Bees and a few of their Breh... but most of them will remain on Second Earth as the fight for Third Earth has begun. Because if Third Earth falls, Second Earth has not chance.
I could go on and on and on.. This book is the beginning of something great. Ok, so it's not the beginning, Caris has been writing about Second Earth for a while and most of these characters are not new.. But she really steps up her game on this one..
Rachel and Duncan have had a rollercoaster of a relationship, one moment they are together the next they are. Duncan has kept Rachel from getting to close, it is what tears them apart. However when Duncan begins his Ascension things begin to change between Rachel and Duncan, but there is an enemy trying to tear them apart.
Another brilliant read from Caris Roane. Rachel and Duncan are one of my favorite couples. Can't wait for more.
Oh it's fabulous to be back in the world of these amazing warriors who fight to protect us from the Death Vampires. It's a time when things should be getting easier with a vicious enemy finally defeated and yet there is far more evil at work than anyone realised. Unfortunately slap bang in the middle of all that's going on is Duncan a Warrior in the Militia and now he is caught in a trance and at the mercy of those who have ascended to Third Earth . Plans are afoot to use Duncan and his newly developing powers but those who serve Endelle on Second Earth will stop at nothing to protect their fellow Warrior. For far too long Rachel has had a conflicted relationship with Duncan. He is a Warrior with strong drives but all Rachel really wants is a life together filled with love. Second Earth is fooling themselves if they feel life is about to get easier as there is an even bigger threat looming and both Duncan and Rachel are right in it's path. It's time for Rachel to step up and finally claim her man but there's a whole lot of work to do before anyone can rest peacefully ! Another spin off from the Guardians of Ascension series and it's simply amazing that the author keeps these books fresh and filled with new ideas. Oh if you are a fan of the original warriors have no fear because we still get glimpses of them but the storyline is developing as we learn even more about the possibilities of what these new dimensions offer. It's a remarkable idea that we can grow and ascend to become even more than mere human and the vampire progression sure makes it a steamy one! This author takes her ideas and lets them run and now she is introducing new characters whilst giving those we love even greater purpose. Endelle is still that kick ass heroine that readers know and love but Third Earth has lots of possibilities and I can't wait to find out just what exactly is next!
I received this book from the author for an honest review.
It was very exciting, full of suspense and adventure. And boy is it hot, whew, very drool worthy. The characters were very well developed, especially with so few chapters and so much going on.

My Thoughts: I actually spent a lot of my time laughing while reading this book, and it wasn't because it was meant to be funny.
I mostly saw Duncan and Rachel's relationship as a real life kind of couple's issue when you bring two people who are so alike that they butt heads yet so completely different at the same time who have different views on something and can't communicate in order to meet in the middle on what is causing problems in their relationship in the first place.
Partner A. is going through something that Partner B. can't understand or relate to and Partner B. is fed up with trying to make things work even though they can't seem to force themselves to completely abandon all hope that something can be redeemed of the past they shared with Partner A.
Although I wish we had gotten more development of their past and a real honest in - depth exploration of what's going on around them politically I thought Awakening was a good book. All in all I enjoyed Awakening and thought it was a decent beginning to the Raptures Edge series. I hope for more development in future installments.
Also, I did appreciate the glossary being included in the book because there is a lot of complex terms and references that I think would lose a lot of readers if there wasn't one.

The series is preceded by two related books: BRINK OF ETERNITY and THE DARKENING. RAPTURE’S EDGE is part of the Guardians of Ascension Saga! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ This is the story of Gideon’s sister, Rachel, and his friend and fellow warrior, Duncan, and is the start of an episodic style series. I’m not really a fan of serials or this type of episodic series, but this is the Ascension world and I have loved it from the first book’s release in 2010, so yes I’m going to continue with whatever comes in this world.
I wish I had been able to read The Darkening before this one, as it takes place shortly before this story. Outside of that, I really liked it and the end left me wanting more right now. I can’t wait to read the next installment in this episodic series. I’m hooked.
Duncan and Rachel are back together (after years of an on again/off again relationship) and are trying to make their relationship work. They each have issues stemming from their respective pasts to overcome and work through. Seeing the growth of both of them in this part has me wanting to see how they continue to grow in subsequent parts. They love each other, but they have to work on their growth and on building and strengthening their relationship.
Plenty of action and hot loving is also found within this story. Definitely recommend this.

There's a Book #1 for Rapture's Edge, which is where the confusion is. So the order to read the Guardian of Ascension/Dawn of Ascension series is Gates of Rapture (GoA #6), then The Darkening (DoA #1), then The Awakening, Just a head's up to help you keep the stories in the right order. ☺ ☺ ☺ ☺ ☺ ☺ ☺ ☺ ☺ ☺ ☺ ☺ ☺ ☺ ☺ ☺ ☺ ☺ ☺ ☺ Now the review. Do you like hot, steamy sex scenes? This book has those, oh do they have them. As I always said, if you can skim past the sex scenes and the book still it good, then that's the mark of a well written story. You can skim through the sex scenes if you so choose and the story stands up. I read the book blind, so didn't realize it was Rapture's Edge book 1, which is why I thought it was the first book in the Dawn of Ascension. It's also Book 2, in the Dawn of Ascension. The Awakening is Rachel and Duncan's story ... our pair has a long standing on again, off again relationship and when the time was right they get hit with the breh-hedden. Crazy wild sex as I said in this one. And with each book in the story, more and more new powers show up. This one is Rachel's shielding. Any more you just have to read the story to see why this is important. I loved the story because it keeps building on the last one. It kept moving along and kept me on the edge of my seat what would happen yet. The worse thing is it ended too soon. It probably was originally written as a longer book and split into two section, so there is a cliffhanger, not great, but there it is. And I think ole Endelle is the 'calmest' and most normal she's ever been. Because she's part of the running background story, I like the way her character is growing. Anything else said, I'll give away things that happen in this story... you'll have to read it to find out. You're going to be surprised is all I can say.

Duncan is a warrior that has had an on-again, off-again relationship with a woman that isn’t interested in the fighting of their world and just wants peace in her own life. Suddenly Rachel is in his life again and even though he tries to keep his distance the breh-hedden, the myth-that-isn’t-a-myth, hits him and keeps Duncan in a perpetual caveman-like state. Now Duncan is torn as he is a man of war that is falling in love with a woman that only wants peace.
Rachel has spent years getting over Duncan only to have him back in her life. The fights they have had over the years involve his love of being a Militia Warrior and her dislike for the war. The problem for Rachel is that she has never stopped loving him and now that Duncan is in a trance state she is going out of her mind with worry. Then the breh-hedden takes over and she is only interested in Duncan in her bed preferably right now. How is she supposed to have a relationship with a man that represents all of what she dislikes the most about their ascended vampire world?
This is another interesting story is a series of stories that brings a whole new twist to the different stories of vampires. The world building is amazing and brings it to vivid life for the reader. The stories prove to get better and better as the world building gets more involved and the way it is done there is no limit to where the stories can go. The characters are complex enough to make for a story that pulls the reader in and doesn’t let go until the very last page. This is proving to be an addictive series of books and novellas that will have readers constantly looking for the next book or novella. For readers that love vampire books and paranormal stories this is definitely one series to check out.
Rachel is back in his life and he wants to keep his distance but the infamous breh-hedden is keeping Warrior Duncan in a perpetual cave-man like state in this thrilling first installment of Rapture’s Edge.
Rachel has spent years trying to get over him and now he is back in her life and the reader can’t help but get caught up in the beginning of Rachel and Duncan’s story as their enemies have targeted them both so they are constantly thrown together as they try to stay alive. Both characters capture the heart as they have both have traumatic pasts that is influencing their relationship, but the Breh-hedden will not be denied and their passions burn hotter as the story progresses. These strong, compelling characters grab the reader’s attention and ensure that the reader wants to know the whole story as Duncan and Rachel both figure out that life doesn’t always work out the way we want it to and the reader can certainly understand why they feel the way do.
This fast paced and smooth flowing plot thrills readers with lots of action and suspense and the well written scenes and details paint vivid images that capture the imagination and bring the story to life. The well orchestrated suspense and action ensure that there is never a dull moment and draws the reader deeper into the story Delicious anticipation builds as their enemies constantly attack and the danger escalates to all the warriors and even Endelle (scorpions really?) is worried.
Once again, this fascinating world held me spellbound from beginning to end and with the next installment promising to be just as exciting as this one I am impatiently waiting with toes tapping to find out what happens next.
"Rachel must die" How many times had he heard Yolanthe speak those exact words. After being rescued two weeks previous from third Earth Duncan is still in a trance induced by Yolanthe who is hell bent that he not only serve her but that his on and off girlfriend Rachel must die. He tries to resists giving away Rachel's location but fails and the woman he loves is in trouble…. big trouble.
Second Earth thought it had a respite from war after Greaves was killed but they thought wrong. Yolanthe's father, Chustaffus, ruler of third Earth and a bastard at that, has is eyes set on taking over second Earth and won't let anything stop him. Duncan eventually breaks out of the trance and discovers powers that now make him a warrior of the blood and that Rachel is his Breh. Together can they stop the wreckers and save second earth?
This is the first in a three book series that is a spin off of the Guardians of Ascension series but it follows the Darkening and that book should be read first if you want to make sense of what is going on in this one.
I have to say that I love the Guardians series and am loving the various spin off series that Caris has been writing. I love the action and the battle sceans that take place. I also love Merl, a third worlder who is getting under Endelle's skin and annoying everyone else. Raptures Edge is mentioned in this book and I really can't wait to find out what that is all about!
Book was gifted in exchange for a fair and honest review
Before I start, I need to say that this series is preceded by two related books: BRINK OF ETERNITY and THE DARKENING. RAPTURE’S EDGE is part of the Guardians of Ascension Saga!
However, I haven't read any of those prior to starting this book although I sure as hell want to read them now! This is not due to any plot holes or confusion in this book, it just sounds like such a great place, I want more.
This is an in-depth and full-of-action story that mainly revolves around Duncan and Rachel. There is a lot going on and you also need to understand that they are going through a mating bond which throws a caveman into the mix too. With psychotic women, strange powers and at least six Earths that I read about, this story has it all. I loved that the main two in this book had a history together, it wasn't just insta-love! That is always a bonus for me. So many other characters that intrigue and enchant though. One such character is Endelle - now I can't say that she's enchanting but I did love her attitude and her honesty. I can't wait to read more about her.
A thoroughly enjoyable start to the series which will definitely leave you wanting more. Definitely recommended.

Merissa Archaeolibrarian - I Dig Good Books! Jul 7, 2015
This is my honest review for The Awakening by Caris Roane. I received this book from the author in exchange for a good and honest review.
I have loved The Guardian of Ascension series with their handsome warriors and fearless heroines. Also, the series and the book has hot steamy scenes envelope in a good written plot.
The Awakening is the first book on the Rapture’s Edge series, and is the story of Duncan and Rachel’s. Duncan and Rachel has been on a on again, off again relationship for years. Even though Duncan has try to stay away from Rachel, the breh-hedden makes an appearance and hit them. Duncan is a warrior and Rachel wants nothing to do with the war. As part of the breh-hedden the couple develops and enhances the powers they already have; in this case Rachel’s powers is shielding. Also the couple develops a dependency from one another, and the males developed a cave-man like attitude.
This is a very intriguing and interesting story that has a new twist on the author’s vampire world. The stories in this world prove to get better and better, and the worlds that we keep discovering gets more and more interesting. The characters are developed during the course of the novel and we keep seing them during the series.
For readers that love paranormal and vampire novels and novellas I will recommend reading this book and the authors Guardian of Ascension books.
This book brings characters from other series of the author, but can be read as stand alone
Duncan was saved by Samuel and his partner, Vela. He's stuck in a trance in bed while an extremely powerful woman scours his mind trying to find an information: where is Rachel. Rachel is a woman for whom Duncan, as Militia Warrior, harbor feelings, even if he himself does not know. In an act beyond his strength, he can break free of the trance and go where is Rachel. From there their lives are intertwined.
Duncan and Rachel are absolutely different because they are on different sides of the same war. While he is a warrior, she is against any kind of war, and although she has certain gifts, she would prefer to have an ordinary life, cultivating the land. But now she is being hunted, she must learn to defend themselves from those who want to kill her and find out the reason for all this. But if the situation was already bad, from Breh-hedden gets worse. Duncan and Rachel are irrevocably connected by the feeling that unites them. Both will have to fight side by side if they want to get out of this war alive and live this love. The problem is that their enemies are always one step forward and Yolanthe want to see Rachel death and have Duncan for herself.
A story full of adventure, mystery, a lot of passion and a final to make any reader nervous...
I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
This book is a spin-off from another series. We were introduced to the darkening, Duncan, and Rachel (and the breh-hedden) before, but they spiral together in a great story that begins here with book 1.
Duncan and Rachel have had a tumultuous relationship. We saw Rachel's "tree hugging" ways in his brother's book (when he has to rescue her) and we saw Duncan display his warrior skills by holding out against the odds in his prison cell. After rescue, Duncan finds himself trapped in a sort-of-coma watching an evil woman try to learn his secrets. It wouldn't be so very bad if the woman wasn't also out to kill Rachel.
Rachel's "normal" life without using her powers comes to a crashing halt when Duncan warns her of danger. The two end up on the run from the bad guys and snuggling up close thanks to the infamous warrior bonding. Duncan's already primitive behavior is made even more so by this fated match. It as neat to see this spun in a different way, developing between a couple that already had a history.
While we get a nice beginning to the story, this book is clearly that: a beginning. Don't look for a nice HEA at the end of this one because there is clearly more to come.
Once again I was pulled into the world or should say world's of the Asenders. As always Endelle was the awesome woman she portrays in the previous books but this time we get a little more in depth look to what makes her tick. As the Warriors aare facING the Third world Brutes Duncan and Rachel start to come together and begin to work out the kinks in their relationships. Ducan and Rachel have a harsh past which is a major factor of the on again off again roller coaster relationship. Add to it a crazy Third World looney and it makes the trials of their relationship that much more difficult. I also love seeing glimpses of the other warriors although I miss seeing the women who played huge roles in the previous books. But since this is the start to the third world ascension I can see more game players forming. I'm sad this book is over and I have so many questions and concerns as to what will happen in the next book. I'm curious as to the roles of the Warriors and truly worried as to their fates. Such a great read. It will leave you with so many scenerios. I'm anxiously awaiting for the next installment!
This is the first part of, I believe, a larger book “Awakening”, which is part of the Guardians of Ascension series. Don’t hold me to that, because I am still unsure as to the structure and the unfinished feel to the piece. I don’t care for these types of marketing strategies by booksellers, publishers, authors, etc…I like a finished book. I understand cliffhangers, but that is not the case with this read. Think of this book in the terms of a soap opera presentation, not the writing, but the layout/presentation.
Don’t get me wrong or throw rotten food, this is a fantastic series and I have recommended it to many friends who read the genre. I am disappointed in how “Awakening” was handled from a writing standpoint. This should have been one full length finished novel, with an ending; not an “until next time, same bat time, same bat channel” type of read.
I wish I could give this a higher review, because of my love for the series and the original cast of characters, but, in all honesty, I cannot.
I am actually rating this 4.5. I am so glad that Car is decided to do some spin offs from her Guardians of Ascent ion series. I totally loved that series!!! I so missed the warriors and Endelle with all her craziness and now with Merl in the pic their interactions kill me lol. Love how she humor right back into the story line from the Dawn of Ascension series where Duncan goes missing and starts this book 2 weeks into him being captive. Rachel and Duncan are HOT together eve though I wanted to smack at leat once or twice lol. I can't wait for the next episode to see how Rachel and Duncan deal with their issues (they obviously love each other very much) and the battle on Third. And then their is Warrior Luken your heart can't help but break for him. He is still so hung up on Havily I really hope he finds his breh. I also want to know what Merl is really all about he is obviously hiding something. And hopefully the other warriors and their breh's will make an appearance.
I'm awed by how well Caris Roane always manages to surprise me. This novel proves that even the characters who seem the most unlikely to save the day can end up the hero. Warrior Duncan is a man who is very guarded and doesn't let anyone really know him. His past shaped him into a man who always kept up walls to keep others out. And despite a long time on and off again relationship with Rachel he's never really put his heart out there. Rachel is against the war, wishing to separate herself from second earth and all its battles. Her main love has always been her gardens and despite all the break ups.... Duncan. With the safety of second earth on the line and her very life threatened Rachel is left with no where to hide. No more can she deny her powers, the war, or her feelings for Duncan. Facing a formidable enemy who threatens all they know and love these brave ascenders team up to do the impossible. I enjoyed this book so much and I can't wait for episode two to see how it ends. Copy gifted in exchange for an honest review.
I enjoy most of this author's work. This one being no different. It is well constructed, but I do feel things could have been worded or structured differently that would have made this a five star for me. She calls a the vagina a "well". It makes for an awkward read during a sex scene when you read "he thrust his cock into my well". There are plenty of other words she could have used that would have been perfect. Well isn't one of them, I don't want to think of Timmy falling down that kind of well or wonder how lassie is going to save him from this one lmao. Also, I feel that author's souls have their series well constructed and organized. Many of her books are number 2 in one series and number 4.5 in another. That makes reading either series difficult because you are jumping around so much and you might miss something and it confuses you. Other than those glaring issues it was a wonderful read and I love the different works she creates and the depth of the characters.
This was giving to me for an honest review. Awakening is book one in the Rapture's Edge series. I totally loved this book. It was the perfect mixture of action and romance for me. This is Duncan and Rachel's story. This story shows that love can conquer evil. Duncan was put into a trance by an evil princess named Yolanthe and she believes that Duncan belongs with her and wants to kill Rachel. Duncan is a warrior and his character is very likeable and he is caring, strong and loyal. Rachel is a very likeable character she is caring, independant and loyal. Duncan and Rachel break the trance and the mind meld. But they know that Yolanthe is still coming after them and they will have to fight her and protect the Rapture's Edge from her and her father. Yolanthe wants to rule all of the Earths and have Duncan at her side, but she realizes that Duncan will not be at her side. I give this story 5 stars. The story flowed perfectly and there was plenty of action and romance. I would recommend this series to people that love paranormal romances with action mixed.
Warrior Duncan is trapped. He's under a mind spell cast by Yolanthe, a powerful Third Earth ascender. She wants his ex-love, Rachel, dead. Can he save her? These characters are powerful and so interesting. I was drawn into their story from the first page. I wanted to know more about them and to know how they will stop the Wreckers. The story was a combination of passion and non-stop action. Endelle was so interesting. She's the leader of Second Earth and a force to be feared. Duncan and Rachel have a love hate relationship. They have a powerful attraction, but they want different things in life. He's a dedicated warrior while she wants peace. Their relationship has been rough. Now they need to work together to save their world and themselves. I'm Looking forward to Merl's story. I know that there will be plenty of surprises. This was an entertaining novel. Just be aware that it is in episode form and ends with a cliffhanger.
Caris is an amazing author and one of my favorites. I love reading her books because they are very detailed and I follow each character with ease. I often find myself laughing or crying right along with them. They come alive and I feel like I belong in their world. I was glad to hear about Luken in this book, however, I wish there had been more about him. But as they prepare to head into Third Earth I hope Luken's fate is not sealed. This book is mostly about Duncan and Rachael; as the deal with their past, struggle with the breh-hedden and their new paths. Along with Luken in command they prepare to move into Third Earth to face a new enemy, to save their world and ours. Can't wait for Rapture's Edge Book 2 and see what awaits them on Third Earth. *Copy was gifted in exchange for an honest review.
This book picks right up after THE DARKENING and the rescue of Duncan from a torture cell. Caris starts right off and pulls you in. Duncan has been "mind trapped" by Yolanthe who wants Duncan to tell her where Rachel is so she can kill her. Duncan isn't sure what to make of the situation he is and struggles and eventually breaks out of the "mind trap" Yolanthe put him in and is able to get to Rachel before she is killed. This story is fast paced and brings you deeper into the war Second Earth is fighting. You learn more about Duncan and Rachel's on again/off again relationship as the breh-hedden takes them both by surprise. As the breh-hedden becomes stronger Rachel learns of a hidden power she didn't realize that will play an important part in a war that she hates but most overcome if she is going to save the more important person in her life, Duncan.
Copy gifted in exchange for an honest review. I have thoroughly enjoyed Ms Roane's books since she had started writing her Ascension series. And she has not disappointed in her continuing series Rapture's Edge #1.
Warrior Duncan has always felt something for Rachel, but Rachel wanted him also but could not accept his warrior ways and then Duncan would back away from her with emotional issues.
We see how each of them develop their powers and how it expands when the two of the get together and struggle with their problems all the while protecting Second Earth from destruction and tyranny from Chrustaffus who rules Third Earth and wants to control all of the Earths.
Again I highly recommend this book for anyone who enjoys paranormal/romance/fantasy/vampire books. Enjoy this one and the others that are stand alone but is better when in series.
Awakening, a nice read again from Caris Roane. From the start up to the last, everything is great. The story and the characters are good. I love their chemistry. Duncan and Rachel, these two brought the house on fire! With all the things that happened and will happen, these two is cannot be denied! The other characters, they are also great! I love each characters, their personalities are great. I love how all of them are easy to like and get attached to. The story, it’s good. With Duncan being trapped with the enemy’s trance, things just got more intense. What I did not like sometimes is on how Duncan treated Rachel on some occasion. But all in all, I still love it. The way the story ended, it’s ok and good. I can’t wait on what will happen next with the characters and the Rapture’s Edge!
Not my favorite, while I love the characters and they are from some of the other books that I have read I just felt very confused through the whole book like I was missing something. It feels like the book starts out in the middle of the story and how they got to this place is a mystery. While I did find this book a bit hard to understand in the beginning the flow is good and I did enjoy reading it even though I did get the sense that I was missing something . Duncan and Rachel have a lot to work through and it seems they are on their way to figuring things out after a almost tragic incident. It does leave off on a cliff hanger ending though and reads more like a serial than a stand alone book. Looking forward to figuring out what is going on and maybe making sense of what I couldn't make sense of in the first book in the second one. Book gifted in exchange for an honest review.
I recieved a copy of this book from the author for an honest review. Finaly a Duncan and Rachel story. I read about them when I read about her brother Gerrod. And this story didn't disapoint me. Only that there will be a part 2 to their saga against evil. This is about a different earth being who wants Duncan and his powers. And the fight of good vs evil. How Rachel plays a very important place next to Duncan to rid the universe of impending doom. I loved the visuals that I got from reading this book by Caris Roane. It didn't take up too much space just enough that I could "see" what and where they were. And the possible effects of what evil does to other places. The fight will be places in other books cant wait for them to come out. Way to go C. Roane
*Copy was provided for honest review* I have always been a huge fan of the Guardians of Ascension series and was excited to see that Caris had added more books to the series. I think the spins off work out well as they show us a totally different version of events. Luken was always a favorite of mine so it was good to read his story and catch up with the old and new members for the series. Caris keeps you guessing and wondering what is going to happen next This is a fast read. It's smooth and makes you swoon every time you get to meet a new warrior...... If you are wanting a fast read that is well written, the plot line runs like a dream and the men are even hotter this is for you. Can't wait to read the next installment.
