I developed the Whiskey Tango Foxtrot series from notes and ideas I had put together while deployed to Afghanistan. I had been jokingly asked how we would defend against a zombie attack.
I wanted to tell a story that portrays the military that I know, that displays our actual capabilities. These are my thoughts, I hope you enjoy them, and thank you for reading.
Slightly underwhelmed by this instalment. Relentlessly action packed and entertaining throughout, but I felt the depth was lacking this time and not one word of past back stories which includes four books. All guns blazing continuously doesn't entertain.
Bravo! This series kicks so much ass. Book 5 was fantastic and in my opinion the best one yet. I'm not going to give away any spoilers, but things get really interesting in the end. Nice twist.
Start from the beginning and you'll be hooked through the end, while still wishing there were more! Fantastic, surprising characters - "the soldier" and his little friend being favorites. Lots of heros and villains herein, in addition to the infected- great balance. I hope we do get one more book. Too many loose ends!!! FIVE STARS!
The only downside of this entire series is the fact that once you start reading you can't put it down. This is a must have for zombie fans and soldiers past and present.
It's flaw is the poor realisation of non-American and women characters, being on the whole under developed often clichéd.
I'm ashamed to say I at first didn't notice the this with the Arabs, but had a suspicion of it with the Canadians and winced every time a British character opened his mouth.
Perhaps the audio version make this worse as the reader sometimes couldn't find the right inflection of words and sentences when speaking non-US character's dialogue.
An e.g. The word 'mate' [as in 'hello, mate!'] is to some English people the equivalent to 'pal' in the US. He made it sound like someone had just won a game of chess.
Women characters are there for romantic interest, looking after kids or the injured, and typically say there bit then fade into the background until needed again.
With these caveats aside it's still an easy, enjoyable read.
A WJL. Military SYFY. (End of the World) Action Adventure (STFF.) (AWTFNB -5)
WJL. has penned the fifth military SYFY. action adventure of the WTF. series, which begins with the group leaving the coast of New England for Ft. Sumter, in Charleston, SC. The group in not uneventful as they meet a British submarine. Then they make Ft.Sumter and cross the causeway to the Air Force Base to resupply. Then they discover the must proceed to Hunter AFB. in Savannah, GA. During the trip they realize they are being chased by a military group. This is an excellent read for the genre.....DEHS
Twists and turns of plot this journey from The Middle East through epic end-of-world problem solving adventure has now landed like The Mayflower on U.S. soil with a hope that could prove as a significant aid in saving the remaining world. But unknown forces battle against our core team on a rescue mission. Thrilling, war-like adventure dialogue, and they are having fun. The only thing I find lacking is some good end of the world romance. Not realistic on that front. Add some passion and sex and some people falling in love with
I never liked Zombie books but really like this series. Lundy does an excellent job describing the military tactics with enough detail to make the story real but not lose the average reader. The characters are realistic and I'll bet many are based on friends he serves with. Great plot. Great story.
Relatively early in the book, Sean refers to Brad as his guard dog. Later, Chelsea wonders why Brad follows Sean like a dog.
Yeah, that's beginning to feel about right. Little mention of the men in the desert until the literal last paragraph - but, maybe there's a chance to get them now?
WJ Lundy takes it to another level with this fast paced thriller with converging storylines. A series of novels about simple survival suddenly becomes much more serious and with higher stakes . The plot and the writing are really kicked up a notch in this volume.
I gotta love Brads stubbornness in getting his men home, and I think Sean has a guardian angel. Poor little Ella! I can’t wait to pick up the next book and see what happens next.
This is the first military apocalyptic series that I have ever loved. I will be happy to read anything written by W J Lundy in the future. I especially loved his respect and affection for the civilians in the sandbox. Wizard!
Thrilling and explosive action packed continuation of the series, with the hope of a cure, the team struggle to protect Ellie, as they try to discover friend from foe. I received this book in exchange for my honest review.
Fast paced, people being shot by people or being beaten by the undead. Never a dull moment as Sgt Brad and his seal buddies just can't stop and rest. Hell of a story, get #1 today.
Brad and the team are back on home soil, but life is no better. With news that a little girl, Ella, may be immune and hold the key to a cure, they go looking and have a new hope. Slightly different format, as it follows two stories, Brad's team and Ella's.
This is another fantastic addition to this series. Just like the rest it grabs you and keeps entertained from beginning to end. The post apocalyptic hellscape the the team has to make their way through just keeps getting more and more challenging.
Now reading Book #5. I was always trying to think what the final version would be. This was another series of good books that l could not wait to get to the end.
