Fated #2

La profecía del vikingo

Rate this book

Amazing series, I started this right after book one and went right into book 3 right after this one was finished.

❄Lots of action, danger and a wolf posse!🐺

This is a great return to the Norse era romances that first got me hooked on Mariah Stone's time travel novels. And, I did not realize it at first, but male lead Channing aka Ulf Hakonson, whose life straddles the present and his 10th century origin, comes from a couple whose romance featured in book three of Stone's Viking series.

This book in the Fated trilogy mostly takes place in the frozen, Dark Ages fjordlands of Norway where the time travelers face danger at every turn in their quest to save the world from Ragnarock destruction: no small task! The worldbuilding is good and there's never a dull moment.

Lots of action putting Viking swords, knives, axes and arrows to deadly use and female lead Ella, a cop in her modern life, kicks butt along with the best. Channing somehow garners the protection of a bizarre band of wolves. There are so many twists and turns, especially for Ella, as she uncovers a mindblowing secret from her own past, and struggles against her connection with Channing.

Although a pall of inevitability and doom hangs over their heads I did not feel the gut-wrenching unease I experienced reading the previous story that took place in a disintegrating modern Boston. The book's conclusion is not such a stunning cliffhanger as the first book in the series but it left me looking forward to the final book to prove how successful they can be in their race against Ragnarock!

I read a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest opinion.

Channing muss Ella retten.

Wow, what a wild ride back to 9th century Norway. It was great getting to see Channing finally reunited with his family after all this time. Getting to see the reunion of Channing and Ella was great. Seeing them experience that time together was a great thing. Of course the twists and turns keep coming we learn a little more about Ella’s dreams and her mom which is great. Letting Channing in was such a big step for her and I’m so glad that she let her guard down an trusted him. I can not wait to see how they are going to solve this whole end of the world thing that they are dealing with now. Can’t wait for more.

The second book in the series brings another action packed time travel story with Ella and Channing. The author once again does a fantastic job building the story and painting her scenes as she delivers another great addition to the series. I loved the characters and reading their story. I'm looking forward to the next book.

This story was interesting and had a lot of action. I like the devotion Ella and Channing had for each other and their families. You had to read book 1 to actually know what was going on when Ella went back in time. I am glad she finally got to see her mom and was showed she could help Channing. Can’t wait for book 3 to come out to find out the ending.

This was a great continuation of the story that started in Age of Wolves. Best line ever...."This is not home...you are." The cliffhangers are killing me though! I will be glad to read the last book in the series.

The world is in chaos. This is all about a prophecy, a prophecy that happened well in the past. It draws two people together, yet forces them apart. The ending is a huge cliffhanger!

WOW!!! Another action-packed installment in the Ragnarök story. Here Channing with the help of Ella's partner and her father they get Channing out of jail to go back to the scene of the crime where Ella disappeared from. Channing uses the reactor to go back to retrieve Ella and bring her back to the present. While in the past, the king of Norway claims Ella to be his wife. She escapes with the help of a slave who then was killed by the king. Ella owed her her life. Finally, Channing gets there and is told to find Ella because she is almost at death's door. She is patched up and they head to Channing's home. He is warmly greeted. When Ella is better, they go to find the witch that prophesied Ragnarök. Ella confesses to Channing a secret she has never told anyone else. The witch told her the power was in her hands to stop Ragnarök. Then a miracle happened; Ella saw her mother and her mother told her a few things that now was making her life make more sense. Her mother did not abandon her. There were extenuating circumstances. But she has always loved Ella. The Norn gave Ella the spindle and she and Channing returned to the present only to find out that his unacknowledged paternal grandfather the head of the mafia was going to take over the time machine. I wait in anticipation for book 3 for the conclusion. Excellent book. A must read. I highly recommend it.

OMG…THIS BOOK AND SERIES IS SO AMAZING!!! Age of Ice by Mariah Stone is book 2 in the Fated series and I am just letting you know that the book and series is a continuation and NOT a standalone but trust me when I say that I am in awe over this book. What a creative and imagination Mariah has.I am just blown away and I could not put this book down. This medieval time travel fantasy is one for the ages and is so very well written. I think there are 3 books in this series and I am holding my breath to see how this is going to come to an end and at the same time I will be so sad it ended. I can not say enough about this book. I found it original, Channing and Ella’s romance to just sizzle and the fantasy fantastic. Bravo Mariah Bravo!!! This story has a billionaire that is really from the year 986, a beautiful police women who has power and not sure why, being transported back to 986, seeing one’s family after 14 years, the end of time, the Ragnarök ( a war between the Gods and Evil to end the world), being arrested, wolves that rescue, a horrible winter storm, being trapped in a burning building, willing to give his life so others can live, a horrible king that is out to kill, a very sick father, a handy capped brother, fighting ones brother and falling in love. There is so much more to this book and I am highly recommend you read it. IT IS FAN-TAST-IC!!!!

Eigentlich wollte Channing Hakonson unbedingt zurück zu seiner Familie ins 9. Jahrhundert.

A wonderful spellbinding read! This is the story of a Viking who was sent to the future to sale himself from sure death by King Harald. Channing's Mother is from the future, so she knows that he is sent back to her time. Channing only wants to return to the 9th century and work hard and becomes a very rich man. He hires 2 top scientist to build him a time machine so that he can return to his time, He has now been in the future 14 years.
Ella is a police officer and feels like Channing is a crook and smuggling drugs through his port in Boston. He Mother one day just disappeared leaving her father and brother with only her to provide for them. Her brother is disabled and her father has cancer, so they definitely need her help to survive.
The weather has turned unseasonably cold and people are rioting for food to survive the sudden climate changes.
Channing is ready to test his time machine when the police and Mafia both come charging into his hidden room where the time machine is. Ella reaches out and touches the spindle and she is thrown into the 9th century instead of Channing, who winds up arrested!
I love the storyline is this very well written story, that keeps you tuning the pages to see what is going to happen to the two of them! The characters are fantastic and I love how they are developed in the story! An adventure you don't want to miss!

This story picks up where Ages of Wolves stops. This is not a stand alone.

Ella has been sent to the year 896 using a time machine; the time of Channing (or his birth name Ulf) and is immediately captured by King Harald. Channing tries to chase her but is arrested and must first be released.
His time machine is damaged but he still manages to go back in his own time; the time where Ella is too.

An exciting story is what you will be treated by reading this book. A reunion with Ella and then his parents, brother and sister.
But wherever Channing goes, fate continues to follow him and Ragnarök seems to be coming true.
Ella realizes she loves Channing and tries everything to save him. Her strange dreams in which time goes differently seem to have their origin in the history of the Vikings. But how can she use this to keep Channing alive?

After reading I am very curious about part 3 "Age of Fire". I hope Ella learns to understand her history. I hope to find out what makes Ragnarök chase Channing. And what will happen to the time machine now that it seems to have fallen into the hands of the mafia?

Highly recommended (like ALL stories by Mariah Stone!!)
A big 10 which makes this book 5 *

"she wondered if by some miracle Ragnarök was canceled and they hadn’t gotten the news yet."

Ella is a modern Boston cop, she's of the honest protect and serve school of thought. But her training didn't exactly prepare her for a man who claims to be a 9th century Viking... or for his time machine to send her to 9th century Norway, alone.

Channing just wanted to live his life as a Viking in the ninth century... his mother was a woman out of time, but as his father's son he was exactly where he was meant to be, until a prophecy claimed he would bring Ragnarok, aka the end of the world.

This book stands surprisingly well on its own. I read the previous book when it was originally released, and this one had plenty of memory jogs, and was well written so I never found myself wishing it the previous one was fresher in my mind.

I really enjoyed this journey, as Channing found himself a man either out of time, or perhaps with no time, neither totally at ease in the far flung future he'd been sent to, but no longer the Viking he'd once been. It was similarly an interesting journey for Ella, taking her modern woman skills and applying them to another time, and discovering some truths she hadn't expected about herself in the process.

A simply stunning read, great characters and a wonderful plot I thoroughly enjoyed

This was a simply wonderful read I loved every single moment of this the second book in this series and I know that you will have to sit and read the entire book in one sitting and discover what the final outcome will be.

Both the plot and the story are so well written and the actual characters are so engaging that you cannot help but be drawn into the plot and wait with baited bread to discover what the outcome will be. The book is filled with lots of action and with simply wonderful characters and you will be left waiting earnestly for the next book in the series.

I cannot wait to read the next book in this wonderful series.

The long wait for the next installment of the Fated trilogy is over. Book one ended in a cliffhanger and now in book two Ella is transported from modern day Boston to the Viking Age in the 10th century. The time period that Channing has been trying for 14 years to return to. And Ella is immediately captured by King Harold.
Back in Boston Channing sits in jail, pending several violations. Upset that Ella had disappeared before his eyes and there is nothing that he can do to find her. With help from Ricardo and Ella’s dad he finally is allowed out and back to the scene to the crime/ disappearance. There he is able to use the Time Machine and search for Ella.
Another action packed storyline! Vikings, the wolves are back, secrets are uncovered and love grows between the characters. Not as nail bitting cliffhanger as the first book, but eagerly awaiting the conclusion.

Mariah Stone’s “Age of Ice: An urban fantasy romance” is Book 2 in her thrilling new Fated series.

Channing and Ella are in a race for their lives to stop the Ragnarok. This is a thrilling fantasy tale that will keep your heart racing.

Mariah Stone is known for her fantastic characters, great world building, intriguing plots, and beautiful love stories. In this wonderful series she once again weaves the threads of magic creating a tale of romance and adventure. They are more twists in this story than a country road, it’s chock full of action, mystery, intrigue, secrets and love. I loved it as I have all of her books. I am not one for the cliffhanger at the end but this Mariah Stone. While I would normally avoid such books, if only because I am so impatient, I still have to admit that I loved and enjoyed this entertaining story! She’s done another amazing job! Here’s to the next installment! I can’t wait!

Thank you so much Ms. Stone for another entertaining story! I eagerly await the rest of the story!

Ojito nene.

Age of Ice book #2 in this Urban Fantasy series by author Mariah Stone turned out to be another thrilling continuation of the magic, time travel and romance that held this reader captivated and burning to find out what was going to happen next. I do recommend reading the first book in the series as each book continues the story and does not stand alone.
This second book picks up from the surprising cliffhanger ending of book #1 finding Detective Ella O’Conner transported back to ninth century Scandinavia, Viking Times! Will Channing Hakonson be able to find her? Adventure, suspense, love of family, revenge, all bases are covered in this fast paced, well written energy intensive read! Cliffhanger ending.

You must read Age of Wolves first.
Ella has found herself captured by King Harold, who wants her as his concubine, which as you can imagine she is not pleased about. She manages to convince a slave to help her escape but while they are fleeing to the ford, the slave sacrifice’s herself so that Ella can get away.
Channing finally persuades Ella’s partner to take him to the time machine and then he travels back in time to rescue Ella and get her back to her family.
Now reunited, Ella and Channing are trying to find how to stop Ragnarok, they have to travel to find the truth behind the prophecy, whilst trying to avoid Harold who is determined to have him killed.
Another amazing book in this trilogy: I couldn’t put it down and am once again impatiently waiting for the final book!

Lots of adventure and fun! Love the premise for this series; time travel and Vikings! Plus, some sweet romance. Definitely read book one before this one because this one starts after the cliffhanger of book 1. Detective Ella has been transported back to Viking times after something went quite wrong with Channing’s time machine. Ella was disbelieving of what Channing told her about time travel, but she can’t really deny it now! Channing is still in the present timeline and is dealing with the aftermath of Ella missing; he’s in a rush to find a way to her. Things are not easy for Ella and Channing, there’s plenty of dangerous situations going on; they have some baddies after them. Good times! This one has a cliffhanger ending as well, so I’m anticipating the next book! Totally entertaining series!

Fast-paced action, realistic Viking world and romantic relationship

Just as in Book 1, the story's twists and turns are surprising, keeping me on the edge of my seat. I wondered if Ella and Channing could survive, would become more or less involved, or would cause or prevent the end of the world.

The snowy world of the Vikings is so realistic that I noticed the cool air in the room while I read. Their lifestyle is full of intriguing details that make sense. The individuals and groups are very believable.

We watch Ella and Channing struggle with the situation and their relationship, often seeing an event or interaction from each of their perspectives. Their misunderstandings left me open-mouthed, as did their sudden insights.

I'm ready for many twists and turns in book 3.

Book 2 picks up where we were left hanging in Book1. Couldn’t wait to see what happened. There is certainly No Disappointment with this storyline. Plenty of excitement, adventure, surprises, learning about Viking Lore, and watching the relationship grow.
Ella and Channing are now back in Viking time. He went back to try and rescue her. Also he hadn’t seen his family in 14 years. People are after them, wolves are all around, family issues need resolving , and she discovers several things about herself.
The chemistry between Ella and Channing is so alluring it has you captivated as what will happen next. Torn between Love and Family keeps you wondering if they will get together ?
Book 3 can’t come soon enough.

Absolutely loved the second segment of this Viking time travel romance that could quite possibly be the end of the world! Each chapter and insight into this story is riveting! There is no telling what will happen next. Ella is such a strong character and Channing is her equal in every way. Their physical attraction and passion filled with raw emotion is red hot! They each have a powerful and undeniable devotion to their families that time cannot lessen. I cannot wait to read the last book in this trilogy and find out how it all ends!

The adventure continues to speed up.

We rejoin the adventure right where book one ends and take off from there. There was a lot of setup in the first book so I wasn’t expecting a ton in this book but we did learn a lot more about the Vikings. This is NOT a standalone. It’s fast paced, well structured and has excellent character development. I’m fascinated by Ella and Channing and their adventure. Ready (more than ready) for the conclusion. While I thought the story (in book 1) was a bit slow starting, the pace picked up quickly and continues through this book. Danger, wolves and let’s not forget Ragnarok.

Ms. Stone has done it again. Taking off where she left off in her first book about Channing and Ella she continues their saga. Their story continues to be as exciting and dangerous as the first book "Age of Wolves". Although this book also ends with a cliff hanger, one revelation near the end really makes me look forward to the third book in this trilogy. Looking forward to Age of Fire. Mariah's time travel books never fail to delight.
