What begins as a hookup quickly becomes a night of otherworldly exploration when Nym’s shapeshifting body and fluid identity perfectly complement Jamie’s comfort with transformation. As Nym molds their form to Jamie’s desires—pushing the boundaries of pleasure and anatomy—Jamie discovers what it’s like to be fully seen and celebrated for who they are, in every sense.

But Nym isn’t just an alluring stranger. Beneath their mesmerizing shifts and alien allure lies loneliness and a vulnerability that resonates deeply with Jamie’s own experience of navigating a world that doesn’t quite understand them. As their mutual curiosity sparks into something more profound, Jamie finds themselves questioning whether this one-night connection could be the start of something impossible yet real.

In this spicy queer monster romance, a genderfluid human and a shapeshifting mimic blur the lines between identity, intimacy, and what it means to truly connect. Fluid desires meet transformative pleasure in a story that proves the best connections break all the rules.

One Night with A Sometimes love isn’t about fitting into boxes—it’s about breaking them.

I loved this book and it's my favorite in the series so far. I loved both Nym and Jamie. I was fascinated with Nym, who's a mimic. It's my first time reading about one. The way they could shift form for different appearances and body types- as well as very unhuman body parts- was intriguing and almost god-like in it's limitlessness. I even got flashbacks to the old Terminator 2 film where the T1000 could copy anyone's face or body and extend it's hands into blades. Jamie was also genderfluid and I loved that dynamic between them; how they recognized and appreciated that quality in each other. Jason Torres did a great job bringing these characters to life. Especially Nym, whose voice could fluctuate between soft, more masculine, and deep.

I loved this. It was so imaginative, and i loved the descriptions of how the mimic changed and shifted and even how they described how they saw the world and the absolutely wonderful representation of gender fluidity

For such a short story, it really drew you into this world and these characters.
