4.25 ⭐️- Este libro superó completamente mis expectativas. Me gustó muchísimo y se que voy a estar pensando en esos personajes por mucho tiempo. Desde que comienzas la lectura te puedes sentir 100% dentro de ese mundo. Las descripciones de todo son super concretas por lo cual hace la lectura bien llevadera. Amé demasiado el world building, todo lo sentía tan ethereal. Me encantó mucho las escenas de MAGIA, me lo dieron TODO. Los vibes que sentí mientras leía fue: Pocahontas meets Avatar 🫱🏼🫲🏽.
Es un retelling de la historia de la colonización de Puerto Rico por los españoles pero con magia y fantasía (EPIC!!). Lo disfruté demasiado y no le voy a perdonar al autor como nos dejó con ese pedazo de cliffhanger, o seaaaaa ¿LIBRO 2 para cuándo? Amazing!!
No hay romance pero en ocasiones se siente tensión entre los personajes principales, vamos a ver si esto se desarrolla en el próximo libro AUNQUE la realidad es que no hizo falta.

Legends of the Forgotten: The Tale of Boriken is an unforgettable, immersive, and addictive fantasy. From the very first page, I was hooked—and by the final cliffhanger, I was left absolutely reeling.
The worldbuilding is flawless, the magic both unique and breathtaking, and the characters rich and well-fleshed out. I especially loved the dynamic between Leonardo and Karaya. Her resilience and fierce devotion to her people made her one of my favorite heroines:
“And if you bring harm to any of my people… You will beg for death… and I will not grant it.”
Leonardo’s journey also shined. Even as a captive, his eagerness to learn their customs brought such depth to his character. And then there’s Cao—the side character who stole my heart.
JL Cedano has woven a magical, emotionally charged tale that will stay with me for a long time. My only complaint? That it ended—especially with that cliffhanger. I need Book 2 immediately.

I just finished and loved this story! The writing is beautiful and immersive and I highlighted so many quotes. That ending though... I'm spiraling. I need so many answers, specifically where is book 2?????

Crónica de los Olvidados es un libro que no puedes dejar de leer; es sumamente adictivo. Es un verdadero viaje al pasado, donde aprendes más sobre nuestra cultura y la importancia del vocabulario taíno, así como de los animales y flores de origen puertorriqueño. Una fantasía llena de historia, aprendizaje y acción. Le doy cinco estrellas y felicito al autor por esta tremenda joya literaria.
Mi personaje favorito fue Theo, ya que me recordó mucho a mi abuelo y sus sabios consejos. Los invito a darse la oportunidad de leer esta maravillosa historia, que también está disponible en inglés.✨

This is a heartfelt tribute to our Puerto Rican roots and a breathtaking love letter to our Taíno heritage. This unforgettable story is a must-read for every Boricua and for all who treasure culture, history, and wonder. It reminds us that we come from people who are strong, fierce, and resilient—who have always risen, always fought for what they believe in. Puerto Rico may be small, but there is real magic in its soil and its people, and this book brings that magic to life with every page.
The Tale of Borikén completely captivated me from beginning to end. I absolutely loved everything about this book. The descriptions are so vivid and immersive—it’s as if the flora and fauna themselves become characters in the story. The way the author brought nature to life was nothing short of magical.
What truly blew me away was the way historical elements were woven seamlessly with fantasy. I usually read historical fiction, so this was my first foray into historical fantasy, and now I think I love it even more. The artistic liberties the author took with Puerto Rican history didn’t take away from its essence—they elevated it. Every page had me more and more in awe.
I truly lived this story while reading. I often found myself thinking how amazing it would be if some of these fantastical elements were real. I was completely transported. And that ending? A cliffhanger that left me desperate for the next book!
Reading about Taíno culture, the native animals like the coquí, the iguana, and the Puerto Rican parrot, and the incredibly detailed scenes gave me such a deep sense of pride in being Boricua. It reminded me of how beautiful and spiritual our roots are—something I often forget in my day-to-day life. Even something as simple as the mention of a hammock hit me with a wave of nostalgia.
This book didn’t just entertain me—it moved me, challenged me, and reconnected me with my heritage in a powerful way. A masterpiece that every Puerto Rican—and anyone who loves a rich, imaginative tale—should read.

Entre tantos géneros literarios siempre escuchamos la ficción, ficción histórica, fantasia, entre otras...Pero fantasia histórica le da un toque de intriga justo donde tiene que ir para que esta historia se convierta en un "must read" para tu TBR de autores locales. Esta novela escrita por JL Cedano, es una oda a la cultura taína que fue invadida por los españoles a finales del siglo 15 y comienzos del siglo 16. En esta historia que combina la fantasía con datos históricos, nos enfocamos en Leonardo, un joven español que estaba destinado a un futuro, al cual todo cambio cuando se fue de españa a boriken con su abuelo Theo, inclusive dentro de ese ambiente caribeño y nuevo, Leo no se siente como así mismo y pronto el destino tendrá un nuevo desafío para que el se enfrente y pueda reconocer de una vez por todas si en realidad está en el lugar que le pertenece. Esta novela incluye familia encontrada, lealtad, accion, cultura, historia y varios detalles importantes para que el lector se enganche con una historia tan nuestra.

Empiezo por decir que al principio como que no hacía “click” con la historia, incluso pensé dejarla a un lado, de hecho, lo hice por unos días. 😅 Luego decidí retomar la historia, releer las primeras páginas y no parar. Mientras más leía, menos quería soltarlo porque más intrigante se ponía.
Aunque el principio de la historia cuesta, lo vale, llegar al final y querer insultar al autor cuando lo lees es “priceless” (no diré por qué, cada lector lo quiere insultar por algo diferente).
Debo hacer la advertencia a algunos lectores que son como yo y nos gustan los capítulos cortos, este libro no lo tiene. Los capítulos son un poco extensos, aunque su letra es super cómoda y esto permite que no se vea TAN extenso cada capítulo. Por otro lado, recuerden que es fantasía con historia, no hagan como yo y den 20 brincos con la iguana y el coquí 🙃😂 (para entender deben leer).
¡Léanlo! Necesito hablar del final y de los animales 🤣🤣🤣🤣 antes que salga el segundo libro.
