🔥 Kentrell (The Caldwell Brothers Book 1) A deadly secret. A forbidden love. A night that changes everything.
Kentrell Caldwell was raised by the streets—and scarred by them. The son of a notorious Chicago pimp and his prized girl, Kentrell grew up fast, hard, and deadly. When his father was murdered, Kentrell believed he pulled the trigger. His mother took the fall, shielding him from the truth and the system. Now a feared hitman with nothing left to lose, he’s loyal only to his little brothers—and the job.
Until the next target is her.
Zoe Davis is the picture of top-tier attorney, polished, poised, and one step away from making partner at one of Chicago’s most powerful firms. She’s done everything right—except find love. One impulsive night, her girls convince her to let go, live a little, and give her heart a break from the grind.
She didn’t expect the mysterious man with the sharp eyes and quiet intensity to flip her whole world. She definitely didn’t expect to fall for him. And she has no idea he’s been hired to kill her.
When passion and past collide, the truth threatens to destroy them both. But the deeper Kentrell falls, the more he’s willing to risk everything—including the contract on her life—to protect the one woman who just might save him.
He was sent to end her. But he’d rather die than let her go.
Raw, emotional, and addictive—Kentrell is the explosive first book in The Caldwell Brothers series. A steamy urban romance packed with danger, secrets, and a love powerful enough to rewrite destiny.
Debut? For this to be this authors first book this was simply amazing! Kentrell as a FMC was so refreshing! He loved her and loved her properly! Even in moments when she lost herself he was there to remind her of who tf she was!
I gave this 4.5 stars only bc some of the sex scenes were too drawn out and in a few areas the FMC repeated the same sentence over and over! Other than that this was simple perfection and a gem that this space needed.
4.5✨This was a solid debut. The chokehold Zoe and Kentrell had me in must be studied because what?? I found myself eager to see how the secrets were revealed because of the unorthodox way they came together and how quickly they fell in love with a certain level of trust built - I was getting antsy! There were so many twists and lies/secrets, a bit of suspense and spice intertwined with good comedic relief. I gave 4.5 because it started slower than expected and there were some missing pieces in the story that were not fleshed out but overall, it came together well. It was definitely chess and not checkers. We Stan a calculated menace and lover boy. Good job!
My man my man my man! When I tell you Amillian wrote the hell out of this book I mean it! This book had me on cloud 9 and then some. To have been a Beta reader and watch it all come together made me feel like a proud mom 😊 Kentrell story is one I won’t forget. If you looking for a BDE MMC, mid strong (cause my girl folded and I loved it for her) FMC, drama, fire sex scenes, and some laughter this is your book….. ( I posted my notes and highlights, some consider that a spoiler)

Not sure where I saw it, but I read this was the author’s debut novel. 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 kudos! This was a solid first book. And I’m looking forward to Wani’s book.
Now as for this one, this read read like two; maybe three different stories in one. So many loops, some I’m not sure were even closed. For example, what happened to Star? Yam? Who was the person that overdosed?
And who was the mastermind behind all of this, Yam? Vivian? Who? There was all of this overlap between Kentrell’s and Zoe’s world- but I didn’t understand why. Was this just parallel experiences? I was confused. Also, who was responsible for Kenny’s death? The gun jammed, so who did it. Loops like this were not closed.
I also noticed some details within the same sentence would change. For example: one sec Kentrell was pulling his sweats down and the next Zoe’s touching his zipper. Things like this still didn’t take away from the overall story. I enjoyed Trell and Zoe, although she was kinda of childish. Trell was intentional with her, which was unexpected considering how he was introduced. Which we never saw that version of him again, so I didn’t understand why that was added in the story. Because what he did with Star and ole girl in the beginning- didn’t really matter.
The secondary characters were fun and added depth. I was not feeling the drama with Mars and Stacia. Also, that storyline didn’t seem to go anywhere or serve a purpose.
I loved the brothers and how they supported each other. I hope we get more of that in book 2.

Kentrell, Kentrell my apologies for judging you on the first page I didn’t know your game at all. First of all hitman trope grasped me in the beginning and held me all through 691pgs I love Kentrell and Zoe together. Now can we talk about the side characters though? Mars had no decorum at all. I enjoyed this book I can’t wait to read about them other Caldwell brothers especially Wani. Great debut novel
This was recommended to me and I fell in love with the characters before the 5th chapter. I love the trope of hitman falling first. I really enjoyed Kentrell & Zoe’s connection and insta love. There were moments of suspense, confusion and wonder because of what was happening but I loved how it all came together. I loved the side characters and really enjoyed the comedy!
Yasssss I loved this book. This is a new author for me and something told me to try it. I’m sooooo glad I did. I loved kentrell. Can wait for wani book! He is so funny 🤣🫶🏾
This was my first read by the author and while I enjoyed the growing love between Kentrell and Zoe, the book dragged out a bit. For the book to be 691 pages the author did not elaborate on a lot of things that were introduced in the story. I don’t want to add any spoilers but I think that the author introduced some drama but ended up brushing over it or wrapped it up neatly and quickly right at the end of the book. I’m looking forward to reading the next installment.
A lot was going on in this story and if we could get past all the unnecessary sex scenes we could actually get to the plot. The actual plot was there but we didn’t get enough of it even with 600+ pages. I’m usually not anti sex scenes but it was getting very repetitive and I found myself skipping through them to get back to the actual story which IMO got lost. This book could’ve been 2-300 pages less and would’ve hit the mark better for me.
For me the writing was not good and this author used AI generated art for the cover which is a huge red flag. I feel like the writing didn’t work for me/didn’t sound right because I’m sure Ai was used in the writing process.
