The adventure continues as Leon and the crew leave the frozen wastes for somewhere quite a bit warmer but no less dangerous. Finding themselves in a mighty Ziggurat as the playthings of a mysterious god, will Leon be strong enough to get through with his mind intact?
As he completes floor after floor with Soren and Elzbeth along for the ride, trouble closer to home brews. Adding to that the new and powerful addition of Leon's Domain and the capabilities therein, and our favorite knight out of time has his work cut out for him!
Follow along as the team delves the depths of illusion and monsters, pits their wills against that of a god, and fights without reservation for the sake of their friends.
Made it to Chap 6 but was far too annoyed by every single secondary character to go any further. So tired of these irrelevant, cloying, characters who add absolutely nothing. Hannah? Just about as useless as it gets. Chronic complainer. Lazy. Elzbeth? Too flippant and unserious. Soren. Lin Mah. Irrelevant.
Decent storyline. Nice world building. Just an utterly inane supporting cast that shows absolutely zero sense that they understand what is at stake and will just coast on the MC’s abilities to progress.
Love the MC, love the story just don’t like Hannah’s depiction of being a money grabber.
An excellent RPG book. Has all the tropes that an RBG fan would want. That’s why we read these type of books because we like all the tropes, a savvy and well-rounded main character, excellent side characters, great world building, good power progression. The only issue I have with this book is Hannah‘s depiction of being a money grubbing individual. Doesn’t seem to fit her character. Besides that I enjoy the story, even though the MC seems more clueless than he should be as far as having female companions are concerned, that particular issue makes me shake my head. Nobody. is that clueless. Going on to read the next book in the series, bravo.
This is a VERY well written series. I am not really a fan of "save the universe" stories as a general rule, but the characters in this story are so well constructed that I am completely hooked. The author's characters come across as people, not plot devices. There must be a dozen characters that I find myself caring about, wondering how their lives will go. Not just main characters, but people who first show up in book six, and have two lines of dialog. It's an amazing display of both literary talent and literary craft. I will read the next ten books, not just to see what happens to Leon, but to see how Janice gets along. I hope her life is good.
Words! I need better words to pull from the English language than one such as amazing, extraordinary, or even phenomenal. The journey continues for our favorite clan and the wonderful, even shy at times, definitely dense, Leon. The action and adventures, the shenanigans, and the emotion.. I adore this series. Read it. 10/10 recommend every time!!! I refuse to spoil things for future readers but it will leave you hungry for the next one, at this point I am starving for whatever Jay will throw at me to read. Hats off to you sir for another piece of the perfect puzzle!
This book continues to be an enjoyable and interesting story, much the same as the previous books. There is little increase in stakes or depth.
My main complaint is that the characters' relationships get too little focus and too much build up. New characters are not explored as thoroughly and the primary romance reaches a point that should be interesting but is glossed over instead.
It's still fun and the potential isn't lost, just missed. There's room to explore that potential of the characters' relationships in the future. I hope to see that next time.
I cannot express how much I love this series. It had a bit of everything a strong sword wielding MC, and a wonderful support cast. Can’t recommend it enough.
This story of a mid knight going to a cultivation world was awesome reading. In this book our guy finishes a series of dungeons and is off to something new. He has made his girlfriend a ring, but is scared to give it to her.
Not really enjoying the story , Leon hits things and is totally overpowered and a pretty boring character , Soren and Lin Mah have potential and Elzbeth and Hannah simply annoy the heck out of me and as for the romance ,it's simply ridiculous.
More main character being used for a thing we don't learn about for 4 books. He's going completely against his nature and being used as a puppet since book 4.
