A sunless city, a magical boundary, a demon around every corner—what could be better? Nothing, if you ask bright, bubbly Brioni. In fact, being trapped in the demon realm and assigned a letter carrier position might be the best thing that’s ever happened to her, even if she is one of only six humans in the entire town. Except there’s still something missing. Something that makes her feel truly wanted. Something that’s all hers and is maybe a little…deviant. The guilt of her past life and the strain of her new one have her seeking relief that she’s sure only the gruffest, grumpiest, growliest demon can give her.
Meet Ragnar—gruff, grumpy, growly, and gray. His magic and color were lost long ago, and with them went his civility. Self-sequestered to the outskirts of his homeland, the city’s resident beastkeeper would much rather spend his time taming ferocious animals than dealing with his fellow demons. Good thing Brioni isn’t a demon because she wants to be dealt with—in fact, she insists.
Brioni is sugary sweet and endlessly frustrating—everything Ragnar is looking for in a mate. She needles him and causes mischief, and Ragnar can’t seem to get enough of her brattiness, but he also can’t wrap his tail around the fact that her teasing is genuine evidence of infatuation.
Their attraction is instantaneous, and Ragnar would like to give her the punitive satisfaction she keeps hinting at, but at what cost? Will she continue to visit his reclusive corner of the woods after she gets what she wants? Will she know she has a choice once he gives in to his own possessive and domineering desires? Ragnar would rather give her the friendship he also knows she craves than ruin everything by indulging in the monster he believes he is. Brioni, however, is determined to win Ragnar’s heart…and every other part of him, horns included. Because Ragnar lives by one rule: trespassers will be punished.
Falling for Demons is a fantasy monster romance series set in a cozy and spicy shared world by authors Laura Winter and A.K. Caggiano. Each book can be read as a standalone novel but is interconnected, following six human women and their budding romances with the demons they once feared as they settle into a monstrously magical world.
Ashley is an indie author who likes to write silly little stories that hopefully bring readers joy. She likes cats, guacamole, feminism, and the internet.
The animals are my favorite part, although Brioni and Ragnar are great. The story is definitely exciting and laugh-out-loud funny in places. There is graphic sex and a well-deserved violent death.
📖 Bookish Thoughts I am truly obsessed with this series. Full ARC review to come!
🖤 What to Expect • Demon x human romance • Grumpy MMC • Sunshine FMC • Resident beastkeeper • Forced proximity _ _ _
📖 Final Score:5 Stars 🎧 Audio Score: 5 Stars 🎙️ Narration Style: Dual (Xander Stone; Cat Protano) 📅 Pub Date: March 31, 2026 Thank you to Dreamscape Media and NetGalley for the advanced listening copy. All thoughts are my own.
Without the stellar world-building this would be an easy one star review, all due to a too stupid to live heroine that had both the emotional maturity and the personality of a toddler and the sex drive of a nymphomaniac.
This book slipped into somewhat creepy territory, in my opinion. I have a lot of time for bratty heroines and kink in romance but this… wasn’t that. It’s hard to read a story about a woman so dangerously naive and without depth that she barely seems like an adult and see that as romantic in any way.
I also really despised the way that Brioni weaponized her cutesy nature to ignore and violate other characters boundaries throughout the book, especially Ragnar’s. Truly one of my least favourite sorts of romantic heroines. Not everyone is perfect, and not every character in a romance novel needs to be perfect either. But I struggled with the fact that Brioni’s manipulative behaviour was never addressed, even when the reason for it (her upbringing and fear of being unloved and alone) was acknowledged on page.
I really would have liked to see Brioni be held accountable for her actions and attitude. I think that would have gone a long way to making her feel less child-like and more like an adult on equal footing with Ragnar, rather than being infantile to the point of never needing to face consequences or grow as a character.
How Not to Tame Your Human Tease also featured some of the most awkward and narrarively disrupting fourth-wall breaking I’ve ever read. Weird, because I feel like Caggiano has managed that fourth-wall break, tongue in cheek narration very adroitly in previous books I’ve read. Unfortunately this one missed the mark.
I’ve really enjoyed all these books so far, but this one was written a little too tongue in cheek for me, especially since I was looking forward to this couple’s story. The asides that broke the 4th wall and almost… jabs… to the kind of silliness of the story took me out of it. Overall good, but not my fave and that makes me sad.
How Not to Tame Your Human Tease follows Brioni, the bubbly woman that delivers the mail in Heck and is a friend to all the other human girls, along with Ragnar, the reclusive beastmaster that we previously met in How Not to Charm Your Human Colleague. Brioni delivers a package to Ragnar, who has received medicine for his own sick dog. She's immediately enchanted by all the animals that he keeps, and especially intrigued by the very large, very broody demon who cares for them. When she keeps returning, Ragnar finds that he loves her silly questions and upbeat attitude, against his better judgement.
This is definitely my favorite of the series so far. There isn't much of a plot, and frankly, what little there is was resolved a little too quickly at the end. I still have questions. But that's okay, because everything else about this book is phenomenal. I'm in love with Caggiano's humor. She frequently breaks the fourth wall with her narration, making meta comments and including some very fun references ("If you're a demon... then why are you gray?" "Oh my god, Brioni, you can't just ask demons why they're gray!").
I also ADORE Brioni and Ragnar's dynamic. I was giggling and kicking my feet SO FREQUENTLY while reading, I couldn't put it down! And when I got to the spice??? I had to *cough* go be by myself for a while.
Like I said, this definitely takes the prize for my favorite of the series so far. I need more, and I need it ASAP!!!!
This was a cute and cozy palate cleanser read filled with A.K Caggiano's signature fourth wall breaks and tongue in cheek humour.
I liked Brioni and Ragnar together, the grumpy/sunshine dynamic is always one of my favourites to read so this book scratched an itch for me in that regard.
I do wish we had seen more of the wildlife/animals beyond what was already established in the former books though, just for the sheer fact that Ragnar is the beast master and with that title I just expected more...well beasts.
Overall it was a quirky, cute, fast read. No major complaints.
I am such a sucker for Caggianos writing so this was a hit for me. I felt like this was the most engaging and fleshed out installment of the series so far. And by far the spiciest. I liked Ragnar a lot as the MMC and Brioni was fine but not my favorite FMC.
I was happy to return to a more low stakes setting and plot (the last was much to high stakes for a “cozy monster romance” series IMO) and just get our soul bonding intimacy on in the barn.
I can’t rate this as a five though and here’s why! The overall series is disjointed AF! In the first book I felt like little cliffhangers would work themselves out and that just hasn’t happened yet and as we get closer to the end here- I’m worried they won’t. Even for this book individually, the villain felt misplaced. There was never really an explanation for what was going on with him.. major plots are occurring simultaneously but the books aren’t being cohesive enough for my buy-in. This series has the opportunity to be soooo clever but I’m only getting some of that so far! I get little teasers of the authors trying to tie things together but unless the last two books are sweeping question answer..ers, I don’t see that happening.
What is with the abrupt change in how these books are written? I enjoyed the first book written by A.K.Caggiano, but this was an absolute mess. First of all, the sudden inclusion of fourth-wall breaking was so jarring, completely out of context and out of left field, it did nothing but detract from this story. Which by the way, was not well-written to begin with. The FMC, Brioni, was a completely ridiculous and superficial character. Her obliviousness, the contrived way she behaved was so off-putting, combined with her self-absorbed behavior made her completely unlikeable. Ragnar was mediocre at best, but due to Brioni being so insufferable it is impossible to comprehend what made Ragnar even be attracted to her. The only enjoyable part of this book was the animals.
There's playfully bratty and then there's....borderline pedophilic when your fmc is essentially an overgrown hypersexual toddler? I couldn't get past the ick.
I love the characters, and I love being back in this world through AK Caggiano's eyes. We have come across Brioni, our cheerful mail girl, in the other books, and briefly met Ragnar as well as he largely deals with animals in town.
It was so wonderful to delve deeper into Brioni's character, beyond the sunshine exterior to the depths of who she is. Achingly human, and wanting somewhere to belong and call her own after a lifetime living on the outside. She has this way with everyone around her, even the animals, and doesn't see this overarching positive effect she has on them. This shortsightedness at her own positives isn't grating but feels so utterly relatable. Brioni really blooms into herself around Ragnar, including leaning into her lascivious feelings towards him. She's sweet on the outside and a bit spicy on the inside.
Ragnar was another wonderfully complex and yet complimentary character to our Brioni. He is gray, and therefore without magic, which is rare and a huge deal in the demon society. Ragnar has taken to working with a variety of animals on the outside of town away from society. He thinks he is content in this life until he meets Brioni. I love the way he cares for her, protects her, helps her while she is healing, and honestly, they had too many noteworthy moments. Just watching him go from mildly gruff, and happily alone to falling and considering ordering something so she'd have to deliver it to him (to see her) or taking her home from the infirmary to his home. These two might just be my favorite characters in the Falling for Demons series.
The only reason this wasn't 5 stars was there was a plot point, that I don't know if I could tell you what they were doing. Honestly, there were a couple of things with that which I am sure will be addressed in future books. It was not a big deal. It didn't negatively impact the story, and I am planning on continuing the series as it is anyway. This book breaks the fourth wall here and there throughout it, just as an FYI.
I loved this one. The characters, the pets (seriously all the pets), and being back in this world. 100% recommend it.
5+ stars for How not to tame your human Tease by A.K. Caggiano. And not just this book but the whole series is amazing. This series is a collaboration between laura winter and AK caggiano (series is not completed yet). What makes this book so great is the combination between a very engaging style of writing, It is funny, painful at moments (but never to much), the perfect balance between happiness and tragedy, it has depth, intrigue, mystery, lovable characters, characters that are not so lovable who get what they deserve, it is spicy, full of yearning and above all love. This book has depth and realistic relationships. I highly recommend reading the whole series in order. This series thus far portraits disabilities, less flattering human traits, background, sexuality, everything and everyone in an relatable, respectful and beautiful way. The way the author portrays her characters gives a (in my humble opinion) realistic image of their struggles and process. Book 4 gives us a very sunshiny FMC and a grumpy (misunderstood) MMC. It gives us animals and a strange mystery . I can’t wait for the next book! I highly recommend reading this series!! This is a cozy book but still please take care of yourself and check TW before reading. This book is intended for mature readers. I feel very honored to have received an ARC for book 3 and 4.
How Not to Tame Your Human Tease is the fourth book in the Falling for Demons cozy romantasy series. Each novel in the series can be read as a standalone but I highly recommend reading them all chronologically because of the world building of Heck and several characters make appearances in different novels.
We follow ray-of-sunshine Brioni, Heck’s endlessly sweet and bubbly mail carrier, with Ragnar, a reclusive demon devoted to caring for injured and misunderstood animals. What begins as a simple delivery quickly turns into a funny and emotional slow-burn romance as Brioni’s curiosity and warmth chip away at Ragnar’s gruff exterior. Their banter is witty and has some great yearning moments.
Brioni really just wants to belong, and Ragnar’s quiet loneliness makes their bond has overlapping in their needs and explains why they make such a great fit, as Ragnar really understands who Brioni is. As is true with other installments the addition of found family is present and heartwarming. If you are looking for a spicy grumpy x sunshine romantasy pairing this will definitely scratch that itch!
Thank you to the authors for the advanced reader copy.
“this Brioni as she called herself, was just willful. And willful beasts only needed to be tamed.” 🔥
4.5⭐️ ALC🎧 This book was just like its namesake, a tease… 🫦 however the tease was executed spectacularly!! I’ve read all the books in this series so far and this one has potential to take first place. It’s cute, whimsical, and humorous with just a pinch of trauma and the right amount of stakes to keep you entertained!
Ragnar is the best broody MMC with a sad backstory that’s matched perfectly with the bubbly, extrovert FMC, Brioni - that surprisingly has an even sadder backstory. Ragnar’s inner thoughts for Brioni from the start were just 🫠 There’s yearning, banter, brat/dom behavior, caretaking, spice that gets teased early but makes you wait, and so much more! I was excited for Brioni’s story after experiencing her sunshine throughout the series and this did not disappoint!!
The narrators did such a wonderful job too! They paced out the story well & managed to pack in so much emotion. It had me smiling and “awe”ing throughout.
🎭 Grumpy x Sunshine 🐾 Beast Master MMC x Mail Carrier FMC 🥵 “Good Girl”, Tail & Primal Play, & More! ☕️ Cozy Fantasy
I will admit, I really struggled to like Brioni in the beginning, but she did eventually grow on me once I got to see more of the real her. And the climax of the book (pun NOT intended) has her being really kick ass, which is great! Ragnar was a wonderful male lead. I did enjoy their relationship, though the dynamic between them was a bit odd to me (it made sense for the characters, it's just not my thing, but that's fine! My rating has nothing to do with that). This book does have some of the author's fourth-wall breaking comments, which I normally enjoy. However, in contrast to the books written by Laura Winters, it's strange to only have the fourth wall breaking in half the books. It's nothing terrible and does add to the humor. Overall, though, I did enjoy this book, though I still want to know what happened to the demon who went missing in book 1! Seeing a briefly mentioned development at the end of this book, I suspect it hasn't been forgotten. With 2 books left, there's plenty of time for that mystery to be solved (finally!).
Get ready to return to the demon world in its spiciest installment yet. I don't know what magic was sprinkled into this book but I couldn't put it down.
Brioni my beautiful ray of sunshine, with the utterly filthy inside thaughts, and suggestive outwards thaughts (to Ragnar). I was absolutely obsessed. How she embraces everything with so much positive enthusiasm.
Ragnar oh sweet unsociable Ragnar who much prefers the company of animals (I mean same) is not prepared for the whirlwind of Brioni. But soon can't stop thinking about her 🤭.
It was so nice to see more of the demon world and its animal inhabitants, I would very much love a pack of veilhounds.
There was the return of some familiar faces and some hillarious banter throughout. As well as an exciting rescue scene 🤭
I love how they work through their traumas together and are just so supportive of each other.
And then on the other hand the primal chasing scenes and other dirty shenanigans. I was a puddle on the floor by the end. 😅😅🔥🔥
A.K Caggiano does it again! Oh my gosh! I had such a fun time reading!! Caggaino loves to break the fourth wall and she does this MULTIPLEEE TIMES ohh my goodnes. I loved it so much!!! EEKKK. I love it when she writes grumpy x sunshine characters. Brioni is so cute bubbly and a kinky lil thang heehee.
This is probably indeed a spicer book she has written, and I am foorrr itt! We dive in a little deeper in brat x brat tamer and even PRIMAL PLAY. It is just soo delectable just ughh so good. I appreciate Brioni's priorities when she just flats out thinks to just stop running and proceeds to "fall" in order to get caught by Ragnar haha.
This was all the vibes and spice I needed and it was great! I can't wait to read the last two books!
I received the ARC from the author. This review is my honest and true thoughts
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
In the 4th installment of the Falling for Demons series we finally get to see who bubbly Briony really is beneath the cheerful armor she wears. And who brings out the true Briony? The brooding, introverted (and magicless) Ragnar.
On the outskirts of Heck, Ragnar trains and cares for the veilhounds used by the Guard. He spends most of his time alone (as he prefers), but then Briony drops by to deliver a package and his quiet, lonely life is turned upside down.
Underneath all the external differences, Ragnar and Briony have a lot in common (but I won't spoil that). Together they work through a lot of past baggage.
I devoured How Not to Tame Your Human Tease in a day. I loved the banter, the cameos of characters from previous books and two broken beings finding someone they could truly be themselves with.
Thank you A.K. Caggiano for letting me be an ARC reader for you again. ❤️
This is book four of a six book series and I don’t know if I can do two more…the first three were good I enjoyed the storylines and the characters. In this book the author kept breaking the fourth wall and referring to the author or the fact that this was a book. I couldn’t enjoy the book while being taken out of the story world. It happened way too often almost every chapter. Meanwhile the first three books didn’t do any of that nonsense. I don’t know why the author changed up her writing style or decided to refer to herself in the book. It just didn’t make any sense. I really enjoyed Ragnar, but Brioni’s intentions had to be spelled out in every interaction because she was an odd duck. But even with that I could get through and enjoy the book if it wasn’t for the author’s insistence on breaking the fourth wall.
A postmistress's work is never done, and sometimes it takes way too long to find who you're looking for. Brioni is a chatterbox and a people pleaser. It's served her well so far, amd she knows what she's doing. Ragnar lost his healing magic years ago, exiling himself to the edge of Heck to live with the animals in his barn. When Brioni finds the muscular, broad chested, grumpy demon they both know there's something there. The Author's trademark meta references always delight, which brings the reader deeper into the story. I love the detail and nuance of how the human and demon MC's interact. They each have some aspect that the other likes, but the wider implications of their situations threatens their futures. Ill never get sick of reading this series! Would you believe there are two more?? Run, dont walk!
Bubbly and sweet meets quiet and cranky, but not all is as it seems. Brioni is a tender hearted, curious, and a tenacious human stuck in the realm of Heck, a world run by colorful demons. But not all is how it seems.
Brioni isn’t anywhere she doesn’t want to be, in fact she’s quite happy with her situation. Her social meter is filled every day by interacting with others on her mail duties, and now that she has found Ragnar her curiosity is spiked tenfold for the better.
Ragnar seems brooding and bulky, but deep down he wants what any other animal trainer wants, someone to tame his heart.
In this delightfully spicy story, we are gifted witty banter and clever writing. I would expect nothing less from AK Caggiano though.
Another 5🌟 read from our girl AK. She has never let me down and i am loving the little worlds she creates. The characters - complex but relatable, and even when not relatable, they are truly likeable characters. The plot - cosy, low stakes, and incredibly sweet. The romance - 10/10. Going into this I worried because AK said this was her spiciest one yet, however, I like how it did not fall into the trap a lot of darker romances fall in, where the MMC is made to be an asshole just to enforce his dominating personality. With Ragnar, he is basically a gentle giant with a filthy side, and he is perfect the way he is.
Looking forward to the next one in this series, as well as the next book from AK. 😈🩶
A grumpy/sunshine dynamic written by A. K. Caggiano?? Yes PLEASE!
This is probably my favorite in the series so far! Brioni is just such a fun bubbly character, I’ve been looking forward to getting to her story, and this delivered!
Ragnar was the perfect balance to her, and I loved their dynamic. He’s the grumpy recluse who takes care of beats at the edge of town, and she brings color into his life. It’s always fun having animals around in a story, and we got so many in this one — they all get pets and boops and it’s wonderful.
This book was such a good balance of cozy, spicy, and sweet. Loving this series and looking forward to the rest!
If you see me blushing for the next week or two, keep that to yourself, or just pick this series up. AK and Laura are really in their element when utilizing intimacy as part of a character’s growth, not just a fun little break from the plot. This series continues to be sweet and spicy and altogether heartwarming! Def your book in this series if you love: grumpyxsunshine, a boundary respecting king, “touch her and die”, “funishment” (notes were taken), height difference, PUPPIES, etc.
Please note I have received a free copy from the authors of the series and am leaving this review voluntarily.
This was so fun! I adore Brioni and Ragnar and their energy together. I know this is a series of novellas, but I did like that this one was slightly longer. It was fun to let the romance burn a bit slower a create a little more anticipation. The storyline in this was also quite interesting. I was really looking forward to finding out about the mysterious letters. I do kind of wish that part was expanded upon just a bit more at the end, but I still enjoyed the action. Every time we get glimpses from the other couples from previous books, I get excited like I'm visiting an old friend. Can't wait to continue the rest of the series!
So I was kinda disappointed by these last two books in this series. I absolutely loved the first 2. But this one o had a hard time liking the Main Characters. I love the world and the idea of this book. But Ragnar was just really unlikable. He was incredibly mean to Bri, I know we got to see his inner monologue of why, but she didn’t and he was just cruel most the time. Couldn’t see why she would go back. Also the ending had me puzzled, like why did he go to that cottage? What did he say to the orange demon to get him captured? I’ll still read the next 2 in the series when they come out. I really want to know what happened to the last two girls who are living in heck.
Omg how is this the cutest little romance but also smut smut smuttyyyy?! Brioni is so playful and flirty and Ragnar is the perfect partner for her, a quiet loner demon with a commanding presence and a heart of gold. I loved their dynamic, their story is my favorite of the series! This author always nails the banter - it's funny and swoony and never cringe.
Its like 80/20 romance and plot which I usually don't enjoy, but the pacing is done so well 👏
I mean, in places it was a bit overly sweet - but luckily it's a book and not something that'll rot teeth.
The veilhounds were a nice addition, as was Moar the dog. I did find it a bit frustrating that the descriptions of the magical animals were so vague. We only get their weird names, but no real descriptions for what they look like. Except the veilhounds, really. And the weird cow-beast Stephan...
But unless I missed it, I don't even know what Moar the dog looks like, and really, how hard can it be to describe a dog...
This might just be my favorite in the series. Truly, this is my favorite demon romance series, and I can not get enough of this world. However, Brioni and Ragnar's dynamic just fits a specific love of mine that is hard to replicate. The brat/brat tamer vibes were literally impeccable, and the story was so sweet. Personally, I loved the 4th wall breaks. It was a refreshing way to add humor to the story. There was only one instance where it fell a little flat, but otherwise, I had a great time devouring this book!
