This is a wonderful collection of short stories that revolve around rubber and latex, although not always latex garments. Some of the stories are lesbian and a couple are homosexual but most are heterosexual. Overall, I would describe them as written for women since the stories are more romantic that sexual, but they were very enjoyable and I recommend reading this book to all.

Latex is a very kinky material. It's impossible to disguise it as anything but the stuff naughty people wear. One cannot wear it without attracting attention. These stories are mostly about average people being transformed when they wear latex: By putting on an unusual material they are able to explore feeling and desires they wouldn't normally try. It gives them the freedom or permission to expand themselves and explore new territory. It's fun and exciting to explore new territory through these stories.

I especially liked the story by Alison Tyler called Rubber Necking. A woman passes a lingerie store on her way to work every day and regularly admires the window mannequin in latex. One day she's involved in a car accident in front the store when she's distracted by the window display. After the accident she gets to meet the store owner and a closer inspection of the clothing follows. A very romantic story.

There are a few strange stories about rubber fetishes that don't really involve clothing, just the material and how it affects a couple of true fetishists. These stores are both hot and mind blowing. I won't go into detail but am reminded that the word “fetish” still means “a sexual obsession with an object” not just a description of naughty fashion.

There are stories by Shanna Germain, Alison Tyler, Radclyffe, Jean Roberta, Teresa Noelle Roberts, Rakelle Valencia, Rachel Kramer Bussel, Tenille Brown, and Thomas Roche, many well-known erotica writers.

Rubber Sex is one of the finalists for the National Leather Association International's Anthology award in 2008. In addition, this collection featured one of the finalists for the John Preston Short Fiction Literary Award: Thomas S. Roche's "Butterfly's Kiss," a story reminiscent of the best of Raymond Chandler with a erotic twist.
