The Rehoboth Retreat

Rate this book
Fresh off a divorce and armed with a label maker, lifestyle guru Miles Whitaker escapes to Rehoboth Beach to sip cocktails, reorganize his trauma, and find inner peace between color-coordinated throw pillows. Enter Hudson Hollywood’s most unfiltered trainwreck—sunburned, scandal-wrapped, and crashing the beach like it’s a red carpet afterparty.

One is a control freak with a Pinterest board for everything. The other thinks “self-care” means tequila in the shower. They shouldn’t work—but somehow, between beach walks, flaming exes, tabloid drama, and one truly deranged brunch—something real begins to unfold.

Toss in a meddling mother in a caftan, a media circus, and a career curveball no one saw coming, and suddenly this “relaxing” retreat turns into the plot twist of the summer.

The Rehoboth Retreat is a laugh-out-loud romantic comedy about unlikely chemistry, second chances, and what happens when love refuses to follow your carefully curated itinerary.

This was my first BJ Irons book and I LOVE his writing style so much! This is one of those books that is absolutely perfect for reading when you're on holiday, or just sat in your garden in the Summer. I loved the sass, humour and the whole tone of the book.

Miles really grew on me. We start the book with Owen's POV and I was like, this Miles dude sounds so intense and unapproachable, but when we get Miles's first chapter it's a really good reminder that there are always three sides to every story - both MCs POV and then the actual truth. By the end of the book I was fully team Miles and honestly pretty envious of his Pinterest lifestyle - I'm lucky if I have the energy to make dinner, let alone make it look stunning too!

Hudson was an interesting character. I didn't like him much until he was taken down by a sea shell...that sounds bizarre but it was definitely the moment where I started to see that there was another side to him. My only reason for not giving this a full five stars is the way the book ends on quite an unknown note. I wanted to see more of Hudson and Miles!

This book has a lot of potential, but certain parts of it didn't sit well with me. First off, it bugged me that Hudson's foot injury seemed to be instantly forgotten. He was told to stay off it and then immediately he's walking around on the beach constantly with an open wound on his foot. Hudson and Miles' relationship didn't really so much develop as spring up suddenly with a weird level of intensity. I think this entire book took place over one weekend?? But it felt like an entire summer affair was trying to be shoved into an incredibly compressed timeline. The ending was a bit odd too, with them not actually together, even though the signs were looking good for them. All in all, this book just feels like it needs a really good edit still.

This is the first book by B.J. Irons I read and it will definitely not be my last. I did not expect to be emotionally wrecked by this book. No part of me expected to connect to either of the characters as strongly as I did. At no time when I requested the ARC of this book did I expect to feel seen, understood or even less alone than I did prior to reading this stunning book. I will admit that I judged the book by its cover and expected it to be fluffy and fun nothing more. I am beyond glad I was wrong about my assumption - I guess there's a reason why people say not to judge a book by its cover. This book deserves infinite stars. ♾️⭐

Let me start with Cecilia. She deserves the Mother of the Century award for her antics. The woman is relentless, kind and genuinely wants what's best for her son. Does she meddle? ABSOLUTELY. Does she do it with the best of intentions? 1,000% YES. If it hadn't been for her gentle, yet wholly unsubtle nudging and meddling Miles wouldn't have taken the plunge and Hudson probably wouldn't have known what to do and most likely wouldn't have taken the time to see where things could go. Thank you Cecilia for doing exactly what you should have done when you technically shouldn't have done it. 🏆❤️

Owen, I hope you're somewhere living out your days unfulfilled and alone. You're disgusting. None of what you did was justified. NONE. OF. IT. 😠

Now on to Miles and Hudson. I came into this expecting to laugh and enjoy the journey. Both of which I did. But what I found was so much more than that. The cover makes it look like this book is going to be laugh-out-loud funny (which at some points it was), but it is so much deeper than that. I might sound repetitive but it has to be said.

They won me over, they took ownership of my heart and now occupy a permanent residence inside my brain and soul. Miles with his type A personality, his anxiety and the pressure he puts on himself to be perfect. To portray this perfect image of what people expect him to be. Hudson with his brash, unfiltered and unapologetic personality. He yearns for someone to see him for more than just the messed up celebrity that the tabloids make him out to be.

I didn't walk into this thinking I would see myself in these characters. But I did. I saw myself in Miles when his heart shatters at his husband's betrayal. I saw myself in him as he worked to put the pieces of his life together. I saw myself in Hudson when he messed up and wanted so badly for someone to see him and not what the world wanted him to be but to see HIM. I saw myself as they walked down the path of "unscripted" territory towards something new. I felt their anxiety, their insecurity, their happiness and their love. This book felt honest and authentic. It wasn't just another romance book, it was a unique story.

As I read this wonderful book, I have come to see that everyone with a type A personality (me included) need a Hudson in their lives to show them what life can be like if we learn to go off script and live a little outside the lines. I also realize that every Hudson needs a Miles in their lives to show them that life can be unscripted and still have some structure to it. They balance each other perfectly and somehow even though they are complete opposites they create a perfect blend of structured chaos (the good kind).

Their story will stay with me for a long time, I'm sure of it. The banter, the slow burn and the build up were perfectly fitted to them. In my head they will always be in Rehoboth enjoying walks on the beach, delicious meals prepared by Miles, regaling Cecilia with stories of their lives and falling in love with each other again and again with no end in sight. ❤️

They say opposites attract, and I think Hudson and Miles are a perfect example of this. Hudson is a self-proclaimed ‘Hot Mess’, an actor who keeps finding himself in the middle of scandals and has been sent to Rehoboth Beach to fix his image. Miles is an anxiety-ridden, neurotic online guru whose husband decided to cheat his way out of their unhappy marriage.

For the first third or so of the book, I wasn’t sure if this was for me. Once introductions had been made in the form of POV from Owen, Miles, Cecelia, and Hudson, it thankfully went down to just Miles and Hudson from then on. However, the first third was also so incredibly detailed, like every tiny thing they do, that I found myself skimming a bit. I also think it would have made more sense to just make the house Miles’, even if he needed space. It makes more sense than believing he had carted his extensive collection of dinner sets with him to a house he didn’t own.

The rest of the book, though, I really enjoyed. Despite them not really matching on paper, they made each other better. Miles calmed Hudson down, and Hudson made Miles live a little. The humour was tinged with sadness, but it also lifted the mood when Miles’ life just kept taking blows. I loved Miles’ mother, Owen turning up at the end was predictable but I loved the way they all handled him. Miles may have had his issues but he didn’t deserve what Owen did. I wasn’t sure about the epilogue, but that’s because I’m a hopeless romantic (when I’m reading anyway), so I’m very much hoping that there will be a book two for these two and I can’t wait to find out what they get up to.

Different but entertaining, and I read it all in one sitting, so despite my rocky start, I found it enjoyable to read.

Miles (celebrity organiser / chef) has the 'perfect' life, but is still overwhelmed with anxiety. In an effort to do something lovely for his husband, he walk in on his husband… and an affair in progress.

One divorce later Miles takes a reboot weekend at the beach, where he meets Hudson. He is a walking tabloid disaster, complete chaos and the opposite of everything Miles hold dear.

I enjoyed this book, I appreciate Miles organisational prowess. Hudson is the quintessential scandle, hiding behind a devilish smile. They both had a nice arc within the book with growth on both parts. Miles' Mum is a riot too. A closed door romance with lots of heart feeling and the risks people take for love.

However I think a lot of the effort the author put in to the aesthetics and food side of the settings were lost on me. I'm sure if your a foodie or into pintrest worthy staging, you will enjoy this on a deeper level.

The Rehoboth Retreat has got just the right amount of messy feelings, light steam, and “someone’s about to set the kitchen on fire” energy.
Miles is trying to fix his whole life using color coordination of his linen closets. Meanwhile, Hudson’s just over there being pure chaotic tequila in glitter. How does that combo even work?? Weirdly, it proves opposites really do attract.

Honestly, I was giggling, and straight-up melting all at once. It’s snarky, wild, but also low-key adorable when you least expect it.

First off! Tequila in the shower is 100% self-care and no; I will not be taking questions at this time. This was such a fun beachy summer read. This was the definition of opposites attract. Myles is type A and Hudson is a bit of a loveable mess. It is not quite a HEA, more of a HFN, ending. We shall see what comes next.

Miles needs a retreat after his husband cheated on him and they divorced. As an internet irganuzation and cooking guru, he portrays a perfectly curated life, and largely, lives it.

Hudson is a train wreck, an actor with so many scandals he’s can’t count them, and his manager sends him to Rehoboth to lay low and try to recover his reputation. He and Miles end up as neighbours who grate on each other’s nerves.

A foot injury on the beach leads Miles to help him out, and there’s an odd connection they feel then. They end up spending time together, where Miles shares the secret of his divorce and Hudson tells him about his ex as well.

Of course, the media catches them after an innocent kiss, and smiles’ reputation is at risk. Hudson helps him, and he realizes he’d rather be genuine than try to fake his way through.

The media eats up their budding feelings, and Hudon is offered a film role. He and Miles part, both wanting more but knowing it’s not the right time. A year later they both feel the same, Hudson has cleaned up his act, Miles has expanded his brand, and they agree to meet again and see what happens.

This is a sweet story, with opposites attractions, but things are left at odd loose ends. Miles’ ex having a chapter that shows him as reasonable, then villainizes him when he cheats, confuses the story.

Miles takes a long time to realize he needs to be more genuine and less perfect, and that also doesn’t seem to change much.

The best character is Cecilia, Miles’ Mom, who is supportive, then villainizes him voice if reason, and someone who can sees past Hudson’s crap to his caring side.

I received this ARC for free and am glad to post my honest review with appreciation.

I wanted to like this book and at times I did but overall it wasn't for me. It was very repetitive and not much happened. There were multiple instances of a character "letting out the breath he didn't know he was holding" and this is such an overused sentence in most books that as soon as I see it once I lose a faith that I'll ultimately enjoy the book. The author constantly compared one thing to another "… sun had barged in… like it paid rent," "… bones popping like bubble wrap," "… lit up like a slot machine," and this was all on the same page. There was soooo much cooking and it was so descriptive that I started skimming those parts. I think it would have been better if there was less of these things and more substance, and I would have probably given it a higher rating. This is the first time I've read a book that was mostly about the foodie/influencer world and I'm not interested. The characters acted like they were half their age. I would have liked to have learned more about Cecilia as her life seemed the most interesting.

Overall, an ok romance story. I liked the story, setting, and the characters seemed likable. Some of the characters even added a little bit of humor. What I didn’t like was how wordy portions of the book were. The author went to great lengths to describe things throughout the story. I didn’t want to read pages and pages of one of the characters cooking only to read about another cooking session later in the book again. I get that the author was trying to show how meticulous the character was, but in a romance novel, it distracted from the romance theme. I also didn’t like the overall pacing of the story. The pacing seemed slow without enough action. The two main characters didn’t even interact until about a 1/3 of the way through the story. I feel like the story could have been streamlined and condensed a bit and it would have made for a better romance story overall. 5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This was quite a rollercoaster ride of a read, husbands Miles and Owen are living the life of a male Martha Stewart. Everything in their life is perfection until Miles catches Owen in someone’s house naked with another man. That was it, all done and dusted and weeks later they are divorced and Miles takes off for a long weekend break to Rehoboth Retreat in Delaware.

Oh and he brings his lovely Mom with him. She, with all her floaty gorgeous kaftans and always with a glass of something in her hand even at breakfast, it might actually be her breakfast, it’s also her lunch, dinner and nightcap. She is a great Mom to Miles. I really liked her personality. She is also liked by the man who lives next door to the Beach house where she and Miles are holed up for the next 4 days. According to Cecelia, Miles, her sons is ‘a borderline lunatic when it comes to aesthetics’, everything has to be perfect.

Very Bad Boy Actor and Star, Hudson Knight swore when his agent told him to go hide away until his latest scandal ran its course, but he was shocked that she was sending him to some nowhere place, Rehoboth Retreat. In Delaware!!!!! Kill him now. Nothing prepared him or his next door neighbour on the beach Miles, for what happened over the next four days. So much was crammed into those 4 days which felt more like the activities of an annual 2 week break.

Miles and Hudson are hurling insults at each other over Hudson’s noisy parties, walks along the beach in the moonlight and sunshine, sneaky photos being taken and published on line, fans unsubscribing in their thousands, and all that was happening to the strait laced Miles who never puts a foot wrong, never a hair out of place. Now realising ghat something was happening between them, a shock appearance sends all progress crashing down when someone insults Cecelia, Miles’s beloved mother.

Yep all in 4 days, how one’s world can turn upside down and leave you broken on the beach like a stranded whale.

I received a free ARC copy of ‘The Rehoboth Retreat’ via BookSirens and this is my honest review given voluntarily.

Author BJ Irons, sure has a way with words. The way he describes, taste, colours, smells, sights and sounds, and touch had me feeling and seeing whatever he was writing about. I even wanted to stop reading for a few minutes and go on line and look for Kaftans like Cecelia’s. Don’t even get me started on his descriptions of the food dishes that Miles created that had everyone drooling. 🤭

I did like seeing the way that Miles slowly began to let loose though it was a slow burning road to get what he wanted. Hudson gets a big surprise too. The Epilogue started out bit a scary but had a surprising wrap up that left me smiling happily.

Cute and healing rendezvous...

Ok so I liked this book… It drew me in with great world building and heartbreak with the hope of something more. It just feels like the more was incomplete. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily. I loved the characters, the descriptions that made me feel like I was dining with them at every meal. Although I'm not sure I've ever looked up so many terms and references in a book. Miles was phenomenal in every way. Mind reels on how anyone could mistreat someone with such perfection, but apparently his husband Owen was tired of said perfection and betrayed him. Enter Hudson Knight, hot bad boy actor and the most beautiful mistake to flop into Miles's life. I loved the chemistry between these two with the hilarious enemy to lovers' vibes. Except they weren't really lovers since they did nothing more than kiss for an entire book. Now I'm torn between being upset that it seems unfinished and more of a cliff hanger or appreciating that it was very realistic in terms of healing and finding yourself after a divorce. I guess if you're going to give me instantaneous love in a weekend, I don't understand the incomplete HEA unless there's a sequel in store. I just wanted more and at times it felt like the rug was pulled again and again, every time that they got closer to being together. "And maybe that’s what love really is. Not the dramatic gestures or cinematic reunions. Not the kiss in the rain or the grand speeches on airport tarmacs. Maybe it’s the quiet ache that never fully leaves. The text you never send. The photo you never like. The face you still see when you close your eyes." I loved their connection. Miles and Hudson deserve a real happy ending that's not a cliff hanger and hopefully there's a sequel coming to give them that.

Miles, often referred to as the ‘gay’ Martha Stewart, shares advice on topics ranging from food to lifestyle and has built a business focused on professional organization. He takes pride in maintaining high standards, but his seemingly perfect life unravels after discovering his husband’s infidelity, leading to divorce. Seeking a fresh start, Miles retreats to the beach, only to find himself next to a well-known actor, Hudson. Hudson is hiding from the public eye after a recent scandal, and his agent recommends a quiet beach community for privacy. An initial encounter with his meticulous neighbor sparks Hudson’s interest in learning more about him and challenging his routines. As they spend time together, both begin to reveal their authentic selves and develop a connection. When their relationship attracts media attention, they must confront whether this exposure will jeopardize their careers, their budding romance, or both.
I found it challenging to connect with the story, as the main characters felt overly different and difficult to relate to. Miles’s meticulousness was at times overwhelming, and his daily routines appeared unrealistic. Although the food preparation scenes were enjoyable, the detail provided was excessive. Hudson’s depiction as a stereotypical playboy lacked nuance, and his quick transformation after meeting Miles was unconvincing. Cecelia emerged as the most engaging character, and her perspective would have been of greater interest. The narrative addresses the difficulties of maintaining privacy as a public figure, yet the characters’ surprise at being exposed seemed unlikely. Overall, the story did not meet my expectations for a romance, as the protagonists ultimately chose separate paths rather than a traditional happy ending. Sometimes you need a book to cleanse your mind and this was it for me. I had been reading a lot of the same and wanted a change.

Miles is flying high with his life. He is married to a real estate mogul. He owns his own organizing business and is referred to as the gay Martha Stewart. When his husbands calls to say he will miss dinner due to a showing Miles makes a meal he can bring to Owen to keep him from eating fast food. He does not expect to find his husband with another man. Miles is now getting divorced and needs a getaway so he calls his mom for help. Even though he has a house in Rehoboth he asks if they can rent her friends home. She does and the two head away for a quiet weekend at the beach.

Hudson is a Hollywood actor who is in the middle of a pr nightmare. He is being accused of being a homewrecker. So his agent is sending him to the beach to lay low and let the story die down. So when he sets foot on Rehoboth beach he starts to throw parties and invites all the men he can find. He never expects to upset his neighbor while doing that. However while partying he ends up stepping on something and cutting himself all up. The only person that comes to his side is the neighbor he has been irritating.

Will Miles help Hudson get his life back organized? Will Hudson realize there is more to Miles than just organizing? Will Hudson spoil Miles to the likes he has never seen? Will it be what he wants? Will Miles' mom Cecelia help in putting the two together? Will Owen come back and try to win Miles back?

Such a fun read, I could read more from these two plus Cecelia

Love After Divorce Love Triangle

Owen is a gay man who has been married to Miles Whitaker for seven years. His husband, Miles, is considered the "gay Martha Stewart" for his home decor and cooking. Miles was busy baking a home cooked meal for them, and Owen called to say he was running late and would pick up fast food. Miles tells his mother, Cecilia, that he is going to divorce his cheating husband, Owen. Miles takes his mother, Cecilia, with him on a vacation to Rehoboth Beach. Another gay man, Hudson, has just purchased a very fancy house in Rehoboth Beach. When Miles Whitaker meets Hudson Knight, they hook up and do not cuddle after the fact. Hudson Knight's house is like Jersey Shore with big, loud parties. Miles Whitacker's house is quiet as he entertains his mother. Hudson tries to smooth Miles over, but he is really upset about the noise. After Miles ghosted the Hudson's party, Hudson ends his party and goes to the gay nightclubs looking for Miles. Hudson finds Miles at Aqua.

Hudson kisses Miles. They don't go to bed together right away. Miles cooks his mother and Hudson breakfast. They start to go on romantic dates.Though Miles' social media career is damaged from being with Hudson, he continues to cook dinner for Hudson and his mother. Hudson is falling fast and hard in love and doesn't want to ruin it. After they slept together the first time, they got breakfast. Of course, Owen comes back, calls Miles' mother bitter, and then gets in a tousle with Hudson. Will Miles forgive his cheating ex-husband, Owen, and take him back? Will Hudson and Miles go their separate ways or stay together?

ALPHABET BOY MEETS CHAOS GREMLIN! 💕

I love BJ Irons as an author that likes to take his readers on a fun journey with his characters!

“This looks like a Pinterest board had sex with a cookbook and this is the gay little brunch baby they made.”

These two characters are so different but so similar in their respective ways.

“a solo recalibration. Healing. Coastal solitude. A perfectly curated palate cleanser for the soul. But then Hudson Knight happened.”

Newly divorced Miles Whitaker takes himself and his best friend of a mother Cecelia on a self healing retreat for soul peace, cooking and blogging for his followers at Rehoboth Beach, Delaware while trying to get over his broken heart 💔

Hasbeen tabloid fodder actor Hudson Knight retreats to Rehoboth Beach to lay low after a scandalous breakup and this is where the chaos demon 😈 meets Alphabet Boy- lifestyle influencer guru on instagram- Miles Whitaker!

“That man was a walking paradox—cold as quartz one second, then warm as a sunbeam if you looked”

They have the most amazing impact and influence on each other which can only lead to more chaos and heartbreak in the long run…

Devine Brunches, interfering fans, wild parties, a wise interfering mother, jealous exes and a beach town they both will never forget!

An open ended epilogue will lead the reader to make their own conclusion so enjoy! 😉

I would like to thank GRR for the opportunity to read and review this ARC.

Oh my WOW I absolutely A D O R E D THIS BOOK!

I looooooved the energy in the narrative and I pretty much highlighted something from every chapter stg! Irons' storytelling style was plush and decadent, with phrasing that had me howling and rereading and stacking kindle notes like it was my job. And the story itself was tons of fun to read! Bright and buoyant with great flow, I srsly could not get enough of this!!

The characterization was stunningly top tier! Miles and Hudson practically flew off the page, they were so brilliantly rendered! Textured, silly, luscious, bold…the narrative kept serving and I ate the entire thing up gleefully!

And ok yes sure the ending was a bit unhinged, but from start to finish I was hooked on everything The Rehoboth Retreat had going on, and I thought this wild ride was sensational overall!

This was my first B.J. Irons but it most definitely won't be my last! Happy to have discovered this sweet, effervescent, charming beauty of a read, and I'm very much looking forward to everything else Irons releases in the future because The Rehoboth Retreat was a marvellous good time!

I rounded up to 4 stars, but I'm thinking more like 3.5. This was billed as a romantic comedy, but I don't see where the comedy comes in - perhaps the author and I don't agree on what's funny.

This is the story of Miles, recently divorced (he's a mess of anxiety and drama, so I don't know that I personally blame Owen for wanting out), and Hudson the actor (someone who spends his days hungover and his nights sleeping around). I really didn't like either of them. They are total opposites, yet they manage to have an interesting, drama filled week together at Rehoboth Beach. Yes, there's water and sand and parties. There's also crying and pouting and tantrums. There's a LOT of food - fancy food that gets a lot of detailed description (Miles is a successful lifestyle influencer). And lots of descriptions of fancy clothes and table settings. These are RICH people. I don't think there's any actual sex in this book - too much drama to get to that. It's also not a HEA, but it IS a hopeful ending.

This book was weird and different, and like nothing I usually read. I did find it entertaining, though, and did read it all in one sitting.

I became a huge B.J. Irons fan after reading The Cul-de-Sac where the 80s/90s soaps like Melrose Place and Knots Landing were perfectly captured and here Irons has done it again by capturing the classics of the lifestyle genre like Martha Stewart in the character of Miles, a man trying to recover from spousal betrayal and a divorce by spending some time in Rehoboth Beach (kudos to Irons also for a location new to me). There he meets Hudson who is there trying to smother his personality and follow advice to stay out of the limelight and hopefully rehabilitate his reputation or at least let people forget the latest scandals. It turns out that with a bit of meddling from Miles' mother and some time spent together these two are the perfect yin/yang combination. Each finds a bit of the other's personality in himself and they balance each other out perfectly. I adored Miles' mother Cecilia, I adored learning things about Rehoboth Beach and I wallowed delightedly in all the descriptions of decorating, cooking - all the lifestyle stuff. I wanted the worst for Miles' ex- and really, really hope there is at least one more book coming about these two.

This was quite an interesting story. Don't be discouraged at the beginning when the chapters appear from four different perspectives. Rather quickly we're left with the main characters: Miles and Hudson. The beginning wasn't very engaging due to the long descriptions of food, wine names, and prestigious restaurants. But later, once the characters reached Rehoboth Beach, it got much better. It was a different kind of romance than the ones I've read before. But different in this case does not mean worse. We have two characters healing their wounds. One is controlling and pedantic, which is why he can't cope with the breakup of his relationship. The other is chaotic, impulsive, and unable to commit to a relationship. They both learn something from each other and help each other through the difficult times. The book has an interesting ending, it's not a typical HEA, and I liked that approach, it suited the development of the characters. Good read.

Miles is a lifestyle guru, famous for his organizational skills, tablescapes, recipes, and picture-perfect life. But when his perfectly curated life falls apart, he escapes to Rehoboth Beach for reflection and rejuvenation, determined to figure out how to get his life back on track.

Hudson is a Hollywood actor, party boy, and full-time chaos agent. After his latest scandal, his agent sent him to Rehoboth to lay low and stay out of trouble. The two men seem destined to hate each other, but somehow, they don't...

I loved this book! Miles and Hudson are great characters who are fully fleshed out, allowing us to see how a romance between the two could develop so easily. Irons also does a great job setting the scene - everything from the homes, to the beach, to the nightlife, to Miles' exquisite dinners are shared in great detail, really making you feel like you're there. This book ended on an HFN, and I'm very much looking forward to continuing this story in the next book.

I knew first chapter in, that this wasn't the book for me. I did not find it fall on the floor laughing, which I expected., I really didn't think it hit the promise of the blurb. Miles had the "perfect" marriage, until it wasn't. I'm not an advocate of cheating, but maybe Owen was being suffocated by his Pinterest perfect hubby. It wasn't an admirable way out, true. Hudson is a Hollywood "Bad Boy". His bratty recklessness must have given his agent ulcers. Their chemistry was a little rough, and even opposites attract doesn't make up for it.
On a more positive note, the worldbuilding makes Delaware seem lovely. The author does get bogged down in the details, though. Story pacing was good. The first third or so of the story was a tad chaotic, but it did settle down. I don't know if the author was aiming for a HEA. It felt more HFN.
I received an advanced copy from GRR and this is my review.

4.5 stars; I really enjoyed this dual POV romance about stepping outside of your comfort zone. This is a somewhat angsty opposites attract story between a chaotic and scandal ridden Hollywood celebrity and a detail oriented, perfectionist lifestyle guru. Hudson Knight is sent to Rehoboth Beach, Delaware after another scandal to lie low. Miles Whitaker heads to Rehoboth Beach as a retreat and reset after a divorce and is staying there with his mother, Celeste. Instead of serenity, he finds out that he has Hudson as his next door neighbor The two men end up being intrigued and feel really seen by the other after a rocky strat to their relationship. Miles has to learn to let go and be a bit more spontaneous and Hudson has to learn to stop hiding behind his "bad boy" image. I enjoyed the banter between the two men. I also really liked Miles' mother, Celeste, and how she championed Miles. This book didn't have a lot of spice but was a really enjoyable read.

This book ended on an HFN, and I'm very much looking forward to continuing this story in the next book

They say opposites attract, and Hudson and Miles are a perfect example. Hudson is a self-proclaimed “hot mess,” an actor who keeps landing in scandals and gets shipped off to Rehoboth Beach to repair his image. Miles is an anxious, neurotic lifestyle guru fresh off a messy divorce. On paper, they don’t make sense, but together they bring out the best in each other. Hudson helps Miles loosen up, while Miles gives Hudson a much-needed anchor.

The humour balances out the sadness in Miles’ story, and I adored his mum. Owen’s arrival at the end was predictable but still satisfying and I liked how they handled it. The epilogue wasn’t exactly what I’d hoped for (the hopeless romantic in me wanted more), but fingers crossed we get a sequel.

This story has the perfect mix of messy feelings, light steam, and “someone’s about to set the kitchen on fire” vibes. A sweet, heartfelt read that proves opposites really do attract.

Few books make me laugh out to the point that the others in the coffee shop looked at me, but this book did that. I needed a break from reading all these emotional books to a fun read. This was the perfect selection for grading a glass of your favorite beverage and spend the afternoon reading. Miles and Hudson could not be more different but somehow connect. I loved how Myles organized and percise life has been thrown into a tizzy after his divorce, but thrown even more so when he meets scandal ridden Hudson, Hollywood star, at the beach. The author doe a perfect job painting the reader with a vivid description of of the people. and places in this book. These opposite belong together and since it ends with a HFN, I am. hoping for more from this couple. I did receive an ARC and leave this honest review.

Fresh off a very private divorce, Miles has retreated to Rehoboth Beach to reset his life. Not wanting to spend the long weekend with memories of his unfaithful ex, he decides to rent a nearby beach house with his mother. Unfortunately, the monstrosity next door has recently been purchased by the poster child for bad decisions, Hudson Knight. Go someplace quiet, lie low, let the latest scandal blow over his agent says. And that's how they ended up next door to each other. Miles's brand is basically the gay Martha Stewart, perfect life, perfect tablescapes, perfect husband, that is until Owen's dick decided to take a detour. They could not be more opposite if they tried, and it seems to work for them. Miles smooths Hudson's rough edges, and Hudson gets Miles to be a little more spontaneous.

Both Miles and Hudson have headed to Rehoboth to get away. They were getting away from very different things however which spoke to the very different men they happened to be. Miles is tightly controlled in his approach to life and when things begin to unravel he needs to get away for a break and in hopes of finding his way back to the stable, ordered life he built and was trying to hold on to. Hudson was the definition of troublemaker, party boy, scandal magnet and he is dispatched to Rehoboth for damage control. His agent hopes that if Hudson keeps a low profile things will settle down. Things should not make sense between them but somehow they do. Retreating to Rehoboth brings them together but will they last in the real world? This was a fun relationship launch beach read.

ARC edition

Picture yourself standing in line at the grocery, the magazine covers catch your eye, and you think "Oh, god - now what did he do?" Is it a reaction to yet another drunken, probably mostly nude, scandal or did you start salivating thinking of yet another culinary presentation waiting in those glossy pages?
Now imagine those two articles colliding . Probably scandalous. Definitely newsworthy!
Grab yourself a cocktail and a few snacks - doesn't matter what as they will be an utter disappointment compared to what is served up to you in this book - and prepare for a long weekend in Rehoboth. A refreshing romp with splashes of The Odd Couple and undertones of Christmas in Connecticut.

I can honestly say this was my first book from this author. It was a really good read. Miles and Hudson. They were polar opposites, but somehow the puzzle pieces fit together.

Better than it did with his ex. Betrayal breaks someone deeply. You destroy something good, there's no going back. Plus I didn't think thier puzzle pieces fit.

I am glad that Miles found love again. To learn taking risks can be scary. To learn what you hold unto, what you let go of. Love is messy. It's worth it when you got something good..the right one

Miles and Hudson made me feel all emotions. Now the ex, I wanted to punch him.

I'd recommend to read this book. I'm looking forward to more books in the future.
