He ends up walking her home the next few nights. When they go on a date it is interrupted when she sees her masked stalker. The next night, Ash picks Emily up after work and they go back to his house. They don’t waste any time before they’re tearing each other’s clothes off. Things are a little different the next time she’s over though. Emily is wrapped up with Ash when another man walks into his room…his identical twin. After, she’s imbarssed and hurt that they tricked her. She’s ever more upset that she liked it. This story is heavy in the dubious consent dempartment. The spice is in literally almost every chapter, but there is also mystery and great characters. The ending was such a surprise twist that it will have you reevaluating how you judge unhinged characters.

Renate has yet to write a book I don’t love.
Between her writing and the amazing characters she crafts, it’s always a pleasure to read one of her stories.
This one was so different from any of her other works and I love that she went for the dark romance.
The story works so well with all its twists and while it almost feels low on plot for the benefit of SO much spice, ultimately the book had a lot of substance.
It was just between the lines and built mostly from character dynamics (which is my fave kind of dark romance so I’m very much here for it).
Mason and Ash are both such intriguing characters in their own ways and while it took me a bit to connect with Em, I really enjoyed watching her grow into herself.
There was one scene that had me almost DNF, but not because the book isn’t great, far from it. It’s that I have one single trigger and sadly that is a broad one and hit me out nowhere.
I’m so glad that I ultimately pushed through, however!
That ending? Seriously? Amazing! I did NOT see it coming and for a while there I had no clue how Renate would resolve this. And then she went and did THIS? Loved it!

I received the honor of being an ARC reader for Renate Rowland’s newest book, Freaks of Nature. What a wild ride. I had expectations going in based on the author’s blurbs and advertisements which made me excited to dive in. I laughed at the FMC’s rant on page one. When she said, “I should grab the bull by its horns and ride him, or however that saying goes.” This was a good sign. Then it got dark, but in a good way, for my little depraved mind anyway. I marked and highlighted a moment of foreshadowing, then immediately forgot about it because I got sucked into the story. I only remembered it at the end when I was reviewing my highlights and thought to myself, “Damn, she told us what was going on right there, I just didn’t see it yet.”
Every emotion I have was brought forth while reading this - fear, anxiety, anger, excitement, surprise, and so many more. I was squealing like a schoolgirl at budding romance and fanning myself like a southern belle when things got spicy. I whispered “WTF?” to myself so many times. I stayed up two hours past my bedtime because I was invested in the orgasm competition. Rivals competing for who can give little miss Emily the most orgasms? Yes, please. Then came the mystery and suspense. The last 10 to 15% of the book had me literally hunched over my dining room table, ignoring my breakfast and even my coffee to find out what happens next. Listen, NOTHING makes me ignore my coffee, ever. This is unprecedented.
This was the first ARC I signed up for, and now I’m hooked. I already follow Renate Rowland on all of my social media accounts, now I will be stalking ;) her pages for more opportunities. She has me addicted to these fictional deviants and I love it. Thanks for the ride Renate! I enjoyed every WTF-moment and I’m not even mad about the sleep.
If you enjoy reading about masked strangers following the sexy waitress through dark alleys and handsome, motorcycle-riding bad boys who come to the rescue, pick this one up, you won’t be able to put it down.

Plot: 3/5 • Smut: 5/5 ———> For 15% up until about 65% of this book is mainly smut. She’s tossed around (sometimes literally) between two identical (pierced) twins brothers. The smut is good, do not get me wrong, but at some point ya gotta say enough is enough. Unless that’s what you’re looking for. I wasn’t expecting it, so I anticipated more plot. After the 65% mark we start to get a little more into the story. But you gotta make it till then.
We do get an HEA. Not exactly hearts and flowers kind of HEA, but for this type of read it was in fact a happy ending.

I was lucky enough to be chosen to ARC read - Freaks Of Nature (which I almost lost out on due to my stupid kindle) BUT nevertheless Renate was so patient with me and didn’t give up which I am SO thankful for because this book had me in a chokehold💀👏🏼🖤 This was hands down the SPICIEST book I have ever read!!🥵🌶️ I’m talking wet panties & blushing cheeks kinda spice!👏🏼😂 If I didn’t have a thing for piercings I CERTAINLY do now!!🙌🏼 Renate has a way with writing that will have you so hooked from the first page. What I loved about this book is that it was unpredictable!! I feel like sometimes books can be repetitive with a predictable ending BUT this book left me stunned🙈 I was not expecting the twists and turns at the end and I love that! The plot delivered and more🫶🏼 I found this book so thrilling and captivating that I read it all in one sitting because it was just that good!👏🏼 And the ending🥹 - The ending healed me, I did not want this book to end it was🧑🏼🍳💋

Omg! This book had me glued from page one! The tension and mystery Emily “Em” was going through kept me hooked page after page. This was definitely not a slow burn, you’re thrown into spice almost instantly after she meets Ash. And then… he has a TWIN?! What?! And of course, they like sharing. 🔥
The MMC’s are completely unhinged⚠️, and that only made the story more addictive. The fear play and mask play were wild and gave the book such a dark, thrilling edge. The MFM scenes were intense 😮💨 and had me flipping the pages faster and faster.❤️🔥
Between Ash and Manson🖤, I have to say Mason ended up being my favorite twin. Even though he comes off as the meaner, rougher one, he’s actually pretty sweet and caring underneath it all. And he’s totally in love with Em. I’m really hoping the author will give us more of Mason’s backstory, because you can tell he’s carrying some heavy scars beneath that hard exterior.
The jealousy and fighting between the twins over Em was insane, and the tension between them was off the charts hot! This story leaned more toward a rival type trope than a full reverse harem trope, but that dynamic mixed with murder, mystery, and framing was absolute perfection.

First off, check triggers warnings. Now that we have that out the way….
This book is spicy in all the right places, with plot to match and the right amount of trauma thrown in there. I love when I don’t see a plot twist coming. I had the ending so wrong in my head and I loved that I was wrong.
If you like obsessed and unhinged MMCs then I highly recommend. This isn’t a why choose, it’s full of rivalry and competition. This was one of those books that kicked my insomnia up a notch or ten. Checking the time at 1am and still not even feeling tired because I just had to know what happens next. I ain’t even mad about it. I highly recommend if you want a fast paced spicy dark romance book and love trigger warnings.

A fantastic 5star read! Riveting, edge of your seat drama. Masked men, crazy, unhinged antics and lots of spice. What more do you need in a dark romance!
From the get go, I couldn't put this book down, Renate is a brilliant writer, I must admit to never reading anything by her before but boy I will be devouring her other books if this is the way she writes. She grabs your attention with Jaw dropping scenes, gasping at the audacity of the stalker behaviour but also loving every minute. MFM but not a why choose, which tbh was a lovely change as they seem to be everywhere. I wanted an obsessed deranged hero and this is what I got.
The ending was so good and totally not expected. Pick this book up you will not regret it, will be in my top ten reads of 2025.

MFM but not a why choose, which tbh was a lovely change as they seem to be everywhere. I wanted an obsessed deranged hero and this is what I got.
The ending was so good and totally not expected. Pick this book up you will not regret it, will be in my top ten reads of 2025.

This was my first time reading Renate Rowland, and wow! I’m officially a fan! I love me some unhinged, masked men, and this story delivered everything I wanted and more.
The FMC was so easy to connect with, and the characters overall were incredibly well written. The spice was off the charts, the plot was strong, and the twists kept me hooked from beginning to end. I especially loved how the story balanced danger, obsession, and heat
it pulled me right into the FMC’s position and made me feel every pulse,pounding moment.
Freaks of Nature is dark, twisted, thrilling, and addictive. If you’re looking for masked madness, rivals sharing, and unapologetic spice wrapped in a gripping storyline, this book is for you. I can’t wait to see what Renate Rowland writes next! She’s definitely earned a new fan in me!

I have no words to describe my feelings about this book, just wow... There were so many subtle clues that made me think I knew how this was going to turn out but then it had me second guessing myself, thinking I may have it all wrong, but (happily) I did work it out right. I just love him and the relationship he builds with Emily so much. This has a lot of spice and is also pretty dark, and I just love how well it is done while still being really plot focused. Mason and Ash both had a very rough childhood and they coped with it in very different ways and it was interesting to see this more and more as the story progressed. And it's clear they both had feelings for her, but the subtle differences in how they treated her showed their true feelings and reasons for wanting her.

Em is new to the city, living in a terrible apartment, and already has a stalker.
I read this book in one sitting and was absolutely hooked. It's spicy and filled with danger. I absolutely loved the story and especially the twists.
The ending was a fantastic surprise I was not quite prepared for.

The MMCs are deliciously ruthless and unhinged.
I loved the plot and where it took me emotionally. Check your triggers with this as some of the background is extremely disturbing. I feel as though it was a necessary evil (if you will) to understand the mindset of the MMCs.
I really enjoyed this fun ride and the ending is just *chef's kiss*

It had me intrigued and drawn in from the first page.. i love the characters and it kept me puzzling and wondering throughout the book at what was going on and even had me gasping and shocked at times when what I thought I knew wasn’t what was!
This book really makes you feel a lot of emotions and the author does a great job of bringing them out! There’s good spice throughout for the spice lovers as well as sweetness and moments you want to glare at the characters! It’s definitely on the darker and more unhinged side, which I love! And there is a strong plot throughout. It’s not a why choose but a rivalry and the MMCs are competitive with an interesting twist!
The author drops little moments in throughout the book that later make you think! There’s masks, motorbikes, chasing, broken lives and history all wrapped up and written well. This is an amazing book and hard to put down. Check your trigger warnings though.

Where do I even begin? This book is intense in every wonderful meaning of the word. Two predators and one prey is the perfect description for this novel. I enjoyed the pacing of this novel, especially because it grabbed me right at the end of the first page and I didn't put it down until I finished it. I greatly appreciated the why behind the main characters' behavior. I think Renate put just the right amount of this information in the book to help satisfy the curiosity of why Mace and Ash are the way they are. This book embodies stalker romance and I absolutely loved it. It checks every box for mask play, knife play, stalker, motorcycles, rivals sharing (NOT why choose), and MFM just to name a few. Oh! I was lucky enough to read an ARC of Freaks of Nature by Renate Rowland, and what a ride! From laughing on page one to gasping at the twists, this book hit every emotion—fear, excitement, shock, swoon, and plenty of spice. The last 15% had me literally ignoring my coffee (unheard of) because I couldn’t stop reading. Dark, wild, and addictive—masked strangers, motorcycle bad boys, and a delicious rivalry that kept me up way past bedtime. If you love heat, suspense, and a whole lot of WTF moments, this one’s for you.

when I started reading this book I didn't know what to expect! I got sucked into this book from the first page I read this book in couple of hours as I couldn't stop reading. I loved mason in this book and was rooting for him from the start! this book is dark stalker romance! the twist in this book I was not expecting it. I felt sorry for Mason and understood his reasons for been the way he is. I wished this book was longer for me I needed more. I loved how Emily was in the book with how he was with the brother. I'm happy with how it ended. but the twist I did not expect it to be like that I was shocked. but would recommend this book .can't wait to read more from this author

The twists and turns of this book......I am obsessed. Complicated feelings. Mason, Ash, and Emily's characters were perfection. The spice, storytelling, and the entire ride was top notch! This is a book that will grab your attention and pull you for the ride of your life. I do suggest really reading the trigger warnings before starting this amazing book.

Exhilarating.
The twists and turns. The spice. We don't wait long for this one to turn up the heat and we never stop.
Emily is just looking for some excitement leaving the small town life behind and boy does she find it. I love how Em broke out of her shell, but still didn't lose herself.
Ash. He is so easy to fall for, so charming.
Mason. He's the darker more haunted of the two MMCs, but the way he is with Emily it's easy to be swept away.

First off we have Emily who decides the small town sweethearts life isn't for her. She leaves her current relationship to chase a thrill of something new. Moving to a new town. A few weeks in she's chased home by a masked man. 🤭 that masked man turns out to be the best unhinged thing that ever happened to her 🥰

One is sweet but there's a twist you wouldn't guess. Then the unhinged psycho brother who want her all to himself 😮💨
The spice is spicy. The sweetness of these men with her is top tier.

Dude! This was such a good dark romance. The sexual tension between the 3 characters is very well seen and this was just awesome. Very spicy and adventurous too. This follows 2 twins and a woman named Emily. She has really dark desires and all she can think about is her “stalker” who is a masked man. This also gives a bit of background with Ash and Mason in the past and how they were growing up. Very great read and fast paced. It’s very cat and mouse and primal play etc. I loved it! I didn’t expect the ending either I was like woah… never saw it coming I kinda felt betrayed by that character haha.

So many twists and turns. I devoured this in one sitting. It was engaging and exhilarating. Two hot guys with piercings and motorcycles. The FMC decided to search for more thrill in her life and she found it. Stalking and masks. Dark and spicy. I would give all the stars if possible. I didn’t ever realize the climax until it happened. Well written. I will be reading this again and again. This book is literally fire. I loved every page.

I absolutely LOVED this book!! I devoured it in 24 hours! The concept was really unique in my opinion. The spice was amazing and the female lead is just the right amount of independent and submissive. The male characters have a very difficult and tragic upbringing that is quite heartbreaking. But in the end, I guarantee you will be able to smile. If a physically copy is ever available, I will be buying it.

Received this as an arc. And woooooow, this book drew me in right from the first page.
I thought - before we found out that Ash had a twin - that this would be a book with a similar trope as Pretty Monster or In the Shadow. But quickly found out that that wasn’t the case. This book kept me on my toes though!! That ending was a twist I wasn’t expecting, but I always knew I preferred Mason over Ash and I am so happy I batted for the right team ( which I’m sure the majority of us readers did 🤭).
This book was definitely spicier than I expected! Girl got double teamed but good for her 🙈.
I really hope there’s a novella or sequel to the book because I want Emily to find out what really happened to Mason and would love to see how Emily’s family would react to Mason when she takes him home to visit her folks!
