When a random doll shows up on our porch, I didn’t think much of it. I stashed him in my room and went on about my day. But then … strange things started to happen—things I hadn’t given a second thought to before. It only took me days to realize that the doll was possessed. He was creepy, hellbent on destroying my family, yet also seemed way too interested in me for my liking. I had to find out how to get him sent back to whatever plane of existence he came from before he killed us all.

Marcella and Fabian thought they’d gotten away with the unthinkable. Unfortunately for them, the Dollmaker doesn’t forget and neither do I. I’ll pick their entire family off one by one, starting with the wretched man of the house. But I’m going to have the most fun with Ember. I’ll play with her until I get bored, and then she’ll be gone too.

Firstly thank you for the opportunity to ARC this novella.
I won't lie, I was quite disappointed with this one. Especially compared to the others I have read. It didn't really give me the revenge that I was promised or that I felt was deserved.
Given the brutality that Savannah suffered and the mention of how revenge was going to be enacted, the fact that it didnt happen left me feeling kind of meh. And the ending just felt really rushed.
Unfortunately for me, it didn’t give me what I was expecting, the ending gave me dark romance vibes and not the graphic, gory horror that I got with the others. (sorry)

Ember, has a darkness to her that Alastair is drawn to but he has a job to do, I commend his dedication to Savannah in wanting to see it through. Will Ember realise the danger she’s in? Who will triumph in this vengeance?

This sequel plunges us back into the dark world established in "The Dollmaker," shifting the focus to the next generation. We are introduced to Ember, the teenage daughter of Marcella and Fabian. In stark contrast to her once popular, now toxic parents, Ember is an outsider: goth, bullied, and entirely unlike her lineage.
The story’s true horror, however, lies in the introduction of Alastair, one of Savannah’s "Dolls." His internal monologue is chillingly evil, setting the stage for a promised, brutal revenge:
"What better revenge was there than forcing the virginity out of Marcella and Fabian’s oldest daughter? They could watch helplessly as their daughter was assaulted against her will, just like Tripp was forced to do."
This is clearly not your average story about an enchanted doll; his intentions are deeply malicious and unsettling.
The Promise of Payback:
The plot kicks off with a disturbing parallel to the events of the first book, dragging Ember into a horrific situation she manages to escape… a clear nod to the trauma Savannah endured. My primary draw to this sequel was the promise of complete and uncompromising vengeance for Savannah and Tripp. They were victims who deserve justice, and I was fully invested in seeing their enemies suffer for what they did.
This is where the book lost me…
A Vengeance Unfulfilled?
The narrative’s trajectory changes significantly when Alastair goes against Savannah’s ultimate wishes. The entire premise of the story is built on a demon-doll executing a perfect, brutal revenge plan. So, why the sudden introduction of a "guilty" conscience?
A key moment highlights this shift:
"So … you’re not killing us?” He swiped his tongue over his teeth before glancing at the floor again. “I couldn’t complete my assignment. My boss will understand.”
This abrupt change, Alastair turning "soft" felt like a massive betrayal of the initial plot and Savannah's deeply held desire for retribution. It simply does not align with the dark, unforgiving tone of the first book or the established evil nature of the character. For a true revenge story, I wanted to see Savannah's wishes executed to the letter, regardless of the target.
While the introduction of Ember and the initial darkness were compelling, the ending left me deeply frustrated. I hope future books in the series stick to the original, ruthless vision and don't continue to backpedal on the consequences for the villains.
It was hard for me to rate this only because of his “guilty” conscience coming into play and giving Ember options.
3.5/5 ⭐️ for the strong beginning and dark themes, but deducted stars for the disappointing, contradictory shift away from the promised revenge. The writing itself was AMAZING and truly had me hooked!

Aliaster is ready to unleash hell over Fabian's family in the worst way possible (One of the assaulters of Savannah)
such a perfect plan right? Until he slowly gets obsessed with ember
I devoured this book! Book two absolutely
didnt dissapoint though i was hoping for the gore to be a lil more gorey other than that the spice, the horror erotica and plot absolutely slayed.
Totally worth a read!

I liked this book! It was morbid, had smut, and actually wasn't what I expected. I won't say to much as I know it's a short book and I don't want to ruin anything, but I didn't expect that ending. Honestly I kinda wonder now, what happens after that? Will the other books talk about it? Only time will tell! But man the way things are described, it makes you want to stop and take a breather!!! And the way the mom was after a certain part. I don't feel bad at all, like for real. The way she describes it made me so mad!!! Still such a good book!! Read trigger warning!

Annika did a a great job balancing the twisted attraction and spice between ember and alistair. What made my heart wrench is the love and willingness ember has to save her baby sister.
The end left a really huge cliffhanger that entices you to keep going.
These are NOT light and spooky reads. They are tiny packages of horrific and twisted demises.

I didn't love it and I didn't hate it it was just kind of middle of the road for me. I felt like Alistair could have been 10 times more vile and evil with his revenge on Amber's parents I feel like they got away too easy. The end ing was anticlimactic if you will The only thing that I'm happy about is baby Isabella was left unharmed.

Alistair is drawn to her, he sees her dark side and knows it matches his. He fulfills his duties the Dollmaker asks of him but gives Ember a choice at the end.

I’m loving the nightmare on lull lane series this is the second book in the series I’m loving the paranormal vibe in this one. I really enjoyed this one… did I enjoy it as much as the first one probably not but still really enjoyed it and it was well written.

Going into this series, I was expecting some shocking things, but this surpassed my expectations!
The authors have done so well to weave all the stories together (well so far, I’ve read 5/11 at the time if writing this review) and each story is so incredibly unique to the series.
This one follows the first family of 10 who receive a doll upon their child’s birth. 18 years later and things kick up a gear! Ember’s Doll, Alastair, is an unsettling presence only here to seek revenge for his maker.
Alistair is dark, only pursuing revenge with a chilling inner monologue that gives you the creeps!
The ending wasn’t what I was expecting but I still enjoyed this story. Will be looking out for future work from the author ☺️

Considering the mixed reviews i read about this book, I was still really excited going into this book, and finally seeing revenge and the promise that savannah would get justice for what happened to her.
The setup was great and had me intrigued right away.
That being said, this one didn’t hit as hard as I was hoping it would, considering the brutality that savannah experienced.
I was just expecting more...I wanted the revenge to be just as intense or even more intense, but I was underwhelmed by the time I reached the end.
I just felt the pacing was all over the place, there were some grammatical and spelling errors (which tends to annoy me especially if its more than one time) and toward the end I felt it was just a little bit rushed, kinda like the first novella doll maker, and i felt that it didnt really deliver on the more graphic, and gory horrors i am accustomed to reading.
But what really ticked me off the most about this book was that ending? What the hell was all that about?
I gave this an overall 3 🌟 rating because regardless of the plot and storyline, all the issues i had added up and I couldn't justify this as a 5 🌟 read.
Here's hoping there's some improvement in book 3

Alastair is our first doll and he is off to seek revenge on Marcella and Fabian, but along the way he became obsessed with their older daughter, Ember. This story of course was dark, disturbing, gory, full of revenge, dark secrets revealed, and justice was severed for Savannah. Ember shouldn’t want Alastair, the man who killed her parents, but she can’t deny the desire.

This was short dark twisted and hot at the same time! The ending had me begging for more and I’m absolutely obsessed over this story!
I loved every page of it and definitely recommend trying this series out if you love dark, horror, twisted needs and horrible secrets!

i absolutely LOVED this one!!
nightmares on lull lane book #2 did not disappoint! in every sense of the word,we got some incredible plot lines in this one,and more world building! & since this is only book 2 of an 11 book shared world i'm actually very very happy with the level of detail we are getting in each novella.. this is coming from somebody who is heavily into novellas and will choose them over novels any day. i even made notes during this one (they're very me PHAHAHA)
i loved alistair and ember's story and i'm actually very very happy with the ending and i'm actually so thrilled it wasn't the ending i was expecting (no spoilers.. read the book i never spoil) honestly seeing the little nods to savannah throughout really made me happy,she is a vindictive little bitch & i love that for her,she has a whole army of destruction and i can not wait to see it unfold.
honestly this story feels like a really good place to start the rest of the series,it feels perfect timing & the characters too? i didn't expect to see those guys!

characters??? 4.5⭐️ we followed fabian and ella's story whth this one,they little shits they are.. to be honest the revenge was sweet,but then also following alistair and ember (love that name by the way) really actually was a joy,ember is written so beautifully,and alistair.. i hope we see more of him,his character was just as strong! ember is developed beautifully through the story and even just by mid point in the story,she sort of comes into her own and it's beautiful to see her rage peek through! go ember! and alistair,the demon fellow... he's honestly great,he is also developed in a way that we can understand him but there is still more to figure out.. but i digress,in short i love the characters and fabian and ella got what they deserved :)
plot?? 4.5⭐️ the plot is placed really good i feel,it carries on great from the dollmaker but it also allows you too get a feel for the meaning and the plot line of the story on its own (without the dollmaker) & honestly it feels very cohesive and i always applaud authors for being able to carry on a plot line!! the story feels like it's paced really well,it gives essentially enough to go off of,but enough to continue on and understand the story as it's building.. go into these stories with the intention that the story with BUILD as it goes on.. it's a shared world,this book isn't a standalone,you won't get the entire story in just this book!!!
gore + spice? 🌶️🌶️🌶️ + 🩸🩸🩸 i'd say this one is an easier read for those that are not major fans of extreme gore,it has gore moments and they are yucky but not absolutely grotesque.. also when reading this bear in mind gore is subjective,i'm quite used to intense gore and it doesn't sorta gross me out much? spice though,didn't think i'd like ghost demon spice but it was actually written in such a way i had to question was it all real? like sleep paralysis too?? such a slay and annika writes such good spice that has some undertones of just being ICKY but still like you know?? she's not super spicy but has some great MF spice scenes and also has the gore encased in a story that is actually a delight to read!

Let me start by saying this is not a bad story, nor did I dislike it. I very much enjoyed book #2 in the NOLL series. It's just that the ending, and a couple other small things, left me a bit wanting and confused. But we'll get back to that, shortly.
I absolutely adore our first doll, Alastair. I love his inner dialogue, and his surprise at his own reaction to our FMC, Ember. That said, I do wish he'd been a bit more fleshed out. Where did he come from? What had he done in his former life to end up just a soul stuck in a doll, expected to do another's bidding? Was he there by choice, or is it a punishment? These are questions that I'm hoping get answered, later on in the series.
Ember was a surprise, because I didn't expect to like her as much as I did. I enjoyed her inner dialogue even more than I did Alastair's, and she is absolutely nothing like her parents, which was a pleasant surprise. She wasn't, and didn't try to be, perfect. She didn't bully others or think she was better than those around her. She was more like Savannah, and I even think Sav probably would have liked her, despite her parentage.
This quick read was good overall, despite my few complaints. I think it's definitely worth reading, especially if you wish to correctly follow the overarching storyline. I believe that if you enjoy...

This is the second book in the Nightmare on Lull Lane series and a great continuation to where The DOLLmaker left off. This story has emotional journeys for not only Ember but also for Alastair, who shows up in a box on their doorstep right when she needs him the most. I liked how much of a secret baddie Ember is, having come from such a bleak beginning from Savannah, this one knows how to take care of herself even when her world is crumbling from around her.
Ember is having a rough life. Her mother is exhausted taking care of the baby by herself. Her father is too busy screwing his secretary to care about his home life. Until a surprise package shows up spilling secrets they kept hidden from their high school years. See, they took part of the assault on Savannah and her step-brother Tripp all those years back and now something sinister has welcomed itself in their lives to ensure they get their ends as they deserved for what happened all those years ago.
Ember is a treat of a ‘final girl’ if you can say that. She’s protective of not only herself, but her baby sister as well. Knowing her parents are worthless, as her mother succumbs to the bottle after her husband’s been murdered adds a heavy toll to Embers already dreadful life. Even when she expresses to her mother about an incident that almost happened at the party she was hesitant to go to, her mother puts the blame on her. It was pleasing to watch both of her parents go through such torment before graphically killed. A sickening revenge that was definitely deserved.
I was drawn heavily into the story because besides living on the same street as the creepy house that still homes the ‘witchy’ Savannah, I wanted to know how she was going to be connected to the horrid scene that took place years prior. The untold chemistry between Ember and Alastair was intriguing and I almost thought she was going to go through with following him at the end. With his bright blue eyes and all. Overall, I am pleased with the direction of the series and look forward to the next part. Nofal put heart and misery on the line with Hush Little Martyr, along with a creatively creepy lullaby.

This book grabs your attention immediately and refuses to let go. The introduction of Allistar in his black leather jacket sets the tone right away—dark, dangerous, and undeniably compelling. From the start, it’s clear this story isn’t here to play it safe.
Ember is one of the most striking characters in the book. She strongly mirrors Savannah in so many ways: never quite fitting in, growing up with parents more focused on fighting each other than caring for their daughter, and struggling to find her place at school.
That shared emotional neglect gives her depth and makes her evolution feel raw and real. Watching Ember rise out of that pain is incredibly satisfying, especially when she proves just how fearless she is by standing up to the football team with nothing but a knife and her nerve.
The darkness in this story is unapologetic and intentional. The antagonists are genuinely monstrous, making the revenge elements feel deserved rather than gratuitous. Fabian, in particular, earns every consequence that comes his way for what he did to Savannah years ago. The story doesn’t soften its edges, and that refusal to hold back is part of what makes it so powerful.
The threats and violent moments are chilling, almost poetic in their cruelty, giving the book a twisted nursery-rhyme vibe that’s both disturbing and memorable. There’s an unhinged energy running through the story that feels like Chucky—only darker, more seductive, and far more intense.

disclaimer. this book was sent to me at no cost to me as an advanced reader copy in exchange for an honest review. however this review is still my genuine honest thoughts.
Eh. this one wasn't my favorite. I struggled to get through it. I didn't hate it by any means, the story was still solid and engaging, I just felt like I was wanting...more? I guess? other than the 2 main characters, it felt as though the characters were lacking dimension/depth. I will say the ending definitely surprised me tho! I was expecting quite the opposite of what went down (no spoilers here bb ❤️). Speaking of character depth, Alistair was an absolute delight! he was sarcastic, devious, and evil through and through but still had a sense of morality. it was fascinating watching how his mind worked in some chapters. Ember also had a lot of depth to her and was also enjoyable to observe. she has a lot of emotional trauma and distress to her and is honestly very relatable to those of us who have been where she is. the forgotten child in the shadow of their sibling. left to their own devices and almost resented for it for some reason. Her parents, oh boy. don't get me started. let's just say they both got what they deserved. in terms of the Splatterpunk aspect, that's where I was hoping for more. when I go into a novella in the Splatterpunk category I expect to be disgusted or sometimes even overwhelmed by the violence. I felt like the violence could have been better when it came to one of the parents. all in all I would still read this again but I definitely was left intrigued but underwhelmed.

Okay, if Dollmaker got you all curious, then this book will completely consume you, body, soul, and sanity included.
We finally meet the first doll, Alistair, and oh my gods… I am speechless. This man is not kind, not gentle, and definitely not a hero. He is dark, unhinged, and terrifyingly magnetic, the kind of villain you know you shouldn’t root for, but somehow, you do. Every word, every scene he’s in just pulls you deeper into the madness, and you start to question your own morals right alongside him.
The FMC is everything I adore in a dark story, strong, fierce, beautifully broken, and deliciously morbid. She’s not your damsel; she’s your storm. You feel her rage, her hurt, and her hunger for justice. And honestly, her parents? If there was ever a pair that deserved everything that came their way, it’s them. Especially the mother, vile doesn’t even begin to describe that woman. Watching karma finally catch up was deeply satisfying.
And Savannah… I am rooting for her revenge arc. I can feel it building, twisting, waiting for the perfect moment to strike, and when it does, I just know it’s going to be spectacular.
The story ends on a cliffhanger that had me clutching my Kindle, whispering “no no no” into the void, but it’s that kind of delicious cliffhanger that leaves you starving for the next page, the next secret, the next scream.
This series is twisted, beautiful, and wickedly addictive, a dark descent I am more than happy to take.
If you haven’t started it yet, do yourself a favor: dive in.

What Ember doesn’t realize is that the doll is possessed — by the vengeful spirit of Tripp, Savannah’s lover from The Dollmaker, still carrying out retribution against the descendants of those who wronged her.

Hush Little Martyr, Don’t You Scream is book two of the Nightmares of Lull Lane, written by Annika Nofal. There are 11 books in this series; aside from the first and last books, they can be read in any order. They are standalones, but they do refer back to a central plot established in book one. All the books in the series are horror, and some may edge toward splatterpunk. All of the books are considered novellas. I love this concept a lot and look forward to reading the entire series!
