I have to say that I was a bit intimidated by the average rating this book has on GR, but I thought I'd give it a try for several reasons:
- I generally really enjoy audible original stories that are created specifically for audio format. They consist only/mostly of dialogues with sound effects
- the story is fairly short and it's free with audible subscription
- the male character is narrated by Andrew Eiden, aka Teddy Hamilton.

Let's start with the narrators. They are excellent! I could really feel the chemistry between the characters. And Andrew's voice in this one? When he is on the phone, or when Dani and Ash talk in person, or when his voice drops when they stand close – I was melting. 😅 At this point, he can read a shopping list to me in that tone. 😅

I liked the story itself, too. Back in high school Asher "stole" the class presidency from Danielle, and she never forgave him for it. Now, ten years later, they reunite to plan their high school reunion. There are some activities being planned, but I mainly enjoyed this story for their conversations, the banter, the flirting, secret crushes and second chances. I thought they were adorable.

It's very rare that I enjoy a book more than the majority of GR readers, but it happens. 😅 I'm really glad I gave it a chance. It was exactly what I needed.

Listened on Audible. I wonder if a written version would have made the story palatable. I liked the concept, but the execution read millennial-cringe-meets-AI-regurgitation.

THIS is the fast-fashion of reading. No development, no true lesson, nothing profound. I can stomach a poorly-written book if it at least has some meaning; I can give grace to trash romance if it is at least creative- this was neither.

3.5✨

3 stars is a bit generous for the lack of plot and the lack of substantial back stories, but for a short palate cleanser, it did its job nicely. I needed something lighthearted and distracting during a particularly stressful period, and this helped.

Cute.
Another lighthearted audible original by Maverick with fun romcom narration .
Not much to it. The former High School class president and vice president have to reconnect to plan their 10 year reunion. They wound up not liking each other in high school because he won president over her. (Really?) But as they talk, of course they realize they actually like each other and everything is tied up with a neat little bow.
Just a fun easy listen.

So this is another of those dialogue only audiobooks. So far I’m 2 for 3. Which I guess isn’t a terrible average. But where to put this one… 🤔

It’s not really in either column, so I guess the record stands. Here’s the thing, it was really a story about two people who, after some bad blood in high school, reconnect as former class president and vp to organize the ten year reunion.

There’s a lot of dancing around the elephant in the room. A lot of running around NYC. A lot of not really getting to the heart of things.

Normally I love Liz Maverick’s novellas. She’s a queen of the short story. This just didn’t do it for me as it lacked heart.

Thank god for the amazing narration otherwise it might have been a two star read.

"Long-time rivals get a second chance at love in this sparkling, laugh-out-loud scripted rom-com!"

2.5 hours of absolute delight.

A rom-com for in between other activities, or after a tough read that's too heavy to tackle anything challenging afterward.

This audiobook is two hours of laughter, grins, and swooning.
I love this sweet and swoony short story.

The narrators are incredibly good.
They give you 100% chemistry, and the story's execution is phenomenal.
You believe every word they say.

Bravo! 👏🏻 Amazing audiobook.

I've found a new author for amazing rom-coms 💃 🤩

Four stars because of the audiobook. It was really simply written and was pure fluff, but was a fun time. Despite all that, I felt the chemistry between the two main characters. It was a good palate cleanser between reads.

I was looking for a short audiobook to get another book read for January, and I'm glad I picked this one! The format of it being like a fly on the wall listening to their conversations as the story was interesting and unique. The ending was expected but still cute and happened in a way that made it special. This frenemies to lovers audiobook is a cute must "listen to", especially if you're just looking for something quick!

Okay, this was so cute! It was very fun and unserious and just a good time. I’m not really a novella person, so I was a little worried going into this short 2 hour audiobook. But it was good! The characters had solid backstory and their reuniting felt fairly realistic. I was giggling all the way through.

So cute and fun! Loved it.
