Maisie spends her days wiping spills from diner tables, her head bent low to avoid the penetrating gazes of the alphas who drift through the door. Her bruises have almost faded, and life is looking brighter.
Across the street, construction is nearing its end, and with it, the routine visits from the workers who have made a habit of stopping by for a slice of her homemade pie. Maisie isn't sure if that's a good thing or not. She thinks she’ll miss them, but she knows better than to put her trust in any man. Not again.
Wyatt, Elias, Knox, and Hunter have been quietly watching over the skittish omega for longer than she knows, ready to act if the man responsible for her fading bruises ever shows up. They want her. They've always wanted her, and will do bad things to anyone who dares lay a hand on her.
When her past unexpectedly resurfaces in the form of her abusive ex-husband, four rugged alphas protect her. They claim her, publicly and unequivocally, as their omega. Then they take her to their rural farmhouse to escape her stubborn ex.
Four men. One promise. She will never be afraid again.
- Why choose - Wounded bird - Hurt/comfort - MFMMM (no MM, all about her) - Protective heroes - Sweet & steamy stalker romance
Knot in Doubt was definitely a Cute small town omegaverse! I found it scrolling through Amazon at books I wanted to read. I completely devoured this book in a day. I love Masie so much, her character was written so well. The pack was definitely perfect for her and I fell in love with this book reading about them falling in love with her. I think overall it’s a great read and I will gladly read it again. I’m glad the Ex husband has been taken care of and out of the picture. I do wish we could have read about Masie seeing her sister again and meeting the packs families and their beach trip.

I normally love this author, but this book felt like it was both too slow and too fast all at once. Lots and lots of build up and tension, FMC is wary and mistrustful (understandably so) only to have her instantly accept and get physical with the MMCs. It was almost two different stories at various points. I had a lot of high hopes because of how much I liked Nicole's previous works (Their Precious Omega series is fantastic with heavy amounts of plot + spice), but this one didn't do it for me.
I really enjoyed this book! Full of sweet, caring alphas as they look out and claim their omega. No scent matching, just a love story with alphas and omegas. Honestly, at one point I had to double check the title cuz nothing about it screamed omegaverse to me at first. There wasn't a heavy emphasis on that and it just was part of the story. Like a sprinkle of sugar on top of a pie. There was a lot of focus on the emotional relationships and building trust.
An omega on the run from her ex husband who used to repeatedly brutalize her finds a small town in Iowa giving her the welcome home she so desperately needed. Working as a waitress as well as pie making in a diner. This pack of construction workers fall for her as does the town, purple and black bruises and all. It takes a bit but slowly she comes out of her shell. When her evil ex try’s to off her she moves in with the pack of Alphas. They were absolutely adorable for her. Strong yet gentle. Good book.
An omega running from an abusive ex-husband…four alphas who are instantly protective of her, JUST from watching her work in the diner…*swoon*
Actually, what made this book unique was the fact that even though this is omegaverse, it isn’t overly focused on until the end. It’s more about the storyline, the relationships and Maisie working through her trauma and moving forward. It was good!
This cover and title is incorrect. The Amazon link for this book takes you to Knot in Doubt by the same author. That is the book I read. Both Promises and Knot in Doubt have the same blurb. The author needs to update this page.
This was a quick read. I liked that there was an underlying story going on with her exhusband. It helped with the character development. The spice was great. 🌶️🌶️🌶️
