~200 pages of bickering and whining wrapped up with ~100 pages of excessive action
This book falls into the category where I would never recommend it but I also wouldn't talk you out of reading it. The FMC is generally fine - capable and self reliant. She does have a thread of idiotic impulsiveness though, and a tendency to talk when she should just take action. The MMC is decent - loyal, selfless and caring despite the literal curse he lives with. The base story is decent but it goes to the excessive side of fantasy very suddenly. Unfortunately, you couldn't fill a puddle with all the details this book lacks, despite it being over 300 pages long.
The author has very little world building (we know there's a wolf council that can intercede but very little beyond that), very little character building in the appropriate place (we get a ton of background about estel after the antagonist is resolved), and very little real relationship building between Rayne and Lucas.
Add to that an obnoxious tendency to ignore obvious logic gaps ("I can't wait to find my mate from amongst my pack so I can leave my pack!" or "he led the way, steps quick and purposeful while I followed slow and hesitant" ), and forget her own details ("we must keep this power quiet" *5 hours later* "so I did my super secret trick in a giant crowd of enemies") and my patience was tested and my attention wandered.
Last but solidly irking me - why does the book title not match the actual story? She is rejected but never crowned queen. He is an alpha (to be) but there isn't any indication of him being a billionaire. It just becomes overwhelmingly clear that the author was trying to crowbar into specific genres and tropes without really paying attention to writing them well, or at all. The title is false advertising. The book isn't very good. It's just all frustrating.
So…this one was okay, but I do think it went to OTT with some things. (Possible spoilers ahead )
First, the book cover. 😂😂 The big body with the tiny head.
I did like both MCs in this book.
At 16, h did not get her wolf. Everybody treated her like trash after that. Her BFF/cousin, Tiffany, and her boyfriend, Dante, also turned on her. The alpha did a command on her, so she was never able to fight back when she was bullied. Now she just turned 18 and she went the mate’s party. Dante and h are mates. He rejects her, then marks her ex BFF Tiffany
h decides to leave and the guards try to stop her. All of a sudden, she turns into the white wolf. White wolves are powerful. Man, Dante tried to backtrack so hard. 😂 Now he wants her. Now the pack needs her. Thankfully, h is like “fk off” and she leaves.
She arrives at the new pack. She wants to keep her wolf a secret. Except that doesn’t last long because some rogues attack. While all this is happening, Luca (H) arrives. He is the alpha’s son who has been exiled for a year. He has a blood curse. Basically, every full moon he turns into a bloodlust monster. The previous year, he killed his BFF and some other pack members.
H and h have an instant connection. Naturally, H tries to avoid h because of his curse. h starts to dig into the curse and finds out his curse is connected to the white wolf. 🤪
Even though he tries to avoid her, they still end up having smex. She does tell H to mark her the first time they are together. They both mark each other and admit they love each other.
Now, this is where I started to get annoyed with the book (and the main reason I rated it so low) We end up getting POV chapters from other characters. Ugh We get a Dante chapter. His ego is massive. Seriously, he’s annoyed h won’t come back to him. He’s mad because he’s been sending her gifts and letters and she won’t reply. 😂😂 He’s angry because everybody in his pack is mad at him for not having h EVEN though they are the ones who encouraged him to end it with her and take another mate.
Then we get a chapter from the villain. The villain is Dante’s beta- who also happens to be Tiffany’s dad and h’s uncle. He’s been manipulating every thing.
And we get a new character, who happens to be a “dark force” that the villain has been working with.
The book started to get into the supernatural stuff and the back history, but there are plot holes. The villains get the wolf counsel involved and try to force h to return to Dante. It’s just a big mess because you still have H thinking he’s not good enough for h and that he may hurt her. There are a bunch of people trying to break up H and h.
So you have the final showdown and I was glad that Dante tried to redeem himself. H is killed???? h has to take on the darkness and the villain uncle. h is wounded and goes to the “in-between” where she talks with the Goddess.
The Goddess sends h back. h is crying over H’s body and it’s so sad. BOOM! His body fills with light, then he pukes up a bunch of black stuff. He is fine and has been cured of the darkness.
The epilogue is months later and it’s the wedding day. h is pregnant and her water breaks during their vows (so not sure if they’re married) She has a boy and they name him Brian (Brian was H’s BFF. That’s the one he killed when he turned into the monster)

************************************************************************* Summary: The FMC had a really great life until she didn't shift at the appropriate age. She lost everything the respect of the pack as the Beta's daughter, her boyfriend left her for her cousin, her parents and siblings ignored her. She was praying that when she met her mate on her 18th birthday life would change---it didn't. Her mate turned out to be her ex-boyfriend the future Alpha of the pack. He publicly rejects her and marks her cousin. She decides to leave the pack. Upon making it to the border she experiences her shift for the first time in front of the entire pack. Since she is a powerful and rare--the pack now wants her--she rejects them all and leaves.
The FMC goes to a neighboring pack where she meets the MMC. He is the future Alpha, however, when he shifts it is into a cursed "monster". What happens when a cursed future Alpha and a rare white wolf fall in love---read this story to find out. HEA
Review: I have read this trope repeatedly. I have read the cursed wolf, white wolf previously as well. While this book did hold my attention there were moments where I thought it was too easy a read. I mean it read like I was a middle schooler to me at times. This is the first time I have read anything by this author so this just may be her writing style.
There were a few twists and turns in the book that were surprising---but not. All in all it was an average read. I recommend it to those who don't want a book with a lot of depth but want a pleasant book to read on a cool sunny day with a nice beverage.

Rayne is about to turn 18 and prays her wolf finally appears. At 16, her wolf did not come, so they dubbed her wolfless. They treated her horribly, even her parents. Her father is Beta of the Shadow Moon pack and has taught her all her fighting skills. The Alpha of the pack commanded her not to attack anyone, even if they attack her. Her life is miserable! Once she turns 18 and attends the pack meet up, it turns out the Alpha’s son, Dante, is her fated; he rejects her outright and marks another Luna in front of her.
As she denounces the pack, she packs her things to leave. On the outskirts of the packlands, she is met with the resistance of enforcers not allowing her to leave. Suddenly, her wish comes true in an unexpected way…she is a white wolf. A legendary species that has powers and is considered royalty. Favored by the Moon Goddess. Dante and the others see this, now he wants her to stay, become his mate, and live a life with him. Too late!
She travels to a pack known for their tolerances of those different. The Crimson Moon pack will accept her for who she is and show her great kindness and respect. Alpha Kieran has a son, Luca, who had been exiled for one year since a bloodline curse affected him and horrible things occurred. He comes back to the pack one year later, albeit the pack being afraid. He meets Rayne and knows she is his but refuses to anchor her to his monster. Their chemistry is off the charts!
A local prophecy and curse to do with the legend of white wolves and the bloodline curse will make itself known to Luca and Rayne. They will have no other choice but to become one…it is fated! Meanwhile, Dante refuses to let go of her. He is crazed with getting her back and acts upon it. Rogues are attacking from all points. Another has a morbid plan for Rayne, one that grants him power enough to rule all.
With the world at stake, all the lives will fall into the hands of Rayne and Luca. They will have to discover ways to defeat the massive ancient evil about to make an appearance, those who support it, and the pack she left behind. It seems like a daunting task. Rayne will have to dig deep, practice hard, and figure out how to win…only, she cannot do it without her monster mate. Can they survive the outcome?
This story begins Rayne on her eighteenth birthday being…betrayed by her family, pack and the wolf she thought was her mate, Dante. It was very dramatic and eventually brought out her courage to leave the Shadow Moon Pack. Rayne gets to the Crimson Moon Pack and is taken in. It’s here that she meets Luca, the alpha’s son – and the man who is carrying a curse.
I received an arc from Booksprout and was excited since I hadn’t read anything from author Krista Lark before. I started to read and stopped because the story didn’t make sense. I decided to wait until the book was released hoping it would be offered as Kindle Unlimited, and it was! The problem was that the confusing part was also in the KU book. 😖
Sadly, I expect stories to be at least somewhat linear in the telling, you know, with events in chronological order. I’m fine with flashbacks, but that isn’t what happened in this section. One section didn’t make sense to me and threw me out of the book. 😵I eventually got passed this to read the rest of the story and I’m glad I did. Unfortunately, I thought some of the characters were stereotypical werewolf characters, and I found myself guessing correctly in advance as to who and what would happen. In the end, I was at the edge of my seat, anxious to see what would happen next. I have to say that I have never read a book and thought, I bet this was written with AI.

This is a wild, entertaining, and romantic story featuring a young woman named Rayne. She is in a pack that treats her horribly because she has not been able to bring forth her wolf. Rayne had hoped that things would get better when she turned eighteen years old and was excited about discovering her mate. Believe it or not, that Alpha Dante rejects her in front of their pack. It was awful but as Rayne left that pack, she made the long journey to a new pack that treats all its members respectfully, wolf or no wolf. There Rayne finds a new purpose, but there are lots of things in the way to happiness. It is a good storyline and full story with a happy ending. Read on!
-An elaborate story of danger and a strong love story underneath. I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily sharing my honest thoughts.
Rayne rises from betrayal to power in this fierce, fated-mates shifter romance. Cursed alphas, ancient scrolls, and deadly secrets keep the tension high.
Luca and Rayne’s bond sizzles with heat, heart, and hard choices. A dark, thrilling journey of survival, revenge, and becoming unstoppable.

I've read several of this author's books and this one was definitely on par. It had plenty of ups and downs in the storyline to keep the book interesting and I found the characters' roles quite familiar and comforting. Writing and pacing was good and with great spice. Overall a good read.

This story was emotional for me. The roller-coaster ride of pain, tears, hope, strength, romance, belief, and death had me spiraling. A story worth reading.

Very well written book and I enjoyed reading it. Bringing the whole fated mate picture into a different perspective. I loved both the main characters, and the supporting characters were wonderful as well.
I love Luca and Rayne together, they were made for each other! Such a powerful and beautiful healing love story! Soo soo good and soo soo H.O.T I absolutly loved it! 😍❤️🔥❤️🥰
Feels it's written by a young teenager. the structure of the sentences it's just off. The way the character thinks and speaks just does not flow for me.
About a wolfless wolf, her mate rejects her and marks her ex best friend as his mate in front of the whole pack. She leaves and the ex mate sees she's a white wolf, tries to stop her from leaving. She finds the Crimson Pack and the son who was exiled returns
