June Kaye is the pen name of Brazilian friends and work colleagues Ilana K. and Alessandra K.
Ilana—a recovering lawyer—and Alessandra—a former Biology teacher—bonded over their love for literature and started as critique partners in completely different genres. A joke sparked the idea that eventually became 37 QUESTIONS, so they joined forces to write self-indulgent love stories and haven't looked back. Thus, June Kaye was brought to life. Due to their line of work, both lead a somewhat nomadic life, dragging husbands, kids, and pets from country to country across the world.
Ilana and Alessandra celebrate their birthdays eleven days apart—in June, of course.
37 Questions by June Kaye is a delightful, heartfelt rom-com that effortlessly blends humor, romance, and emotional depth. Nora is a woman trying to juggle the demands of her corporate job, a complicated personal life, and the aftermath of a regrettable hookup with a colleague who turns out to be taken. As if that weren't enough, a tornado warning forces Nora to hunker down alone with some wine and a book—until a handsome British man unexpectedly shows up at her door, needing shelter.
Aiden is trying to keep a low profile. After achieving celebrity status from starring in a string of successful films, he’s weary of being recognized everywhere he goes. When Nora doesn’t recognize him, he’s secretly relieved. He’s able to escape the pressures of his fame, at least for a little while, and enjoy the rare opportunity to be treated like a normal person. What begins as an awkward, practical arrangement to wait out the storm turns into an evening full of genuine connection. Nora and Aiden, bored and looking for something to pass the time, start answering questions from a silly magazine quiz. But what starts as light banter quickly deepens into a series of meaningful, vulnerable conversations, and before long, they’re sharing their hopes, dreams, and fears.
The chemistry between Nora and Aiden is irresistible, and June Kaye does a fantastic job of letting their connection unfold naturally. The balance between humor and vulnerability makes their growing relationship feel both fresh and real. Nora, who’s trying to figure out where her career is taking her while processing her past mistakes, is an instantly relatable character. And Aiden, with his struggles to balance his fame with his true self, is both charming and complex. Watching them open up to each other as they spend more time together is a joy, and the emotional stakes rise as the storm clears and Nora’s world is turned upside down by the truth about who Aiden really is.
37 Questions is a perfect read for fans of witty, character-driven romances. June Kaye brings the best of both worlds—fun and heart—into a story that is as thoughtful as it is entertaining. This book is a reminder that sometimes the best connections happen when you least expect them, and it’s the quiet, honest moments that truly change everything. With its combination of humor, vulnerability, and heart, 37 Questions is a charming, feel-good story that will leave you with a smile on your face and warmth in your heart. If you’re looking for a romance that’s as genuine as it is funny, this one is not to be missed.
Thank you NetGalley, 8th Note Press and June Kaye for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
3.5⭐️
37 questions is the situation every teenager thinks they’ll find themselves in - forced to care for a handsome stranger overnight during a storm and answering 36 questions from a magazine that promises you’ll fall in love. Then to find out the handsome stranger is actually a famous actor - many may love this, Nora - not so much.
The piece I didn’t love was how fast feelings were felt. Lust - sure, deep connection with all they were staring - absolutely, but actually thinking you’re falling in love halfway through the questions and night is a little too fast for me.
I enjoyed reading their internal monologue and actual answers when completing the questions. I couldn’t help but feeling like my answers would have been extremely boring and would not cause anyone to fall in love with me 🤣
The miscommunication/misunderstanding trope is not my favorite. I didn’t enjoy how that blew up but liked how Nora’s friends pushed her to recognize her mistakes. This part after the conflict dragged on although it was all over a short time period.
Overall, I enjoyed the story but felt the characters could have been developed a bit more to help connect with and show their relationship.
Tropes: Celebrity/normal person Forced proximity Slow burn Instalove Miscommunication
3.75 stars for this fun mingling of Hollywood romance and New York Times questionnaires!
A fateful tornado warning, a serendipitous falling injury, and some old magazines bring together famous actor Aiden and normal working gal Nora. The two spend a long evening hiding out together and going through the NYT 36 questions to make you fall in love…do feelings truly develop? That’s for you to find out when you read this thoughtful book!
The best parts of the book were honestly when the two were reflecting and honestly answering the questions. It was the first opportunity either of them had to really do that introspection and find a chance to be vulnerable, and it was enthralling to read! The only disappointing part of the book was how quickly that all wrapped up and we had to deal with the separation, but at least we had the dual POV to see both sides of how they handled being apart post-revelations!
What a fantastic debut! Thank you so much to June Kaye and NetGalley for a chance to read this in exchange for an honest review!
This was a good read with so many good messages in it. Loces that there wasn't really any spice. I like spice but there's a time and place for it and this book wasn't it. Written in 3rd person this book follows Nora and Aiden who are stuck in a storm/tornado and to pass the time they are doing a questionnaire from a magazine. It starts light-hearted but quickly dives into deep and personal questions. The point of the questionnaire is to get the participants to fall in love with each other and boy does it work. But Nora quickly finds out that not everything she knows about Aiden is the truth. Honestly, I loved how real this book was. I got annoyed with Nora partway through but her response was reasonable and real. I could see something like this happening in real life. The little messages were my favorite bits. This book kinda made you question some things about life and how you would respond to it.I loved how it was done.
Thank you Netgalley and June Kaye for the opportunity to read this book early.
37 Questions is an absolute delight: warm, witty, and heartfelt. What makes it shine is the way the dual narration brings Nora and Aiden’s distinct personalities into sharp relief. Nora’s practical voice brims with self-deprecating humor and relatable weariness from the grind of corporate life. Aiden, in contrast, radiates charm tinged with vulnerability. Their alternating chapters not only let us see the same moments through different emotional lenses but also make their growing connection feel genuine and alive.
Equally impressive is how the authors lean into time-honored romantic tropes (forced proximity, secret celebrity, the storm that traps two strangers together, etc.), but usethem with such deftness that they feel both comforting and brand new. The titular “37 Questions” serve as the perfect narrative engine: a playful setup that gradually strips away defenses and invites intimacy, giving the story a natural slow burn. The balance of humor and vulnerability, of familiarity and surprise, left me rooting for these two throughout the book. Definitely recommend!
37 Questions surprised me in the best way. It’s quiet, intimate, and emotionally honest in a way that completely caught me off guard. The story unfolds as two strangers get to know each other through a simple magazine quiz. What starts off light suddenly becomes a gateway to something deeper: reflection, connection, and the kind of vulnerability most of us tend to avoid.
What I appreciated most is that this book is really about being seen. About listening. About being honest. The characters felt real, the pacing was just right, and the emotional depth snuck up on me more than once.
If you enjoy character-driven stories that take their time and actually say something meaningful, this one’s worth picking up. It made me slow down and think. Not just about the characters, but about how I’d answer those questions too.
37 Questions by June Kaye, is an adorable rom-com. I loved the characters Nora and Aiden. Their chemistry and banter, so good. The way they went about the characters getting to know each other via a questionnaire was a really good direction, what better way for two people stuck inside during a storm to break the ice, move past shyness and get to know each other, a way to ask deep tough questions. Perfection!
The story was overall a really enjoyable read, an excellent debut novel and look forward to future books from Ilana & Alessandra (June Kaye)
✨ Disclaimer ✨ I received a free copy of this book via NetGalley and this is my honest review. Thank you to NetGalley & 8th Note Press for the chance to read and review this book.
firstly, I loved the concept of "36 questions to fall in love" in this book along with forced proximity which was chef's kiss and before knowing I was in love with the characters even though the story was quite predictable but nonetheless, it was a fun read definitely.
My favorite part of the book was when both Aiden and Nora were answering the questions and knowing each other from the questionnaire when they struck together because of tornado and the author June Kaye did fantastic job in maintaining a perfect balance between humor and vulnerability.
The only thing I didn't like about the book was the ending, it was satisfactory and amazing, but the story got wrapped up too swiftly. I would love to know their story more from both sides.
Easy 5 stars! And I’m not even into romance. I’m more of a science fiction guy but gave the book a try. They got me hooked! Ilana and Alessandra did a great job getting you emotionally attached to the characters.
I’ve been involved in the book from start to finish. From inception, to IT consulting, through ups and downs and celebrating each step!
And when I mean inception, I mean INCEPTION. I was there when the concept of this book was conceived. My sister (Ilana), her husband and I had to take shelter from a hurricane inside one of Nashville’s many bars in Broadway. Kinda like Nora and Aiden!
What a delight! I always wondered if those questions worked, and it's so fun to read about two random strangers testing it out and actually falling in love. I loved this book from the beginning until the very end. And while I think that the first part of the book is much stronger than the ending, I enjoyed it nonetheless, and had a smile on my face for 70% of the book. '37 Questions' is witty, sweet and absolutely charming.
3.75 stars from me.
Thank you NetGalley and 8th Note Press for this ARC.
A hug in the form of a book. It is such a heartwarming read, with well-written and relatable characters. I like how the plot takes its time to develop and gives us the chance to feel closer to Nora and Aiden and understand why they act the way they do, even when we don't agree with their decisions (looking at you, Nora!). If slow-burn romance and loads of dialogue are your thing, this book is for you 😊
This did not do it for me. I almost DNF because the pacing was slow and I couldn't connect to the characters. It is also the slowest burn ever and is never really satisfied. Tbh the part I enjoyed the most were the scenes with Nora at work with her colleagues... and it was such a glossed over plot. I think this fell flat because we didn't get to know the characters before they started opening up their deepest and darkest secrets to each other, so it was hard to really care about them.
I loved the meet-cute of this duo of distinct personalities. 37 questions to fall in love, was a brilliant idea for us to get to know these characters with themselves. The excess dialogue leaves it a little superficial. But the tone of the writing is light and fun, perfect for a day's reading. To me is a 3.5⭐️
Received this as an ARC from netgalley in exchange for an honest review!
This was such a cute story between Nora and Aiden. The story is centered around two strangers meeting by chance and having to take shelter during a tornado warning. Aiden just happens to be a famous actor, but Nora has no idea who he is. What follows is their journey getting to know each other while taking shelter, using a questionnaire from a magazine. These questions are supposed to make you fall in love with your partner who’s answering with you.
Aiden may be an actor, but he’s down to earth and shy, so he relishes the idea that Nora might get to know him as a person instead of his famous persona. Nora, however, has trust issues stemming from some childhood trauma. Their growth as characters allowed us as readers to really get to know them, while they also got to know each other.
This cute love story features a dual POV and almost insta-love. But the authors do a great job of making it feel authentic. Highly recommend this book.
Hello, world. Meet my new book boyfriend, Aiden Elliott. He's British, and charming, and a little shy. He stumbles upon words and has a quirky sense of humor. He's also tall, has green eyes, and a stubborn strand of hair that keeps getting into his face.
I won't say more, because I want him just for me. Back out, b******!
I loved this book - the cozy vibes, the banter, the chemistry, the fact that it's not all smut and no romance - and I'll eat up whatever the author puts out next.
I've already pitched it to my bookclubs and if you're my friend, get ready to hear about it.
I read it this summer, but I think it's the perfect book for Fall, so I can't wait to read it again. And again. I loved the TS references! I'll keep my eyes peeled next round to check if I catch some more.
Rating: 5/5 Spice level: 1/5 Content warnings: mentions of domestic abuse, pregnancy loss, estranged parental relationship Tropes: forced proximity, secret celebrity, only one night
This book was overall a 3 star read for me. I loved the forced proximity and also the use of the 37 questions - I liked filling in the magazine quizzes when I was younger so I thought this was a very fun idea.
I liked Aiden and Nora individually but I didn’t think they suited one another very well as a couple. Aiden is very reserved, polite, and stumbles over his words around her but I felt like this was overdone slightly and we were reminded of this too often. I understood he was overly polite and nervous without having to be told as often as I was.
I’m not usually a fan of third person novels and think I would have preferred it in first person but once I had gotten used to it I didn’t find it jarring or distracting to read.
I’d be interested to see what this author does next!
4.25⭐️s This was very cute for a insta-attraction romance. The 37 questions was probably my favorite part. If you can go through those kinds of questions with a handsome stranger and still be interested, there is definitely a story worth reading to me. Meet cute, miscommunication, multi-cultural characters, forced proximity, and slow burn.
Nora and Aiden are complete strangers. And yet, they are hunkered down in Nora’s home during a tornado. As they wait for the storm to pass, they end up answering the 37 questions for your partner in a magazine. They learn so much about each other over the course of the storm. Instead of potentially ruining the attraction they feel, it strengthens it. That is until the storm passes and reality hits hard.
Honestly, I found myself a bit bored while reading this. The banter felt flat and followed that tired “I’m different from most girls” trope, which just didn’t do it for me. It’s a theme that’s been overdone, and this book fell right into that trap. The pacing felt sluggish, and I struggled to stay engaged even halfway through. I kept debating whether to put it down, but I held out hope that the ending would redeem it. Sadly, everything just ended up feeling forgettable. While the premise had potential, I didn’t connect with Aiden or Nora, and their characters fell short of my expectations.
Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for giving me the opportunity to read this story.
3.5 stars This is a fun, entertaining read. Aiden and Nora are interesting, complex, wounded, strong, intriguing, entertaining characters. The path to their HEA is not smooth but is entertaining to read. I enjoyed the growth in the characters from where they are at the start of the story to where they end up. The secondary characters added to the fabric of the story and my enjoyment. The story is easy to read and get into.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
A sweet and charming read! I really appreciate that the story didn’t stick to the usual rigid romance formula. It felt fresh, genuine, and a little unexpected in the best way. What stood out most to me was how both Aiden and Nora make mistakes—real, human ones. The story doesn’t gloss over that. Instead, it leans into the hard, emotional work of forgiveness, both of oneself and of the other. It made their relationship feel more earned and authentic, and I found myself rooting for them all the more because of it.
A delightful book that had me smiling from start to finish. The genuine chemistry between two extremely lovable characters, the witty banter, the fun Brazilian references, and the perfect balance of humor and heart made 37 Questions a truly charming read. The premise of the book is so unique and well executed that I was hooked from the beginning. Can’t wait to see what June Kaye writes next. 💜📚
Thank you to 8th Note Press and NetGalley for the Advanced Reader Copy of this book. It may be a tad bit late, but at least that means you can go and get the book for yourself now!
To start, the concept for this book was endearing and proved to be a very entertaining read. It also read like something from a fanfiction work online in the best way possible. It made me wonder if perhaps Aiden had been somebody else at some point, but never mind that...
I enjoyed this short and sweet read, though I did feel as if sometimes the writers could have fared with a bit of 'show don't tell' advice. It was 256 ebook pages and yet I would have loved to see the first half lengthened, some scenes felt almost too brisk and barely let me get settled into the dynamic before it was once again shifting.
While I understand this was meant to reflect both of their conflicted mindsets (to love or not to love) I feel like it shifted so much that it was almost confusing to the reader. However, I did very much enjoy the subtle references to Taylor Swift (always a win in my book) and the many details that were so clearly etched into the charachters.
Did I think Nora was being hypocritical with how angry she was? Yes. Did I scream at Aiden to just tell her the truth already? Also yes.
I have to say: something that I also loved was Nora's multicutural background. It's not something you see often enough in romance novels and I think it was well-done how this was interwoven into the story. Additionally, I do think it was clear in the writing that it was written by non-native English speakers. This does not bother me to any degree, but as a former English student I couldn't help but notice the odd turn of phrases here and there, scattered throughout the book. In fact, I actually think it adds a certain charm to the story that some other romance novels lack!
In conclusion, this was a short and sweet read that made me feel the feels and love the characters. I would definitely recommend to those who love a quick and breezy romance novel, though to me it lacked the overwhelming YES I LOVE ITTT feeling that I have experienced before with novels, but this is of course very subjective!
37 Questions brings an interesting premise that all of us probably thought of at some point - what if you were temporarily stuck indoors during a tornado with a handsome actor, and to pass the time you do a quiz together called "37 Questions to Fall in Love"?
As far-fetched as it sounds, it was a fun story to explore and I enjoyed that the characters were quite deep and worth getting to know better as the story progressed. There are references to chronic illness and miscarriage that aren't there just for shock factor, but are used in the story in a meaningful way that feels authentic. I also liked the overall theme, exploring how relationships come to exist and what it truly takes to build trust and intimacy.
What didn't click for me however was the instant love, though for some readers it might make sense considering the book happens over the span of just several days. It also relied quite heavily on miscommunication / lack of communication which isn't my favorite trope.
Overall this was a fun read! If you're into whirlwind romance that sweeps you off your feet, and you ever wondered how it would feel to meet your favorite celebrity, this might be the book for you!

Pedí el ARC de esta historia porque realmente me llamo la atención el plot de la historia que gira entorno a una serie de preguntas de una revista de chimentos!!! Me parecio totalmente increible.
I'm a fan of the forced proximity trope; that's what initially drew me in to this. I liked that they were basically stuck with each other until the weather cleared. Aiden is shy and stumbles over his words while he’s with her. And Nora is unapologetically herself. Their dynamic was quite interesting in this situation.
The characters are complex, and I enjoyed getting to know them. I just wasn’t a fan of how quickly they fell for each other. It was a bit unrealistic, and their chemistry felt a bit forced.
The miscommunication at the end was very frustrating to me :,) I didn’t like how they handled it and wasn’t exactly rooting for them to work it out.
Overall, I think my main issue is that I couldn’t connect with these characters.
I'd recommend you give this a go if you’re looking for a quick contemporary romance.
Thank you, June Kaye and 8th Note Press, for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Aiden is an actor and Nora is just a regular person. By happenstance, Aiden literally falls outside his old friend's house where Nora just so happens to live and makes a rare first impression. Nora being kind helps him out of the storm and into her home, first checking with her landlord (Aiden's friend) that he is not a bad person. Fast forward to the fact that they are stuck indoors for a storm and tornado warning and decide to do a 37 questions to fall in love quiz. During the storm they ask and answer questions and realize they do in fact like either. However, when Nora states she hates fame, Aiden holds back and doesn't tell her is is famous. Does this end the budding romance?
This story was cute but slightly just hard to really believe that after a few hours they are in love. I find the idea of the book cute but instalove can be a little hard to believe in certain circumstances. I did think it was a sweet romance with no real spice and would recommend to someone who doesn't like the spice and likes that instant connection.
Thanks to NetGalley, June Kaye, and 8th Note Press for allowing me to review this ARC!
Unfortunately, this book wasn't for me and I'm so sad because the premise sounded very promising. I ended up DNFing at around 30%.
My main issue has been the straight horniness from both characters from the very beginning. It fell flat, superficial, and difficult to connect with. I expected it to be more of a wholesome read, and where the attraction between the two main characters grew as they started to know each other better from talking and going through the quiz.
Another thing that has bothered me is how stereotypical Aiden is written as an English man - it keeps remarking things that we associate with British people, but it feels forced.
Thank you to NetGalley and 8th Note Press for the e-arc.
Yall can call me sensitive for this one but im dnfing at 33%. You WILL NOT catch me feeling bad for a guy who left his pregnant girlfriend alone in the hospital while she was giving birth and ended up having a stillborn, proceeds to blame her for losing his daughter, packing up his shit and moving to England while his girlfriend almost DIED giving birth. Nope lol. Bye.
