I really liked this book. I have been reading several about First Ladies and this one is easy to read. The authors do like to use obscure words when something simpler could be used. It is also interesting what they decided to write about which First Ladies.

They seemed to really like Lady Bird Johnson but not Lyndon. There was no mention of JFK's well-publicized women but a lot of words dedicated to LBJ's.

Pat Nixon did not come off well even though her chapter was the longest in the book.

Jackie Kennedy's chapter was one of the shortest and not a favorable feeling also.

Bess Truman was damned with faint praise. She was insulted with compliments.

Still, I learned a lot and enjoyed reading the book.
