¡Si te vas, no podré seguir adelante!
Jealousy rears it ugly head, yet manages to take this series to its peak. This could easily be the conclusion, but I see the library has one more volume for me. Placing hold now.
Finally in this volume Yamada confesses to Kase about her insecurity in relation to her romantic past. I confess I didn't really like the answer from Kase. I wish she had had another relationship in the past. This would be different from the usual yuri with high school girls who have never had a relationship (be straight or lesbian). One positive point is that Yamada seems really happy with her choice regarding university change, at least she didn't change the university ONLY because of Kase, probably 90% because of Kase, but ... I don't believe that the author will demonstrate more depth in the story, this is already the volume 4 and the two hardly touch the real problems within the relationship. But even with this topic that makes me very frustrated, the manga is still good to read.
I love everything about this series. I often find myself comparing shojo-ai manga to hereto shojo manga, but this one just stands on its own. I haven't seen many series that portray a relationship so simply and sweetly but also manage to have some drama without it being the usual pile of crap cliches.
...I wonder when they'll start calling each other by their first names.
Also! I really love that the story is building up to their future. I hope it continues thru University and beyond!!!!

This is the fourth volume of this adorable series, and as always, a real treat. The format is slightly different; instead of several chapter-long vignettes, this tells one longer story about their school fair and a race against a returning classmate. The extra space is put to good use letting their emotions build and play out in a longer format, and the art is as cute and bubbly as ever. It's great to see this; after my concerns in the last volume about where things were going, I feel my confidence in this series renewed again. There's also a fun little end story about shopping for a birthday present, and a flashback to an earlier time.
This volume was definitely better than the last one.
The insecurities thing keeps glaring up with Yamada and it’s just... it’s not great, the way it’s written. It’s extremely annoying. Fortunately there really wasn’t any fanservice this volume, very very minor.
Kase continuing to jump in and save Yamada... it’s cute but also the amount of saving she has to do from creeps. It’s getting old.
It really feels like they’re doing the same things relationship-wise that they’ve been doing, it’s not changing, just at different times of the year... I’d give it a 3.5 if I could.
Yamada has decided to go with Kase to Tokyo, but while kase already has her endorsement Yamada still has to study for her entrance exam... love this series, its great from the humour and characters to the tiny sprout added to yamada's head to show her mood!
Dommage quoi.
Kase-san and Morning Glories was originally published as a one-shot - I purchased it thinking that's all there is to it. I found out about the continuation of it before I actually got around to reading my copy. At that stage, I was really torn about what to do: I can't stand reading incomplete series, but the following volumes were quite pricey. I had half a mind to get rid of my copy again but eventually settled for giving it a try first - after all, it might just be good enough as the one-shot I thought it was.
Volume one was adorable - it didn't take much more convincing and I was up and ordering the rest of the series. Having read it as a whole now, I can say that each volume is equally beautiful and that I have absolutely no regrets for investing in this rather pricey series - it was worth every cent!
The main characters Kase and Yamada are quite different from one another, yet they make such a harmonious couple that won my reader's heart in an instant. Kase is athletic and keeps a feminine side despite being very much a tomboy. She is very protective of Yamada but is surprisingly generous and empathetic. Yamada can only be described as adorable and a bit of a goofball - she's had me laughing many a time with how much joy she takes out the simple things. She's definitely the naive and clumsy type but she also manages to stand her ground and make her own decisions when something is important to her.
As a couple, despite their differences, they couldn't have been better matched. Kase seems very much aware of her sexuality while Yamada only seems to understand hers gradually. It's clear from the start, though, that Yamada is in awe with Kase and the author did such a great job with how their relationship unfolds. It just has such a warm and sweet feeling to it! Although Yamada occasionally points out that they are both girls, the story never treats this as an 'Oh my god!' realisation. I feel as though a lot of stories with LGBT characters use it more as a trope for extra drama, but Kase-san and the Morning Glories is plain and simple an adorable story about two people in love who both happen to be girls.
I also have to mention how cute the art is. I really appreciated Takashima Hiromi art style, be it the cute and dainty girls or the hilarious expressions the characters wore during comedic moments. I thought it was a shame that, apart from a mid-aged teacher, there was never a proper drawing of a male character. It's another thing I noticed in LGBT focused stories; characters from the opposite gender are either non-present, unimportant or just nasty - I find that both a shame and unrealistic. But anyway, moving on, as far as art goes, I would love to see more of it!
As it happens, there is a sequel called Kase-san and Yamada. As much as I loved the original series, I am yet undecided on whether I will read the sequel. Takashima Hiromi seems to be one of those authors who manage to dish out a volume every 1.5 years. Depending on the length of the series, I might honestly not have the patience for this to conclude. That being said, Kase-san and Morning Glories is an episodic kind of story with a slice of life feel to it, which makes it an easy series to stop and consider concluded at any given time.
Better than the last volume but not as good as the first two. It's still keeps the formula of a good Kase-san volume though.
Art: The art is great as always, very expressive and cute.
Character: I like how both Kase and Yamada have their own little arcs, and have a bit more to their personality than the romance aspect.
Story: School festival! Always a treat to read in manga. The school festival feels more of a backdrop and to reintroduce Inoue-senpai. I wasn't to fond of that side plot at first but they do resolve it well at the end. There's some good little themes, nothing too stellar, but still very nice, adds some substance. Yamada doubts herself and compares herself to others, but here is finally proud of herself. I like how Kase and Yamada's hobbies are tied into the story. There are too many romances where the special interest can be removed or the characters only consist of romance traits.
Nothing too special this volume, but still special enough to be a good Kase-san volume. It's sweet, cute, with a healthy bit of drama.
The art is always improving in this series but it is really notable how much cleaner the lines are and how much the backgrounds seem to pop. The story is a little less sweet this time around.
It is about jealousy and while it does deal with it, the way they choose to address it is... not my favourite. I do think it is in line for the characters and I withhold judgment. But, it does leave me in a less satisfying state than I have been with previous volumes.
There is only one more volume in this arc and I hope this is just a "darkest before the dawn" thing. I am not sure why people say this series is so light. There are no BIG ISSUES but they still have a lot of shit they sort through.
No complaint, I just think the response undermines what the story is doing. That is more of a perception thing though. I look forward to a satisfying conclusion.
Another enjoyable collection that I delightfully devoured in one sitting. I love how in each volume Kase reveals another little tidbit about how long she’s been infatuated with Yamada. Her hints towards her desire for them to have a future together just melts my heart and totally makes me tear up!
Speaking of tearing up, I like how the creator in her afterword drew herself crying watching an animated clip someone made on YouTube with her characters. I found that touching.
Very excited to read the next volume...but sad as I think it’s the last book!
Angioletti, proprio.
Certo che Kase ha un seno enorme. Che fatica correre!
Still a bunch of fun! I definitely liked this installment more than the previous one.
Quick Thoughts: - Still find the plant on head bit hilarious - Yay they talk more things out and figuring out their relationship more - It was fun seeing Kase noticing Yamada for the first time (before the series starts) - I do enjoy the friendship between Yamada and Mikawa, it’s goofy and sweet - Art is adorable though there are wonky parts. Not my favorite but most definitely not the worst I’ve seen.
Lots of fun and I can’t wait to read the next volume! I think it’s the last one. I’ll have to do a little research.
This is such a cute series. :3 This one wasn't perhaps my favourite volume but it's still really good and has the girls overcoming feelings of jealousy and uncertainty when it comes to each other and their relationship, so there's some nice character growth too. There's a bit more drama in this but plenty of fluffy moments too.
Maid subplots are already horrible you don't need to make them even worse by one MC being a controlling gf and not letting the other wear a maid outfit. Also jealousy is not cute like rip to y'all but I'm different
A very beautiful story about two high school girls that fall in love with each other and start dating. This manga manages to talk about a lot of worrisome issues that come with being in a lesbian relationship and how the characters work through them. Very worth the read!
4 stars. Yamada meets Kase's ex (who wasn't really her ex) and finally tells Kase how jealous she was feeling. I liked it. This wasn't my favorite volume but it was still really cute and sweet. I also liked the last chapter from Kase's point of view set before the two even met each other.
