Although this book is longer than some in the series, the suspense still made it a short read.
I would've liked for Jeremiah to show us all where his hidden weapons were.
The upcoming wedding dress sounds cool.
I figured out Cindy's stalker before the characters did, although it isn't immediately obvious.
... so we have multiple police officers turning a blind eye now to murders because they like the fellow doing them?
This reminds me of "Killers of a Certain Age" and "Scythe" in that murder is seen as a good thing, instead of thinking everyone has a right to a trial and trusting the judicial system.
Also, for a book with no sex in it, it spends a lot of time discussing sex. Just be aware if you choose to read it.
This book shows more clearly than the prior books the differences in culture between the Jewish and Christian cultures. I would say it's depicted as legalism and grace, but there are variations within each religion and that is shown as well. Jesus did die to give us mercy when we invariably fail to keep all the rules, and that is the major difference between them.
SPOILERS from here on down the review. Viguie said that writing this was "emotionally grueling" and I wondered which part of the story was hard to write. It could've been several parts or them all together. Jeremiah's scars seem gruesome and troubling, as is the topic of suicide, the actions of the stalker, torture, threats, Jeremiah's job, etc.
... I liked Martin's "3rd way" that he came up with. I also liked the beginnings of resolution with family.
Not much longer and Cindy and Jeremiah will be married. But in the meantime Cindy has acquired a stalker that is ramping up his interest in her. Also a couple of Jeremiah's family members need his help. Once again their lives are in danger and the group becomes more determined to protect those they love.
Always a 5 star review for this series! I always think well it can't get much better than the last one and always the author surprises me and has me once again unable to put the book down! This had me on the edge of my seat practically the whole time I was reading it! At one point Cindy has a meltdown and I felt every bit of her emotions because they do seem like they can't catch a break. Cindy and Jeremiah are just realizing all of their differences in their faiths. As they navigate those issues along comes the visit from Jeremiah's family and Cindy's stalker. So much danger and so much excitement. As I said, definitely an un-put-downable book! I can't wait for the next one which is supposed to come out sometime this month! I hope soon! If you haven't read this series I would definitely recommend it! Read it and then let's talk!!!
Debbie Viguié is back in full force and so are her characters, especially Jeremiah and Cindy. This time trouble finds them… oh, wait, it almost always does. But the intensity of the trouble, the relationships, and the danger has gone beyond where it’s ever gone before. I screamed. I laughed. I cried. Finally, I smiled. One of the best mind-blowing installments yet.
By the way, I am really starting to like Mark! Way back when the series started, not so much. Everyone has changed by this book. The question in this book may be… have some changed enough, or is some change just not possible?
Looking forward to the next installment with trepidation!
Debbie's done it again! I love this series and can't believe we are getting close to the end. This installment was great and delves a little deeper into Jeremiah's family- so good!
