Ellen Young writes steamy, feel-everything billionaire romances—fast, emotional, and deliciously spicy. Her books deliver razor-sharp banter, explosive chemistry, and powerful men who fall hard for the last woman they expect. Think: fake dating gone very real, secret identities, forced proximity, surprise feelings (and sometimes surprise babies), and swoon-worthy HEAs with penthouse views. If you love big emotions, bigger wallets, and bedside-table-worthy spice, Ellen’s got you covered. (from Amazon.com)
Too wordy. Does that make sense. Just too much over explaining of thoughts and feelings. It's almost as though the author was trying to make a romance more than it should be. Making the sentiment be more intellectual than romantic. It wasn't bad, but it definitely wasn't good either... it was meh! I won't be trying another book by this author.
4.5 ⭐️ This book hits practically all my favorite tropes.
Rockstar Romance ✅ Opposites Attract ✅ Second Act Break Up ✅ Wit and Humor ✅ Funny Side Characters (including the Melody cat) ✅ Slow Burn/Yearning ✅
The only reason why I didn’t give it a full 5 stars was the pacing at the end was a little rushed for my liking. I would have loved for a bit more intensity. One other small thing is there were some inconsistencies and typos. I will say I loved the unexpected Melody POV at the end!
Max Is a rockstar who's used to no strings attached fun, that is until he meets Nora at a masquerade ball. They are instantly drawn to one another. Although the two initially have no idea what the other person looks like behind the mask, sparks fly, they share a steamy kiss, get stuck in an elevator together and then things just get crazier from there. We follow them on a journey as they overcome trust issues, go from fake dating to real dating and fall head over heels for each other. This man knows the way to a book lovers heart and he literally builds the dream library for her Overall a good read - full of steam, cute moments and unexpected events
I loved how Max and Nora met the first time. They didn't know who each other were but they felt a spark. I liked the second time they met each other, she still didn't know who he was. Max found that refreshing and decided to pursue her. When Nora did find out who he really was, she felt played and wanted nothing to do with him. Due to a compromising position, Nora agreed to three dates with Max. Their first two dates were hilarious because of everything that went wrong. They decided where things could possibly go but Melody takes the credit for getting them together. I liked the ending and hope the others get their own books.
This story would have easily been a 4 if it was edited properly. So many parts of the book were missing spaces, making it hard to read. Or it had way too many spaces or a wrong word that took me out of the story to figure out what was meant.
Max and Nora… she’s a shy librarian, and he’s an a-hole rockstar. It started sweet.
Due to potential scandal, they end up in a contractual arrangement - fake relationship, here we come! A relatively slow build - tensions rising, it’s almost halfway through the book before we get full smexy time… Secrets come to light, and Nora stands by him. He pushes for a bit more of a commitment from her, and she lets him in… Now… we’re only halfway here - a lot has just piled on… it’s too early for the HEA… so by this point, I’m waiting…anxious…anticipating something happening… 🥺
I’m just glad that the author wrote that the intelligent ones in the book were female - I’m glad she had a couple of people on her side.. I just wish that she made him work for it when the truth came to light.
On a final note… I enjoyed the story until that seriously stoopid third act break-up. I would have happily just read a sweet romance… But that epilogue..? Hilarious
Nora Davidson is a librarian and allows herself one night with a masked stranger she meets at a masquerade. Because he happens to be Max Donovan, a billionaire rockstar, and there is strong potential for a nasty scandal over any slight misstep, they kiss each other on the elevator. Later the elevator footage is examined and shows Max and Nora engaging in a very intense kiss, timestamp visible, and he wants her to fake a relationship with him so they can control the story and let it die down. With no real alternative, she agrees and they create their story. It becomes all too easy to develop feelings for Max and they add a few extras to the “faking” and she ends up pregnant. Jake then tells Max lies about Nora and, instead of talking it out with her to get the truth or even a rational explanation, Max believes Jake and walks out on Nora. He’s willing to support his child, but he wants nothing to do with her. He breaks her heart, leaves her at the worst time possible when she needs him there for her. If by some miracle he gets his common sense back, will Nora give him a second chance to make it up to her? Will he make it to the delivery room on time?
Nora meets rockstar Max Donovan at a masquerade ball by chance and the two of them are immediately attracted to one another. Max finds out that Nora is working on a fudraising event that he and his band are involved in and pretents to be stage crew so that he can encounter her again. This leads to a PR scandal where the two of them need to go on three fake dates. These dates don't go as planned and the two find themselves falling in love. Nora gives seeing Max a chance and even goes on tour with him but lies and a pregnancy threaten their relationship. I loved that Nora was just a bookish librarian who caught the eye of a rockstar. He saw more in her and he was so sweet. I was surprised when he flipped a switch and pushed her away at how cold he could be to her and I thought she forgave him too easily. The two of them were from two different worlds but genuinely fell for one another. I also loved that this book was funny at times.

Max and Nora meet at a Masquerade Gala, where he rescues her by pretending to be with her. Nora is a Librarian and is at the Gala at the insistence of her best friend who is home with the flu. Max and Nora enjoy some time together then Nora heads home. Max doesn’t get her number but when he sees the information on the Charity event Storm & Silence, his band is working with he volunteers to see to the sound items. While there Max and Nora get stuck in an elevator and an incident happens leading them to fake a relationship. This is a very good, fast reading book. There is a cat in the story, Melody, that even has her own chapter. Max and Nora are very good characters. I liked how both changed through the book. I liked the family and the found family aspect of the book. Rockstar verses Librarian lifestyles. I would definitely read more books by this author and this series.
Awe this was adorable, Max the big Rockstar falls for the quiet librarian and it is definitely love at first rescue. This was so cute, like how can you not think so when the big Rockstar pretends to be part of the crew just to be able to be near her without the pressure of being famous. He wanted to have someone like him for him. But with the media always trying to find something about him they blow his cover. They have some crazy first dates, some hilarious moments, and everything falls into place. Of course until again the media meddles and nearly breaks them apart. They make through that horrible rough patch and get to have a HEA....with the band who by the way are hilarious and completely unhinged in the best way. I hope we get more from the band.
The story was ok. But nothing earth shattering. It was a bit lackluster overall. And the drama was ridiculous. From his father to the faked website posts. Let's be real, no one would have believed she posted them in the first place. Hence why Vivienne even looked into it when she heard. He was ridiculous for not talking to her about it, especially with her just telling him she's pregnant. He chose to believe a tabloid reporter over his girl and then comes back with an "I'm sorry" and all is forgiven? Nah, dude. You need a better grovel than that. And she was way too quick to forgive! Demand better of these book boyfriends. Because this isn't one that I would keep.
This was an interesting read. The non labeled changes in point of view were a bit different for me but it wasn’t to hard to keep up with. I loved the innocence of our FMC and our bad big MMC was pretty straight forward for a rockstar. Although the librarian was pretty Pulitzer worthy for me cause you know I’m also a bookworm and I live for book smells. Isla what a cupcake I loved that chaotic ending so so much perfect way to end this story and being on the next! I need Emily to get with Lucas that would make me so so happy !
Not a bad book. A few places where editing failed: no spacing after punctuation (I know tiny thing, but it was consistent), a few typos, a few continuation errors, and a couple of places with repeating paragraphs. The timing in the last 20% (after the notorious 3rd act breakup) needed some work. I would rather the book go on more to get a better sense of their preparation for the baby, or what their life will look like in the future. It felt truncated and rushed.
The spicy scenes were pretty spicy and hot, but they were pretty far and few in between. Good story overall the day was random not really a factor so that was a little weird just like the weird investigator, but I knew what you were trying to do. I do think that meowdy is a much better name for the cat and Melody, but that’s just me. I would definitely be intrigued by the series.
New author for me but she has hooked me with her characters and steamy scenes. Let's face it a lot of these tropes are pretty predictable but there are just some authors who hit it right on with the romances that daydreams are built on. Who loves reality? This is a good one folks. On to another of her books to see if it was a one time thing or I have lucked into an author who knows what I am looking for.
I dont know why I should bother writing a review when all the reviews for this author are hidden!
Anyway as I like to keep a record of what ive read and what I thought....
loved the writing style, characterisation and story. it really should have been a 5 star read but there were too many mistakes or inconsistencies in the story.
in the hope that this was a one off I will was more by this author.
Loved this book from the way Nora met max until they had their daughter all the other characters were great! Loved Max's mother and his funny grandpa Sid. This was a great romance also loved the cat.
I enjoyed this story. Max and Nora are so good together. I loved the back and forth and chemistry between them. Max was so determined to win Nora over. SWOON! The story was written and paced well. It had good spice and was easy to read. Definitely worth the read!
The book has potential. There were some inconsistencies, and the lack of spacing after periods bugged me a bit. The book has potential but felt unfinished.
A virgin librarian gets kissed at a masked ball by a very handsome man who she later discovers is a popular rock star. Their relationship develops as outside forces try to ruin everything.
