Dad's Forbidden Best Friend

Rate this book
She’s the one woman I shouldn’t want. But the only one I’ll ever fight for.

I was trained to survive anything. As a Navy SEAL, I thrived in chaos and walked through fire. That discipline made me dangerous. It made me rich. But it didn’t prepare me for her.

Sophia Harrington - my best friend’s daughter - is off limits. The girl I wasn’t supposed to notice.

Her father once saved my life. Now he’s caught in a mafia war, and they’re using his family as leverage. That makes Sophia a target. A pawn. A threat they think I’ll ignore.

I was only supposed to protect her—get in, get out, and keep my hands to myself. But from the moment I pulled her into my arms, I knew I’d crossed a line I could never come back from.

She’s not just under my protection. She’s under my skin. And if they come for her, they’ll learn just how far I’m willing to go.

Because loving her is forbidden. But losing her? That’s the one thing I’ll never allow.

Hi romance lovers! 💋

If you enjoy Age Gap, Enemies-to-Lovers, or Forbidden Romance wrapped in high-stakes danger, you’ll feel right at home here. My books are full of heat, heartbreak, and the kind of love stories that will leave you breathless.

I love to write steamy, high-stakes contemporary romance where passion collides with danger. My heroes will risk everything, my heroines never back down, and the sparks between them? Always explosive.

I enjoy showing you strong heroines with minds of their own and all have missions that drive them! Of course, they always find love with handsome, strong men!

Let me know what you think! Love to hear from you!

With love,
Kayla Martyn 💋

For such a short story quite impressive I must say … it contains strong feelings from both protagonists for each other, loads of dedication to fight for the good side and strategically executed fights for survival that make a great page turner. 5-⭐️ material for sure!

A Partner Worth Fighting For -
Sophia was just looking to get some air in the garden when she was caught eavesdropping on a conversation by dangerous men, which put her life in jeopardy. Blaze’s only task was to keep Sophia safe after she was indirectly threatened, which led to them having to go on the run. The intense heat between Sophia and Blaze grew as they spent time in close proximity, which led to them satiating their desire when the opportunity presented itself.

Unfortunately, Sophia and Blaze’s mind blowing encounter was disrupted when the criminals found them, which led to a game of cat and mouse. Even though Sophia and Blaze kept moving locations, the criminal always found them, so they made the decision to turn the table on the people hunting them and take the fight to them instead. Sophia and Blaze working together to not only rescue her father, but they also removed the threat against them permanently, so they could get back on track towards their future happiness.

I absolutely enjoyed reading this angst and suspense-filled romance with so many unexpected twists and surprises, that I just couldn’t put it down once I started. If you are looking for a book that will have you glued to the pages, then grab a copy of the book now. This is the first book that I have read from this author, but it definitely won’t be the last.

I received a copy of this book free and I am voluntarily leaving a review.

This short novella had a lot of emotion packed into a few pages. The plot really worked well. I love a forbidden romance story. The progression of Blaze and Sophia’s adventure was fast, spicy, and action packed.
I did feel like there were parts within the story that were confusing. There were a few plot holes, if I’m being a stickler. This book overall had great potential. I think if it had been a bit more thought out and maybe spread their romance out a bit more I would have liked it better. Everything just happened so fast and I didn’t feel like I could keep up.
