Sarah Chen is a single mother barely holding it together. Working long shifts as a corrections officer at Millbrook Prison, she’s learned to keep her head down and her heart guarded. Until she meets Marcus Webb.
Marcus isn’t like the others. He’s intelligent, observant, and dangerously charming in all the ways Sarah can’t afford to want. What begins as innocent conversation soon turns into something deeper—and far more dangerous.
When Marcus steps in to help Sarah during a financial crisis, her carefully constructed boundaries begin to blur. As their connection deepens, Sarah finds herself risking not just her career, but her daughter’s future and her own sense of right and wrong.
Because in a place built on rules, falling for an inmate is the one line you can never uncross.
EXPOSED is the gripping first novel in the Behind the Bars series—where desire and danger collide in the most forbidden places.
This a fast paced, roller-coaster story. The FMC isn't a doormat or weak but I wouldn't call her strong either. She is a single mother who is led down to making bad decisions causing her to put herself and her daughter in danger. She knows she's making questionable choices that could cause her to lose her job and risks a lot because a guy says some pretty words and makes her feel seen. While I was like is she really doing this, I was also like wow, he seems so great and she really deserves a little great. I wanted her to have the castle in the sky with the man who made bad choices but seemed to own up to them and I really fell for him to. This is the first book in a series and I'm waiting to see how it all unfolds.
