For a man who thought he had everything, Trace Jacks sure had nothing now. After one letter blows his life apart, Trace is clueless how he can move on. He stumbles through the days, never accepting the grief that flows within him, and finding it easier to bury his loss. Hiding becomes a lot easier after he takes his niece to her dance class, striking up an interesting conversation with her teacher.
Shae Bennett is happy to keep things fun, enjoying Trace’s seduction and his spontaneity. With him she can forget about her concerns for her mom and stress of running the dance studio. With him she can be herself, and it is all-consuming.
When the fun beings to slip, when reality starts to encroach in the worst way, their relationship unravels at an alarming speed, leaving Trace and Shae battling for a way back to one another.
M. A. Stacie is never without a book or her eReader. A voracious reader, with a love of sexy, yet angst ridden novels, she loves getting lost in new worlds. Her need to write did not grip her until after her second son was born, when her previous rambles became fully fledged stories.
She describes herself as one huge contradiction, and though not the most conventional of hobbies, she counts getting new tattoos as one of hers. Along with running, knitting, and listening to loud music. However, she is yet to work out how to do them all at the same time.
M. A. Stacie lives in the UK with her husband and three sons.
This story starts us off with Trace Jacks receiving some bad news, that changes the course of his life forever. News that burn him to the core and breaks his happy life. On the flip side we're given Shae Bennett. A lovely ballerina attempting to keep it all together. Operating a ballet studio while her mother recovers from surgery, Shae is more than happy to take on the responsibility that the studio hands her daily. Teaching classes for little ballerinas, Shae and Trace meet when he drops his niece off for her first class. All Trace's anger over his current situation goes to the wind when he meets Shae. She seems to amuse him, and keep his troubles away. For Shae, there is an instant intensity when she looks into Trace's eyes. It's as if she can see into his soul.
Trace is the lead guitarist for the band, Wasting Light. On a girls' night out, Shae and Trace bounce up and a little sexy luster scene is given. It was cutesy and hot at the same time. I became a little perturbed because Trace never came off as the player, man-whore type he was portrayed as. To me he just seemed to be a sweet boy with the bad boy facade.
Trace and Shae decide to quell the intensity and lust that swirls around them both. One night, no strings attached. Trace is very clear that he isn't looking for more than a sexual, get lost in the moment type of relationship. And Shae is more than happy to oblige. She has her own problems she is trying to run from. A sick mother, a mortgage for both her house and the dance studio, and lastly a sperm donor of a father that just puts the final nail in their (her mother and herself) coffin.
As the story progresses, Trace battles with the unveiled secret that continues to emotional tear him apart, while Shae gets more and more bad news concerning her mother's health. They use each other as their own forms of escapism. Trace seems to always be around when "the shit hits the fan" with Shae, she opens up to him, but he isn't quite as willing to reveal his inner demons to Shae. The pain is too much and he feels that if he reveals his demons, he will become even more vulnerable and it will make the truth a reality.
M.A. Stacie gives us differing people, that collide in dance, they teach and learn from the other. A soft ballerina and a bad boy musician. Each gaining strength and learning to persevere with the support of the other. Sometimes, all its takes is one step.
This was a really sweet and endearing novel, and I do hope that Shae and Trace get their happy ending. My most awe-inspiring moment in this book, was when Shae grew some balls and stood up to her father. The fact that M.A. Stacie used real life situations, made the dynamics in the book more appealing.

This is a part of a series but can be read as a standalone.
This is Trace and Shaes story. When we meet Trace he's had some devastating news that blows his life apart. When fate intervenes he meets Shae, who may just be the light at the end of the tunnel for him. Shaes got her own problems worrying about her mum. The attraction between them is mutual.
I found this to be an enjoyable romantic read with enough angst to keep my attention. I read this book without reading the previous books. Although I don't feel as if I was missing anything I'll certainly be going back and reading the previous books as I really liked the characters.
Trace receives a letter that blows his world apart ..can't give away the details ...
Shae runs a dance studio alongside her mum .. Shae teaches the tots ..one little girl, Ella, will mean much more to her soon ... as soon as she realises that the hot guy who brings Ella is her Uncle and not her daddy like she first thought ...
There's lots going on in this book .. Shaes mum has medical problems ..an absent father.. a meddling sister and two people reluctant to give things a try ..
I thoroughly enjoyed this book ..I love it when characters from a previous book have a cameo appearance ..and yes I'm a sucker for a HEA ...
Trace is Dale's brother - we read Dale & Kyran's story in Beneath the Surface - and now it's Trace's turn.
He's the bartender in that underground fight-club Metro, where Kyran fights, plus, he's playing guitar in a band.
And for the last six months he has been the happiest guy in the world - being a Daddy to baby Tatum.
He's not really in love with her mom, but for his girl, he wants to try with Emmie.
But then he found out that his daughter's mom has been cheating on him - multiple times - and if that is not bad enough..... turns out that Tatum is not his daughter....
With his whole world crushing down around him - his sister Dale tries to cheer him up by taking him to see her daughter Ella's first ballet lesson.
And the sexy ballet teacher Shae might just be what the doctor ordered ☺
But Shae has her own problems, with her sick mom and the dance studio - she doesn't have time for anything serious.
But serious is not what Trace needs.....for now ☺
WHAT WILL HAPPEN WITH SHAE & TRACE??? WILL THEY GET THEIR HEA??? WILL THERE BE A CLIFFHANGER o.O
OR WILL EVERYBODY DIE AT THE END??? o.O
NOPE..... I'm not telling you ☺ I don't want to spoil anything!!! ☺☺☺ (OK - I can tell you that there's no cliffhanger ;) It's a stand-alone romance! ) ______________________________
I REALLY LOVED THE BOOK!!!
I already started to cry while reading the first pages...when Trace just finds out that he's not a father anymore :( So sad...
But the way he's trying to forget about all the sh*t in his life is really interesting to read...
The way he 'chases' after Shae ... and then once he catches her ..really sexy and funny and adorable!
Even if it takes them a long while to finally get over all their problems....
BEYOND THE SEDUCTION has everything a great Romance needs...
LOTS OF SEXY SCENES! Moving scenes Sad scenes Adorable scenes A tiny Rock-Star-ish scene ☺ Funny scenes Frustrating scenes Romantic scenes
and I loved that we got to see Kyran & Dale again ♥
BEYOND THE SEDUCTION was a really sexy and funny and adorable and really moving romance. You'll so want your own Trace after reading it ☺
Let me just say. I was not suppose to read it all in that night. I wanted a little before bed then pick up the next night. I was not that simple. I read it all in that one sitting. When I got to the end I wanted more. I love the recaps, review, revisits.
This new story brought me the extra that I was missing out of the first two books of the series. Trace is back and there is so much more to this man than we have had samples of. We get the back story and some. He gets more than what he could have bargained for. That is were Shae comes to play. There is a romance here. We watch it bloom, grown, and flourish.
Life has handed them both some bad apples. Who's to say that two bad apples can't make the orchard together that much sweeter.
Another case of the elements in the book being interesting on their own, but the sum of the parts didn't make for such a great read for me. I feel the main characters weren't characterized the best way and while the situations they had to deal with were certainly important and difficult to go through, I don't think it was easy to empathize because of their somewhat superficial personalities (or how they were portrayed to be).
In Beyond the Seduction we find two different people meeting at the absolute wrong time. Sometimes though, when you meet that one person who could change everything, the wait is worth the hurt. This book has plenty of hurt, but it also has laughter, happiness, friendship, and love. It was a very beautiful story of picking up all the pieces and moving on, even when you think your heart couldn’t possibly heal. It’s a story of family. It’s a story of letting go. It’s a story of hope.
Trace Jacks has just found out his infant daughter isn’t really his daughter at all. He is reeling, being completely unaware (although he had been warned) that his girlfriend was a cheat, and a frequent one. He is shattered, and has decided the best course of action is to cut himself off from them without any contact. He can’t possibly be the father to a girl who deserves to have her actual biological father in the picture, and he refuses to be with a woman who has cheated and lied repeatedly. His life is in shambles. Shae Bennett is has her own set of struggles. Her mother, who is not only her best friend but also her idol, isn’t quite right. The stress of figuring out what is wrong with her is only compounded by the stress of trying to run their dance studio by herself. Dealing with her absentee father is no picnic either. When Trace and Shae meet the sparks fly, but neither can afford anything other than a fling based on a need for mutual distraction.
I liked Shae and Trace’s romance. I felt like they really grew as individuals as the story progressed, especially Trace. When Shae really needed him, he was there and went above and beyond what most people would do in their situations. As they both worked out their demons it was clear that they had developed such a strong friendship that they really were better together than apart. I loved that Shae wasn’t afraid to tell him how it was, and really put him in his place when he was an idiot. On the flip side Trace could really break down her walls when she was being stubborn. Their chemistry was amazing and they could really steam up a page. The love scenes were well written and smoking hot. As a couple they just worked really well together.
This book took me through a gamut of emotions. I was shocked, angry, concerned, devastated, sad, frustrated, and then so so happy. It was a slow burn, with a lot of misunderstandings and then outside forces keeping them from going all-in. In the end they were stronger for it. This was a good book if you like your romance with a side of angst, steam, and overall good storytelling. It is definitely worth checking out.
~This book was provided to me in exchange for my honest review.~
Trace Jacks we met in book 1 of the Reluctance series, he was the brother of Dale and worked at the Metro. In book 3 we find out more about this lovable character other then him being Big brother to Dale, we get to delve deeper into his life and I for one was truly excited!
Trace is having a rough time of it, this is the understatement of the century! He just found out his girlfriend had cheated on him - multiple times!! Not only that but his daughter isn't really his. Needless to say he is one messed up dude and needs to stay as far away from the female population as possible.
Until he meets Shae his niece's dance teacher who for the first time in weeks has made him crack a smile. Shae is drawn to the intriguing blue eyes of Trace Jacks but their is something about him that rubs her completely the wrong way. She knows their is a story behind him however she has enough to deal with right now - Her mother - Daddy issues and the dance studio. The last thing she needs to take on is Trace Jacks and his haunted past.
But sometimes your head and your body want two very separate things!
Loved this book! I wanted to know more about Trace from the very start and I am glad I got to know him better he truly was a stand up guy. I thought he and Shae complimented each other very well, and I enjoyed the banter between this couple. I was so happy to see the author bring all our favorite characters back together in this book. It's always awesome to see character development with our favorites.
M.A. Stacie did an awesome job with an incredible series - Any Fan of Melody Anne would also enjoy the Reluctance Series
Such an addictive read that I swallowed in two hours because I couldn't put it down. We meet Trace first and he's on the verge of spiraling out of control because not everyone is meant to be trusted. After falling into Trace's disaster, we meet Shae. Her life is beginning to slowly unravel. The two have chemistry and an instant attraction.
The two become an escape for one another and rely on each other eithout meaning to. Massive shifts happen to which Shae had to save Trace and the again where Trace had to save Shae. The biggest saving grace comes to be their love for one another. M. A. Stacie spun an emotional and beautiful story which will make you ache for the characters, laugh with them, smile with them, and fall in love with them.
I liked Trace, but didn't like how he handled himself around Shae in their first few meetings, but she didn't seem to mind!
I felt for Trace, the hurt he was going through. I liked Shae and Trace together even with all their drama going on.
I was thrown when the story took a turn I wasn't expecting. It made things even more difficult for them but it showed Trace to be a keeper, well I thought so.
This book was very difficult for me to get into which was a shame because when I found out this was to be Trace's book, I was quite excited. I liked Trace when I met him Beneath the Surface and loved the relationship that he had with Dale.
It was hard for me to connect with Trace and Shae for very different reasons.
With Trace, the devastation he went through was very foreign to me and it was not something that I could comprehend. I think that I would understand it would be devastating intellectually but it's not something I can imagine. Although, for people who are in his situation, I think this would be very moving and very emotional.
With Shae, she was just too unpredictable for me. She blew hot and cold, she got angry and then she was not. And when tragedy struck, and this time, I did understand how incredibly horrible what happened to her could be, I found it difficult to deal with her drama. It just seemed long and drawn out. There was a lot of wallowing and I'm not a fan of wallowing, even though I understand it takes time to get over something like what happened to her.
This story is just drama piled upon drama. It was like Ms Stacis asked herself how much drama she could fill a book with and then added more for good measure. I got fed up of the drama and just wanted it to be over.
I got to 87% of the book and was ready to not finish it and give it a big fat DNF because I was getting so fed up with Shae and the story not going anywhere, but I was stuck on the train and didn't have anything else to read, so I powered on. The reason I wanted to stop reading at that point was because Shae did something which really turned me off.
It's probably a good thing I was stuck on the train and I kept reading because Trace's behaviour in the last 10% of the book really redeemed it for me. He was suddenly the mature one, the emotionally strong and stable one, and he fought for what he wanted. He approached his situation with Shae like an adult and he did not back down in the face of Shae's half-hearted protestations. Trace insisted that he and Shae work through things in a "sit down, let's talk about it like adults" fashion without backing out and without being harsh. He handled the whole situation brilliantly.
For two really messed up people, I'm glad they got their happy ending. committed to review the series, so I'm going to persevere.
* This book was sent to me for an honest review. All opinions in this review are my own. I received no compensation for reading and reviewing this story.
Trace's world is shattered to pieces when he learns that he has basically been used for the past few months in order for his now ex to be able to welcome her daughter into the world in a normal fashion. Trace had no clue that he was not the father of this child until he received the news after he had already bonded with her and welcomed her into the world. Trace has no idea how he is going to recover from this harsh reality that someone could be this cruel. Trace's sister is the only person he has that really cares about him and checks on him regularly. She has a daughter, Trace's niece, that he adores but it is really hard for him to be around her because she remind him of the reality that he now has to face everyday.
When Trace's sister insists that he join them for his niece's first day of dance class, he has no idea what is in store for when he meet Shae. Shae was taken by Trace when she first saw him but was not impressed with his mood/attitude he exhibited around her. Trace was just trying to make it through another day but his sister informed him that he was very rude to Shae and that he should apologize to her. When Trace went back to apologize to Shae, he realized that there was more there than just an acquaintance, Trace liked her. Shae and Trace got to know each other a little better and soon realized that they had a lot in common.
Shae's mother, who had been the one to raise Shae by herself, began acting unusual and Shae had her checked out by her doctor. They were running tests to see if they could come up with anything for a diagnosis. Trace totally lost it one night and Shae went to take care of him and console him to get through the night. When Shae returned home, she had numerous messages that something had happened with her mom and her whole life changed. Trace realized that he had to be there for Shae but never knew that Shae would blame him for how her life had changed completely.
This story had a HEFN and I hope that it turns into a HEA for these two. I love the way that M.A. Stacie had the characters deal with real life situations and made them realize that they had to do what was best for themselves and what made them happy. Thanks for a great story!!
"If you keep on fixating on the past, your future will walk right out of your life." For Trace thinking was looking up he has a girlfriend and a baby and things couldn't get any better. That was until he found out his girlfriend was cheating on him, with his band mates, different guys and the light of his life the baby is not even his. This were going from bad to worse that he was pretty much hiding from everyone. The one thing to lure him out was his young niece, the one thing he hasn't expected on was her amazing dance teacher to warm up that cold heart of his.
Shea helps run her mothers dance studio and lately her mother just isn't up to it. In fact her mother isn't much of her self lately with her forgetfulness and thinking things are currently as they were in the past. Shea's father isn't in the picture and made is clear he doesnt want to be in her life by his actions. When she meets Trace things start to look up, they are only looking for a little fun. Thing start to get complicated. As much as the fooling around is making the current problems go away it don't say gone and things will only get worse the longer buried.
I loved watching the romance and connection between Shea and Trace. I loved that they were able to heal and support one another when things got tough. I thought it was interesting getting to know more about each character as the story progressed. The story was well written with an interesting story line. Overall I really enjoyed the book. I found out that this is apart of series so I'll be sure to check out the previous books because I'm taking it as each story is a stand alone in this series.
Can I say emotional, oh my I don’t think I have cried so much reading a book this year. This author’s writing was on spot and I could feel the emotions through the writing. I know that by the end of the story I felt so drained from crying but then I got to the epilogue and all I could do was smile because it was a great way to end the story.
Trace and Shae are going to go through a rough journey in their relationship even though they don’t know they are in a relationship. Trace has just experienced the worst pain a person can have and he is just heartbroken. I love that the author didn’t make him a macho guy and let him cry because of the situation. Then there is Shae a woman that is going to be tested in the very end. She is going to go through so many emotions that in the end she is going to push Trace away. Sure what started off as a one night of passion turns into something wonderful but Trace knows that he can’t let himself fall again because she will tear him into pieces. Now as for Shae she knows that he has problems and it kills her that he doesn’t want to open up with her and when he finally does it breaks her heart. But things can’t always be heart and flowers when Shae’s life falls apart so does the relationship that her and Trace have.
Beyond the Seduction was an excellent read. Trace and Shae have great chemistry. I love when stories transport me into the storyline and I connect with the characters. This author’s writing is intense, unique and intelligent. I know that I read this series out of order but I can’t wait to read the second book in this series.
Trace seems to be at an all time low. When life as you know it changed in a heart beat. How do you learn to move forward when you are stuck in the now? The hurt that he is going through is all consuming. He tries to ignore his family and not share his thoughts and feelings. Trace is a genuine nice guy who is desperately looking for a distraction from his life.
Shea is the fun loving dance instructor, who runs the studio with her mom. It has always just been her and her mom throughout life. Feeling that she has enough on her plate right now she is not looking for anything other than a good time. Not that she makes a habit of it. When she finds herself getting a little more invested than she hoped she tries to step back.
This is an emotional adventure about learning to deal with blindsided devastation, learning how to cope with the pain, and how to fight for moving toward a future that you never expected. Even when there is loss there is also still life and we must live it. Can Trace and Shea help each other through their loss and find their way to each other.
While this is the 3rd book in the series. I have not read the previous books. There was not issues with following along with the story but I have a feeling with some extra spare time I might venture back and see where it all began.

This is Trace Jack’s book; he is Dale’s big brother. In this book we get to see into his life. He going through a rough patch, his girlfriend cheated on him not just one time but multiple times. Theirs more he also finds out that his daughter isn’t really his. All that he has found out tears him up. Shae is, Trace is niece’s dance teacher. Clearly she is attracted to him, but know something is not right with him. She decides that she has a lot on her plate right now, with issues with her parents and studio. So she steers clear of those beautiful blue eyes of his. The body and the mind sometimes clash, and caused them to give in. I like their chemistry together; they are great as a couple. I was pleased when all the characters from the other books appeared. It was a lovely ending.
This book had an interesting plot to it; I thought it definitely had a different approach to getting the usual troubled characters to open up about what's hurting them than most other similar romance books that I've read. It was really refreshing to see this one was a little different!
I didn't notice that this was #3 in a series until I was done, so I like that it can be a standalone read as well as one of a series. It was great writing and definitely worth the morning I spent reading it (I literally didn't put it down until I was done lol read it all in one Saturday morning so it does draw you in).
I think it was just not a favorite of mine, only based on my personal taste as a reader. It's still an absolutely great book and worth checking out!
I loved this book, just like I loved all the other ones in the series. Trace he's a hands on type of man, "oh, yes." He hitched her skirt up and cupped her a**. "You do that. And it's just what I need, babe." He's always teasing his girl but in a fun way, "Trace jumped onto the bed. It creaked, the springs protesting at his weight. "Looks like we'll be effing on the floor." Shae inhaled. Trace continued. "Either that or we'll have musical accompaniment." Sometimes the things Shae comes out with can shock her man but that's always a good thing keeps Trace on his toes, "Trace started to choke on a fry. "You need to work on your dirty talk, babe. It's called a c***. Not junk." I can't wait to see what this author comes up with next.
This book was just wow; in this book we catch up with Dale's brother (remember book 1) Trace and his love drama and we also meet Shae, who is also going through her own ordeal. Trace and Shae form this I need you but I can't be with you really relationship, that of course blows up in their face.
I loved that Trace is able to get his head on straight quickly and rescue Shae from herself. What I did not like was that we only get a reference to the confrontation between Trace and his ex; I mean really, she messed him up bad and we don't get to read about a final showdown, that right there cost this book a whole point. Plus, even Shae got closure with her dbag of a father.
Thanks to the author for a book to read and review.
I'm seeing a pattern with these reluctance series.....these men are reluctant to fall in love. In this one Shae meets Trace at a dark moment in his life, in fact this book is filled with the hard points of life. If it's meant to be though it will. I enjoyed Shae's battle with life's moments, and what happens to her mom. As a dancer she is getting by, and then she meets Trace and time stands still. I felt the start to this novel was a bit awkward, but the ending came through in flying colors. Overall entertainment is four stars!
I've been devouring M.A. Stacie's Reluctance series, and I think this one's my favorite. Of course, I thought that after reading the first two, as well. Beyond the Seduction showcases how beautifully the author is in control of her characters (and we all know how hard characters are to control!), leading them through valleys and over peaks in the emotional landscape. I cried and laughed with Shae and Trace, wanting nothing but the best for them. Because that's another thing M.A. Stacie does to perfection -- makes the reader care about her characters.
Five stars. Because the site won't let me give more.
This story was good if you are looking for a typical romance novel. Trace is dealing with some serious demons. Shae is a really loveable and likeable character. I loved the author writing about her dancing. It was very descriptive and drew me in. The chemistry between the two main characters is very good. The only problem I had was I felt the story drug on a little bit. Also, the sex scenes weren't quite as steamy and detailed as I liked. That's just my personal opinion. Otherwise, it was a good romance story with enough grit to keep it interesting.
This book had some ups and downs for me. I really liked the premise of the book and loved the first half. Trace and Shea had chemistry. They were able to just be with each other. They were friends who were there to support each other. While loved the first half of the book, the second half dragged on too long and left me feeling sad.
I felt that certain pivotal story lines weren't addressed by the end of the bok. I didn't get any closure on the most important issues.
I didn't read the others in the series but I'm looking forward to reading the previous books in the series.
Beyond the Seduction is the story of Trace and Shae. WE start off with Trace getting news the just rips his world apart and rather than dealing with it spirals out of control. Then comes Shae. She has her own set of problems with her mother and the dance studio.
These two characters are quite interesting and work through their issues while using the other to escape for a little while. While saving each other at times they are saving themselves too. Their love is changing for both of them.

I thoroughly enjoyed this storyline and book. The writing was much improved from the first and second of this series. The heart-wrenching lives that the main characters are living, makes good reading and it was good to see other characters from previous books mentioned.
Emotional wreck. That's all I can say about how this book left me at. Times. Stacie has that rare gift of taking you to hell in back but in a way that leaves you wanting to stand up and give her a standing ovation. I just loved this book so much. Full review to come
