I received an ARC of Kat Parson's debut novel and absolutely loved it!
What stood out to me was the excellent writing. I read a lot of romance novels, and while I often enjoy the stories, it’s rare that the writing itself adds so much to the experience. The language flows beautifully, and the style makes the book an absolute pleasure to read from start to finish.
The plot is well-structured, with just the right amount of tension and surprise to keep things interesting. The chemistry between the main characters builds naturally, and I really appreciated how their emotional connection developed alongside the physical one. The sexual tension was electric — slow-building, believable, and perfectly integrated into the emotional arc of the story. I also loved the dual POV; it added so much depth, especially when it came to Austin’s secrets and internal struggles.
The setting was another highlight. I’m not from Texas, but the way the town and the ranch were described made everything easy to picture and conveyed a strong sense of place. The side characters and family dynamics were introduced effortlessly.
This book hit all the right notes for me — a well-paced story, interesting characters, and beautiful writing. Highly recommended for anyone who loves contemporary romance that’s just as smart as it is swoony. I'll definitely pick up the next book in the series!
