"Prom Queen is a really fucked up tradition… but that plastic silver crown with fake diamonds will be mine."

"The Prom Queen Project" is a YA romance with all the hallmarks of an early 2000s rom-com. Experience what it means to be a teenager by diving into a story that captures the complexities of surviving high school. This story tackles the important topics of love, social anxiety, bullying, conformity, self-discovery, and navigating a world that seems too big to exist in.

CLARKE TAYLOR seems to have it all—Popularity, beauty, money, and to top it off, she's Summerville High's head cheerleader, but there's one thing she's still missing—The Prom Queen crown. You'd think it would be easy for a picture-perfect blonde to win a plastic tiara, right? But with Clarke, nothing is as it seems. Despite her exterior persona, Clarke is a secret nerd with raging social anxiety, but she is determined to win Prom Queen to prove her former bullies wrong. She develops a foolproof plan to win the crown, but to do it, she must appeal to everybody, including a group she has desperately been trying to avoid—The outcasts.
Enter ELLIOT KELLER, a misfit repeating his senior year who wants nothing more than to graduate and get out. When the two of them have a chance meeting in detention, it’s hate at first sight, but Elliot holds the key to the one group she can't crack. In a desperate attempt to claim the crown and escape the weight of being popular, Clarke proposes a deal: she'll do his assignments if he agrees to fake date her in order to boost her morale with the outcasts and provide relief from her shallow friends.

But what happens when the line between real and fake begins to blur? What happens when her friends start to question her popularity? Will Clarke sacrifice the crown for her heart?

So lucky to be chosen as an ARC reader for Jasmine’s upcoming novel ‘The Prom Queen Project’! 📣✨🪞

Straight away this book had me HOOKED! The tropes, the characters, the pace, the style of writing - perfection! From the moment I began reading, I felt as though I was a student at Summerville High alongside Clarke and Elliot, two relatable MCs.

Jasmine’s ability to perfectly craft likeable characters (who still possess flaws) was my favourite part of the read. I found ways to relate to every single character, particularly the FMC, Clarke (despite not having an Abercrombie model looking boyfriend or being the captain of the cheer team - we can’t have everything haha).

If you’re looking for a book with these tropes below, then The Prom Queen Project is for you:

🌸 Fake Dating
💫 Enemies to Lovers
📚 She’s His Tutor
🌸 Cheerleader x Bad Boy
🫣 Secret Nerd
🌸 Social Anxiety Rep
🏡 Small Town Vibes

Five-star rating for sure! I cannot wait for everyone else to get the chance to read this book! The Prom Queen Project release day is August 1st 2025! Follow @jasmines.writing.corner for more sneak peeks and to keep up to date with everything!

Ughhh I loved this book — a true ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ read for me!!
I finished it in one sitting because I literally couldn’t stop. The characters? Fell in love with them. The personal growth? Chef’s kiss. The banter? On point. The fake dating trope? YES PLEASE.
It was the perfect mix of fun, feelings, and fierce moments. This book gave me butterflies and had me grinning like a fool — I'm obsessed!!

Thank you so much to the author for the ARC — I already want to reread it 🩷

OHMYGOD!!

Firstly, thank you Jasmine Dade for the Arc opportunity!!

When I tell you I was hooked from the prologue!! LITERALLY THE FIRST PAGE, I was sat and ready.

I don't usually read YA novels but this one caught my attention before receiving the ARC and I had to give it a read, and let me tell you, it DID NOT disappoint!!

Our FMC Clarke Taylor struggles to find herself a path in highschool, wanting to fit in and "be popular". Our MMC Elliot Keller is an emo, bad boy wants to have fun kind of guy--who happened to fail his senior year and had to repeat.(come on dude!) Anyways, I knew the chesmitry betweeen these two was gonna be so fun!! and getting to feel the other characters too!! Omgg the friendship Clarke and Andrew have is everything! I loved it! and then we have Dani and Kendra!! I enjoyed the warm feeling of seeing them get together and become friends, mapping out the ways of senior year of high school and being teenagers.

(SLIGHT SPOILER!! WE don't vibe with Meredith, Mason and Ryan!)

Elliot is this sweet guy and he was always there for Clarke no matter the situation they had coming they're way! The dynamic and build between these characters and as indiviuals-in this book it shows you how they grow and it just gripps you into their world!! And let's not forget the whole purpose-the goal of prom queen!! Uhm, that's for y'all to figure out when you read this beaut!

This had become a favorite!! I love a good friends to lovers romance and this one took the cake!

5/5⭐

The Prom Queen Project reads like a love letter to the golden age of Disney Channel movies. From the very first page, I was swept up in its charming flow—it instantly transported me back to the first time I watched Radio Rebel. Sure, I could sense where the story was headed, but that didn’t make the ride any less delightful.
Clarke’s subtle references to her sister—never quite revealing the full story—added a layer of mystery that kept me hooked. And the way Jasmine captured Clarke's experience with anxiety was genuinely impressive: sensitive, realistic, and deeply relatable.
And then there’s Elliot. The classic bad boy with cigarette smoke in his wake and a motorcycle as his chariot—what more could you want in a YA love interest? Watching their relationship bloom—from fake dating to mutual obliviousness to something real—was the sweetest kind of slow burn. It gave me Geek Charming vibes in all the best ways: about self-discovery, authenticity, and choosing to live for yourself.
In the end, Clarke reminds us that real beauty doesn’t come from the crown—it comes from within.

I read this a while ago, and I absolutely loved it. A solid ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ from me. Clarke and Elliot are such lovable characters (especially Elliot!), and I really appreciated how their relationship developed in a way that felt both realistic and genuinely sweet.

The writing was clear and easy to follow, and the author did a great job of addressing difficult topics like social anxiety and bullying with care and sensitivity.
Thank you so much, Jasmine Dade, for the ARC 🩷

Thank you to Jasmine Dade for giving me the opportunity to be an ARC reader.

Clarke and Elliot are so cute together. I liked how all the characters were likeable and still had their own flaws. I especially liked how Clarke realized that as much as she didn't like to be judged, she judged others a little too much and tried to remedy that.

Overall it was a really nice book💕. I absolutely love Andrew, Kendra and Dani🥰.

Can't wait for everyone else to read and enjoy it as much as I did😊.

arc review 📖

‘the prom queen project’ is very reminiscent of the classic 80s/90 romcoms, brimming with the tropes and embracing them wholeheartedly, along with twisting some of them on their head. the dynamic between the two leads, clarke and elliot, is incredibly enjoyable, their back-and-forth being a highlight of the book for me. im very thankful to have received an arc, i sped through it and would definitely recommend to romance book lovers.

The Prom Queen Project follows Clarke Taylor as she tries to achieve her goal of becoming Prom Queen whilst navigating her fake relationship with Elliot, who is an outcast and artist.

It was a fun read and had some really captivating moments with some quite relatable and heartwarming ones. But was not quite what was expecting from the book. To be entirely honest, I wasn't Clarke's biggest fan, but I found Elliot to be a really fun love interest and character to follow, so I really got attached to him!
I highly recommend the book if you enjoy any of the following tropes, these also being my favorites: fake dating, her being his tutor and secret nerd.

“Princess?” Elliot was standing in the doorway. “What are you doing here?”
“Showing Meredith I’m not ashamed of you,”

‎An overdue ARC Review... 🫠

‎I was selected by the author to be part of the ARC team for her book, "The Prom Queen Project," and I enjoyed it so much!

‎Reading about Clarke felt so relatable. I understood her fears and her desire to "feel among"—it reminded me so much of my own secondary school days. I loved her growth: realizing she was with the wrong company and having the courage to step away from it.

‎Now, Elliott... He’s the perfect sweet-bad guy. I love how much he loved and cared for Clarke—even when he tried to hide it. His pet name for her was "Princess"—you guys, I was melting. 🥹 Their banter, chemistry, and even their little shenanigans was fun and interesting!

‎The author’s writing style is engaging and vivid. The character development was done so well—one moment I was annoyed at Elliott, the next I was “awwing” myself away. 😍 The cheerleading scenes were another highlight; it felt like I was right there in the middle of it all. And let’s not forget the fake dating trope—two enemies pretending to be a couple? Jasmine wrote it so well. It was sweet, hilarious, and swoony. 😂❤️

‎This was such a good read, and I’m definitely looking forward to reading anything the author writes.

‎A huge thank you to Jasmine Dade for this ARC. ❤️

👸🏍️🏫Loved this story! It follows Clarke, a determined girl aiming for the title of prom queen, and she realizes that she needs Elliot, the ultimate outcast, to make it happen. Their journey is incredible as they lift each other through thick and thin. Just picture it: when Clarke experiences panic attacks, Elliot is right by her side, offering support and comfort. And in return, Clarke helps Elliot tackle his studies. Their love story is nothing short of breathtaking—it beautifully weaves together themes of friendship, love, kindness, and the importance of being true to oneself.( I loved it 😍🤩👑🩷🥰 your an amazing author ❤️❤️)

👑 ARC REVIEW 👑

This book hijacked my brain and honestly? I let it. One minute I started, the next? Boom—done. 310 pages gone and I’m just sitting here, emotionally wrecked, staring at the acknowledgments.

The characters? Bear-fight worthy. The fake dating? Elite. The banter? I was in the situationship. And the emotional growth? Uncalled for.

Chaos, chemistry, and cry-a-little moments all in one. I grinned like an idiot and now I don’t know what to do with myself.

The Prom Queen Project is a YA romcom by Jasmine Dade. Typically I don’t read YA, but I loved this book!!! The head cheerleader fake dating the misfit, felt so reminiscent of the 00’s romcom’s that I devoured during my high school days. The author did such a good job of writing the characters of Clarke and Elliot, and their character journey as well. Even though this was a fun read, it did a good job of addressing difficult topics such as social anxiety, bullying, conformity, and self discovery. This was such a good read, I ended up staying up past my bedtime to read!! Thanks Jasmine Dade for giving me an opportunity to read this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
