Mack Banes is the first face you want to see in the last place you'd want to be…

Wreck Jumpers are highly specialized soldiers trained for search and rescue deep behind enemy lines. They are the special forces operators sent in when things have already gone from bad to worse.

Malcolm "Mack" Baines and his Recovery Team are the best of the best. When a Special Orbital Assault Regiment School nestled inside an asteroid belt suddenly goes dark, Mack and his team of Wreck Jumpers are tasked with putting eyes on the target.

Their recon the site and turn the comms back on.

What they find is a base in chaos with survivors desperately holding out for rescue amid oceans of floating rock and an unknown enemy determined to make the Wreck Jumpers part of a growing body count.

Just one wrong move could mean a crushing end in the cold vacuum of space and the death of everyone relying on Mack and his operators…

But that's why Mack became a Wreck Jumper in the first place.

Did not finish
September 16, 2025
Didn't finish after the initial chapters. This is not so much as a review, but rather a roadsign for anyone interested in this novel so they know what to expect.

- the prose is old schoool Wikipedia style. Whenever a term or tech is introduced the book makes sure to insert what feels like a wiki article with an explanation. This makes the text extremely tedious and clunky to read.

- endless repetition: (The teams pilot, *Snowball*, cut through the chatter [...]: "Mac, it's *Snow*)

- the opposition in the opening chapters and the way they are portrait is certainly something. Our plucky heroes have to deal with the "Donks", aliens who live as migrants and who get shuffled from one world to another. And wouldn't you know it, they always find something that offends their religion or code of morals, leading to violence and them getting shuffled to another world. When a naive space station full of elites invited the *poor* refugees in, these dirty hordes turned the space station into a crime-ridden hellhole. The men like to shoot in the air with weapons, shout "Death to the Republic" while the females "in their shapeless, body length coverings" like to wail and throw themselves against soldiers. This was the part where I decided to bail. We all know where this kind of characterisation is going. I, for one, didn't want to wait for some long nosed banker aliens to be introduced, pulling the strings from the background with their money and their media empire ......

Great addition to this universe

The main season storyline in this universe has gotten bloated. The spinoff series are definitely worth reading and the authors get to focus on what the teams instead of the larger universe. This is definitely one of the better leej books out there. I'm glad REC Team Pelican got a 2nd book because the first one is the best order of the centurion book. This one ran a little long in parts but the action and battles are in some new and unique settings. I'm looking forward to the next one. KTF.

yet another amazing novel

As a lifelong fan of military/science fiction, I’m grateful that Jason and Nick dedicate their professional lives to entertaining their fellow citizens. We, as readers are so fortunate to have them and the growing number of post GWOT writers to help us explore both our past careers and see how our fellow warriors of the future fight with the same tried and true tactics of speed, surprise and violence of action. Thank you gentlemen for your dedication to your art.

Wreck Jumpers is a tight, mission-driven entry in the Galaxy’s Edge universe that leans fully into elite operator realism and high-risk recovery operations. Following Mack and his team of specialist extraction troops, the story wastes no time throwing them into a brutal, isolated situation where survival and execution matter more than grand speeches or politics.

It does not try to reinvent the Galaxy’s Edge formula, but it expands the universe in a satisfying way. A strong, fast read for fans of military sci-fi. Four stars.

This was inadvertently my first trip into the Galaxy’s Edge universe, but I really enjoyed it! Whether it’s meant to be an introduction point or not, it can certainly serve that role as everything from the established universe is explained in a way that meshes well with the action packed story and allows the reader to pick up easily. The characters are also well developed, likable, and entertaining. Looking forward to the next one! Amazon MGM, looking for your next movie/series?

Jumped at this book when I heard about it

Wow. Science-fiction, military sci-fi, special operations, spy drama, and a medical rescue team like Pararescue or the Green Beret docs. And it’s not even my birthday.

Really enjoyed this, tremendously. If this series continues, it will go on my immediate buy list. If you like military sci-fi, or action sci-fi, give this a read.

Darn good story

Always love books from this universe and this one doesn’t fail. Really good flow. Actually read most of the book in a day. Love the new team. Looking forward to more stories about them.

Phenomenal

Definitely a page turner, a devourer of sleep. I hate to say it but I was once a reader of Galaxy’s Edge novels years back but got away from them. This novel has shown me the error of my ways.

Outstanding Story

This is another outstanding book by An space & Cole. The Legion lives on and the plot gets thicker. This is a page turner and a novel of traitors and spies.
You're gonna just love if. The beat goes on!

pretty good story line. The action is non stop which is very entertaining. I kind of didn't remember the stand alone book amd so it took a while to remember all the characters.

The authors are the best. Their stories are always great, and so is this one. When I saw who was narrating, I didn't wait! Clifton Duncan also narrated Underspire by the same authors, he is SO GOOD. I hope he does more Forgotten Ruin books, and I will be getting Wreck Jumpers 2 immediately upon release! He is very gifted at voices and accents. The story itself was non stop action, and so well written, the dialog, the descriptions, everything! Just amazing!
