This book reads like a well written Wikipedia article with excellent photos, maps and diagrams. I wish the source attributions had been clearer. There were a few stories that were presented as facts, but when I into them a bit, the historical nature of the stories was tenuous. Overall though, I learned quite a lot from this book and would gladly give it away again.
A pretty solid, if a tad unimaginative, overview of Viking history, society, culture and battles. There are some good images and maps throughout and it gives you enough while not being overwhelming or inaccessible. I could have done with a bit more in some areas but overall it was an enjoyable read.
