Annaliese Ludenhausen loves her robots. More than any man she's ever met. Sometimes, maybe even more than her family. (Shhh. Don't tell.)
And now Annaliese is faced with the biggest professional opportunity of her life. She has three days to find the bug in a game-changing robot before it's presented to her high-ups. Nail the presentation, and she nails the biggest promotion of her life. A big step in a career that she's comparing to her dad's--the Nobel Prize winner.
Three days at her quiet beach cottage by the sea is all she needs to find the bugger. It helps that it's November and the tourists are gone and it's supposed to rain all weekend. It's the perfect setting for Annaliese to embrace her inner hermit and fix the code of her wonky robot.
But when it rains, it pours. Her hippy dippy mother and sister shove their way into her house. A neighborhood dog is purposely terrorizing her. And the neighbor next door is being a jerk.
Matt Stone is the country's number one quarterback, and he's having a huge party. This weekend.
Annaliese can't control her mom and sister, nature, or the neighborhood Cujo, but she tries to reason with Matt Stone. With studies. With kindness. With compromise. Even with a morning serenade.
But Matt has his own problems, and he's not going to budge with doing what he can to distract himself.
Not because he doesn't like his neighbor. Because he does, he really does.
She might actually end up being his favorite distraction of them all.
Sydney Strand has been writing novels for the last nine years. This is her first independently published book. Previously, she wrote young adult novels, written under another name, which were published by a Big Name Publisher.
She currently lives in New England with her husband, children, and two moody cats. She enjoys all that Colonial America has to offer. Namely, craft shows and pie festivals. She hopes to one day enter an apple pie contest because, as she's been told, she has an apple pie recipe to die for. Literally. It has three sticks of butter in it.
You can Friend, Pin, Tweet, or Instagram her, as well as visit her website for her monthly reader contest, Oh Goody, Goody GOODIES!
This was a lot of fun. A light quick read that is engaging and just a tiny bit silly.
Annaliese just wants some peace and quiet. She's got a major project to finish for work (ROBOT PENGUIN!!!) and so buys, what she hopes will be, a nice quiet house overlooking the ocean in a sleepy little town. Unfortunately for her, her lovely little ocean cottage is right next door to football star Matt Stone. And he's up for some partying. Lots of partying. Having her hippy mother and flake sister show up without warning just adds icing to the cake. Annaliese tries to play nice and ask Matt to quiet down, but that backfires because Matt is just not going to budge. Not when it is so much fun getting Annaliese to react.
I enjoy the His Favorite series very much. The heroines are strong, smart, resourceful (ROBOT PENGUIN) females that don't need rescuing. The story moves along quickly and is just silly enough to keep you interested. The humor adds a nice touch without detracting from the romance. The characters are flawed enough to make them believable and keep them from being boring.
I received an ecopy of this book in exchange for a clear and honest review.
Annaleise was wonderful. I loved how she showed up authentically with nothing but her work ethic and integrity. As she interacted with Matt she started expanding her world a little bit at a time. It was so challenging for her to let people into her life and by the end of the novel she was so much more comfortable with herself and her people. Great ending btw!

WHAT PEOPLE ARE SAYING:
Strand has a great talent with making her characters real, but quirky. We all have our funny little idiosyncrasies in real life and she uses those and takes them to a great new level that's perfect for RomCom. -An Awesome Amazon Reviewer
This author is making it on my list. I want to read all of her books! -Another Awesome Amazon Reviewer

I really enjoyed this story. Sydney Strand successfully broke the mold and wrote about a strong, smart heroine who isn't afraid to say what she thinks and a hero, while a hunky football star, who had his own issues to work through. This story kept me up on a weeknight when I should have been sleeping, so the story definitely outweighed the few minor formatting/typo errors that I found. I'm going to be grabbing other titles by this author for sure!
