Beep Beep! Little Ones Will Love "Point & Play: Trash Trucks"
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5 STARS!
"Point & Play: Trash Trucks" by Steven Wood is a huge success! As a mom of three boys, one of whom went through a big garbage truck 🚛 phase, I guarantee that this book is just what tiny truck fans crave. I really wish I had this book back then!
The idea 💡 is very simple: a book that is highly interactive and makes the world of trash trucks come to life. Even though I read the ebook version, I could tell right away that the physical 📖 copy would be the best way to enjoy it. There are buttons to press, virtual trash to crush, cans 🗑️ to move and tilt, and so much more. It's a sensory explosion of delight for young fingers.
What makes this book stand out is that it has an interactive part. It's perfect for engaging young children who thrive on hands-on 🫳 learning and crave that tactile connection with a story. The pictures are also very cute. They are bright and happy and properly show what life is like for these hard-working vehicles.
"Point & Play: Trash Trucks" is a definite recommendation for kids at home and in daycare settings. It's a great approach to mix learning with fun, and any kid who loves these ordinary heroes 🦸 of the road will love it. Get the real thing; you won't regret it!
You have now dropped a book. This is a really clever idea for an interactive item – of course it is on plain card and won't do anything, but if you want you can 'play with' all the controls on the picture of the cabin of a garbage truck, and tip this three times to shake the contents of the bins into the back of the cart. The reason I said this got dropped is that we had to clamp our hands over both ears at the noise of the recycling. And that's a pity, as we'd only just got used to holding books in our young hands, and had been having great fun tracing our route with a finger, and doing this body movement for this and that for that – and now it's on the floor as people didn't judge quite how many hands we had.
Never mind. I'm sure it'll get picked up the next time the garbage truck is on this route. And while that still seems a peculiar choice of subject, being all noisy and grubby and stinky, this is actually a great concept for getting said small hands used to holding and interacting with and having fun with books. So it's actually a great shame we had that accident. If we all bounce back, though, this is a strong four stars.
That was fun book. So interactive. But since I got the e-ARC from NetGalley, it was kinda tricky for my son and I to really do the interactive instructions in this book. But we did what we could and definitely had fun. I will surely buy the physical book so my son and I can fully experience the awesomeness of this book.
This book was so easy to read and my 4 years old son understood every words written in it. My son is always obsessed with garbage truck. Although garbage trucks in Indonesia (where we live) are so much different with the ones in this book but my son still find all kind of garbage trucks are awesome.
The interactive side of this book was so fun yet still educational. I loved that my son voluntarily followed the instructions because he found it fun to do all that stuff.
I already said it but again, I definitely will buy the physical version of this book since my son loves this book so much.
Thank you to Zeitgeist, Steven Wood, Z Kids, and NetGalley for the ARC.
Thank you NetGalley for an advance ebook for my honest opinion. My kid and I really enjoyed this book! The illustrations are great and I love how interactive it is! My 3yo was also excited to interact so much with a book, he loves trash trucks so it helped. I had access to an ebook only but I hope it'll be published as board book (I feel it's too interactive for paperback), and I am hoping there will be some interactive buttons or sensory spots on the double page featuring the inside of the truck for kids to interact even more.
Point & Play: Trash Trucks is a fun, interactive book that’s perfect for toddlers and preschoolers. The colorful illustrations keep little ones engaged while offering plenty of opportunities to practice counting. I especially liked the safety element of pretending to put on gloves(its never too early to think about safety). My grandkids have always been fascinated by big trucks, and this book captures that excitement perfectly. A wonderful choice for young, curious minds!
Thank you to the publisher & NetGalley for providing the ARC to review.
To be honest I really thought this book was going to show kids how to recycle (the kind of trash that goes in each colored bin and that sort of thing), but it was fun anyway. I really liked that it was “interactive” and the illustrations were very nice as well.
Thank you for the ARC. This was a cute interactive book. My son is still learning so couldn’t do everything as instructed but some of it he could. Being interactive, it really held his attention. The illustrations were also well done and bright.
Point and Play: Trash Trucks is such a fun book. My kids love the interactive features which help to keep them more engaged in the story. They can learn so much about trash and trucks in this book. I would highly recommend!
What a fun little book. My three-year-old son loves interactive books, and he loves trash trucks. He is an active child and any way I can integrate reading with movement is a win in my book.
My son and I really enjoyed this book. I loved how the book gets the child to interact with the book and use their imagination. Great for counting and for little ones who love trucks.
Thank you to Zeitgeist for this ARC in exchange for my honest review!
