Joseph fallen:5⭐️ He was an accomplished man in business and in his personal life. Success was gained with the help of his wife who stood by supporting him. Joseph created The Estate for his wife. His wife only wanted a loving husband not the money or the power. Joseph was consumed by his belief that an accomplished man provides for his family with wealth and power. This is the life of Joseph and Arianna and how his wealth and power destroyed everything.
Overall: Joseph’s journey into the dark side was very similar to that of Anakin becoming Dark Vader. Ms. Willis depicted a man obsessed by money and power brilliantly. I felt the force of her words. Abuse is never easy to read, yet Ms. Willis gave the true rawness of her words. These words were chilling at times when faced with the abuse Arianna suffered. All the same these words were needed in order to portray the type of man Joseph had become. While this is Joseph’s transformation from man into monster this is more about Arianna and her reaction to living with a man she no longer recognizes. But make no mistake Joseph doesn’t hide who he has become. He is a proud man of wealth and power and Ms. Willis did a magnificent job of writing his character. All I can say is there is power in words. The words used to describe violence and pain had me quaking in my boots. Emotional words tore me heart apart. I felt all the pain and turmoil. This was a violent driven story full of torture, pain, hopelessness, and evilness. The monster she created is sinister and ruthless in nature. Ms. Willis certainly doesn’t shy away from violent characters. She has written some evil crazy monsters. I’m not even sure this is the most insane character she’s written, but he tops the list.
Madeleine Abducted:5⭐️ Fear not the audience, but the men who call themselves admirers. Aaron has grown into Joseph’s mini evilness. He is an executioner with a thirst for blood, guts, and glory. In Joseph’s quest to train and educate his son to take over the Estate did he create a new type of monster? Madeleine was a musician. Having missed the sound of his mother’s music Aaron admired the beauty and grace of Madeleine’s cello. When he approached her backstage to compliment her performance he had no idea the danger he put her in. An evilness awaits her lurking within the Estate.
Overall:
After reading about Joseph Carmichael I’m buzzing with excitement to find out what type of man Aaron turned out to be. Comparing his behavior and words with his fathers is quite intriguing. Eventhough this was written in the third person perspective the chapters alternated between Aaron and Madeleine’s drawing attention to each characters behaviors and reactions. Madeleine’s character had past scenes threaded within to help develop her character. There’s nothing more satisfying than a female character taking on a male monster character.
I’ve noticed after reading Lily White’s books aka MS Willis that she has the artist talent to blend words within the story. What I mean is that her female character is a musician therefore every part of her character will be wrapped in musical words illustrating how music affects her mind, body, and soul. It’s like her body is carved from the instrument she plays. Ex. ... she sang to his soul through the use of metal and wood. It’s scary how real these emotions feel. MS Willis really captured the essence of fear and pain. I’m not sure if I should be worried by her ability to tap into someone’s psyche like she has. If there’s one thing MS Willis writes well it’s the dark and disturbing storylines. There is no shortage of evilness. MA Willis ability to create these monsters isn’t surprising, but what is surprising is her ability to tap into the emotional side of her characters whether from the evil side or the good side.
It’s an intense read. One where breaks were required. The raw power of words were often difficult to read while other times easy to dismiss. I remind myself these are just words, yet when combined with other words they form a meaning and in its meaning is powerful emotion. This is why I read MS Willis books. This might sound crazy, but I like how MS Willis isn’t afraid to cross into dangerous territory with her characters. She pushes them into the deep end with no hope in sight. Yet they persevere with anger and vengeance as a means to survive. You might question why I continued to read knowing the intensity of the pain and torture. I felt if Madeleine could endure the pain and torture and come out a survivor then I too could honor her story by reading it in its entirety. Heed her warning for this is a dark, intense read with very graphic sexual content. Definitely not for the faint of heart or those with triggers.
Hope restrained 3⭐️
Once raised as the executioner, Aaron has taken the reigns in The Estate for which he had been groomed. The Estate is more than just a network; it’s evil incarnate — a living, breathing part of the man who created it. It is as much Joseph’s child as Aaron, and even after Joseph’s death, it continues to teem with the corruption he spread. Aaron and Xander continue to bring down the network Joseph built. It’s been two years since Aaron took over The Estate.
As for Madeleine she is still trapped by The Estate, but she chose to remain there with Aaron.
When a bright young woman is raised in a criminal environment she learns from the beginning the best way to survive men in the network is to become a trained killer. When her sister was abducted she went after the one man who controls The Estate.
Overall: I wondered where MS Willis would take us next after delivering two exceptional books about a father and son duo of evil monsters. I was surprised when I read Hopes name. I thought is this Madeleine and Aaron’s kid? Nope the last name is wrong. So then who trained Hope in the network?
MS Willis is brutally honest, raw, and unforgivable in expressing the pain and torment her characters experience. MS Willis writes these dark taboo stories where the reader questions the grey areas of evilness. A choice between atrocity and the unthinkable while offering very little hope for survival.
This might be the first time MS Willis graced us readers with a female villain. The sex scenes were once again graphically provocative and violent. Although, I didn’t care for how easily Xander took Hope. It’s becoming quite common for the men in The Estate to conquer a woman with their cock. I had higher hopes for Hope’s character. For crying out loud she’s a trained killer, yet the touch of one guy and she melts like butter. I’m not connecting with Hope or Xander’s characters. Something is different about them. They are missing that dementedness that Joseph and Aaron had. Her words didn’t line up with what her body was saying. I grew tired quickly with this book. It lacks the emotional turmoil and torture the previous two books provided. All the action was limited to the ending. When I learned that the female character was a trained killer I compared her to Aaron’s skills thinking she would be as thrilling as him.
I should be ecstatic that this is a lighter read after reading the previous two books which were heavy with violence and torture. But I’m not.
Amazing Series! Just when you think you have read everything possible, along comes this series. What a rollercoaster ride!! Absolutely loved Joseph Fallen, it really hit all the points of being a wonderful, emotional, gut wrenching story... Then came Madeline Abducted, beautiful well written story... Followed up with Hope Restrained which I liked but really felt it wasnt as well written at the first 2 books. With that being said, still loved this series and cant wait for the next book to be released!!!
This is an extremely dark read!! Violence, Drugs, Explicit content, R¥pe just to name a few. Book one This book starts out as the perfect fairytale, but little by little changes into a person's worst night mare. Joseph makes the big bad wolf look like a cuddly teddy bear. The author writes these books in the third person which suits this series perfect to get insight to all the inside plotting in the characters head. This book tells us how The Estate and it's legacy of pure evil and destruction came about. It can be read as a stand alone, but the writing style draws the reader in so much you'll want more. Book two. Madeleine Abducted This book pretty much picks up where book one left off with the cleverness not to leave a reader clueless as to what is happening with each person. The build up to the main characters Aaron and Maddy makes you feel like you are watching these love/hate sparks fly. You just get pulled into their story and feel all the hurt, angst, anger and heartbreak along the way. Maddy is the type of heroine I love to read. She's starts off as timid, but the inner strength and character growth has you rooting for her. This book can be read as a stand alone, but you'll want more. Book three It starts off some time after the events of book two, but can also be read as a stand alone. This is more of our characters that have made it through the last two books, I don't want to say names and give away who makes it through the daily Hell of living in The Estate. This book isn't half as brutal as the last two, but make no mistake it's still dark! I literally fell in love with these characters and can't wait for book four. As of the time of my review isn't out til spring of 2015. I would highly recommend this series. 5* for all three books
12/14/15 - Enjoyed this series very much. The plot was fairly convoluted (in a good way), and one of the darkest of the dark. So, just because you enjoy dark reads, you must be able to handle the extremely cruel actions of an crazed man.
Joseph starts out a man full of promise, clearly one of great intelligence who will succeed. He marries a woman, Ariana, who he loves and cherishes. But what happens when chosen profession involves criminal activity? Success is success--he becomes a successful leader of criminal activity. As his success becomes progressively more demanding, he uses the drugs he traffics to keep up its demands, all the while alienating his wife. The drugs make him paranoid and he is both, creative and outragiously cruel with the punishments he inflicts upon others who transgress against him. With his paranoia and concern for retaliation, he assigns a bodyguard, Connor, to Ariana. Ariana ends up spending more time with Connor than Joseph. They get to know each other and, in time an intimate relationship develops and they fall in love. Ariana gets pregnant and she and Connor decide the baby, whether Connor's or Joseph's, cannot be raised in the "mansion."
12/14/15 - Enjoyed this series very much. The plot was fairly convoluted (in a good way). The original H (Joselph) became crazed and subsequently, overly paranoid which worsenee after catching his wife and right-hand man when they were trying to run away together. She ended up having to shoot her lover--the better better opyion over bring drawn & quartered. Eventually, Joaeph is

If you have a love of the depraved and emotionally devoid than this series is for you. It is delightful. So ruthless and gorey you cannot believe the antics going on at The Estate. The first 2 books are by at better than the third. The third seemed rushed and chopped together in comparison to the first, almost as if the author struggled with the direction of the story. However, the attention to detail with which this author writes and builds her characters and scenes is unreal. I can see every thing that is occurring in my minds eye. Well done. I can't wait to read honors book!
one of the best box sets ive ever read wow could i hate a character anymore than Joseph i don't think so he is evil and twisted also seriously depraved his poor wife these books will have you hooked i don't want to say to much about what goes on as these really are a must read i cant believe i had them in my kindle so long before reading them .so if you like the books darker like me then you wont be disappointed fantastic read mahoosive 5* read loved them
I'd been meaning to read these books for a while, saw the trilogy and grabbed it. I love dark reads so this was perfect for me. Dark and disturbing. MS Willis gets in to the mind of a man gone mad and what he leaves behind during his reign of terror. Madeleine abducted was my favorite of the three. I'm glad to see there is more to come. I have a few things I need answered!
Wow...interesting that something so dark can be written. Amazingly done in the portrayal of darkness and light. We all need someone to balance the dark in us. I loved Aaron and Xander's story. Interesting that Xander is the light to Hope's darkness. Xander has the touch of dark in him but he is able to ground Aaron and Hope. What an amazing story!
This boxed set is dark, violent, and contains characters that are not perfect, however it's hard to put down. Definitely not for sensitive readers since many scenes are very disturbing. All three books are equally good.
I read all of these as they came out. If you are a lover of dark reads, like I am... than this is a MUST READ! M.S. Willis is amazing at writing the dark! Loved every word!!!
The first book was the darkest of the three. I didn't get drawn into the series like I had hoped. It looks like this series isn't over though and will continue. It was an okay read overall and I will most likely stop after this box set.
