Eva Eland is a Dutch author and illustrator who lives in England. She earned an MA with distinction in children’s book illustration from the Cambridge School of Art, and has also studied at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy and the School of Visual Arts in New York.
When Sadness Comes to Call is her first picture book. Eva grew up in Delft, Netherlands, and now lives in Cambridge with her fiancé.
I received an ARC of this book for my honest opinion.
Oh, what authors can do with only a few colors and pages. This book starts out as another cat aloof book but turns into how to play respectfully with pets, especially those that are not your own. I love that the pet in question is a cat, not only because I love cats, but because they often get a bad rap for hiding when people come over and not being “friendly” like dogs. It all depends on the personality of the cat and the lifestyle they are used to. A great book to introduce kids to pets and how to treat them with care.
