You naughty girl!

Paul wakes up early, his son Billy soon after. Annie is not a morning person, not even a people’s person really, but she loves sleeping with Paul every night. She also learned to enjoy young Billy’s company, even likes him a lot lately, maybe too much.

My second Weir and really looking forward to the next! Maybe not so wowing as The Egg but still pretty awesome. Enjoyed it quite a lot, deserving a special place among my best of short literature.

Sadly I can’t say more without spoiling much of the story’s content so I’m just going to say that it’s definitely memorable and more than worth the five minutes it takes to read it. Recommendable!

It’s free. You can find it HERE.

PERSONAL NOTE :

★★★★☆ Annie's Day [3.5]
★★★☆☆ The Egg [3.5]

¡Chica traviesa!

¡Recomendable!

Es gratis, lo pueden encontrar ACA.

After all the intense thrillers I've read recently, I have to say that this provided a delightful interlude. It's a very short story, but Andy Weir still manages to come up with an amusing little twist at the end.

This is Andy Weir's short story that he has posted on his web site. Normally I would feel guilty including a "book" this short on my list. Yet, today was one of those days where I didn't even have five minutes to sit and read. A few friends recommended it so I thought why not.
This short story can be read in five minutes. The beginning paragraphs had my mind thinking not so good things. The ending two sentences have a twist that made me laugh. This short piece of writing demonstrates that Weir is a good writer, so I will have to add more of his books to my list.

it's better than the other short stories i've read from him, at least, but it's still a low three for me.

there's not much to "review" - it's another one of his stories where the degree of your readerly appreciation hinges on how delighted you are by its twist ending. and since i'd already guessed the ending because of who and what i am, my delight was greyish-beige with a hint of tangerine.

the amount of unusual erotica i have read in the name of laffter and science has deadened me a bit to the parts some other readers found so scandalous, so that wasn't a problem for me, but it is a little cheaty in places, .

however, that toddler-scene was perfect, right down to its across-the-lawn exit scene.

i love twists in general, so i'll keep reading these whenever people put 'em in front of me (thanks to TL for this one), and i hope i find one i really really like. bring it, weir!

When I first saw this pop up on my feed yesterday I was all . . . .

Let’s face facts - I haven’t had much success with Andy Weir shorties in the past. But then I logged on this morning and errrrrrryone was reading the damn thing and I’m nothing but a lemming so I jumped off the cliff with my friends because . . .

Palm Springs commercial photography

So what did I think? To quote the extensive vocabulary of one Donald Drumpf, I thought it was “amazing” and “pretty great.” This is obviously the exception that proves the rule, I guess, when it comes to me hating Weir’s little tidbits of writing. So much cringe-worthy fun wrapped up in such a small little package. Oh, and to you Annie??????

Yep. I just slut shamed a fictional character. Annie was a smelly pirate hooker and she deserves it. Don’t like it?????

Okay, so this story is basically one big build-up for a funny punchline at the end.

This whole thing was obviously pretty weird (and also might not have even fully made sense), but the twist was surely very fun and surprising.

I just feel like this is one of those stories that will make you simultaneously face-palm, shake your head and reluctantly chuckle.

10 Whopping Stars!

I never thought in a million years that my first 2016 super-favorite read would be a super-short tale.....

OMG......It starts off SICK. SICK. SICK. and gets even SICKER......but then........

HAHAHAHAHA........OMG........HAHAHAHAHA. I ABSOLUTELY DID NOT SEE THIS COMING! I AM STILL CRACKING UP! MY FACE HURTS!

A big thank you to Andy Weir! I really needed a good (free) laugh and a pick me up!

Annie is woken up by the man lying next to her in bed, which annoys her. It’s early in the morning on a Saturday and she’s not a morning person.

So the next night, she decides to sleep in another bed.

It’s a lovely and cozy little story. If you’re looking for something very short and sweet that can put a smile on your face, this is not a bad choice. And thanks to quite a few of my Goodreads friends for putting this story on my radar.

In a Nutshell: Quick and cute!

The titular Annie, in her first person narration, gives us a glimpse of her day with Paul and Billy.

As this is a short story with a surprise ending, I won't reveal much. You ought to experience it for yourself.

I did guess where the plot was going because I have seen a similar trope being used a couple of times in other short stories, but that didn't decrease my enjoyment of this tale.

Annie, Paul and Billy all are great characters, especially considering that we have just about 3 pages to get to know them.

Definitely worth a read. You won't require more than 5 minutes to complete it.

4.25 stars.

Thanks to Tina and Federico for such compelling reviews that I felt like reading this right away. It's nice to end the day with a smile.

Leaving you with golden words by Annie:
If a woman is asleep, let her sleep.
Sage advice, and given a strong stamp of approval by me.

Geeze Louise. This was short and packed a punch. My humour and disdain were both building with equal pleasure. Short stories are great, prime example right here!

Oh boy, I LOVED IT!

This was so lovely and so funny. The author totally amazed me. The ending left me with my mouth hanging open; I was so stunned, seriously. As soon as I finished this short story, I started re-reading it again, and this time, I couldn't help but laugh out loud. So hilarious! Damn, I love Andy Weir!

I don't know why exactly everyone is reading this sweet little story today, more than four years after its initial publication, but after already being so late to "The Martian" (which I didn't even like), it seemed only fair to read this one now among with everyone else. It will take you three minutes to read and one of the twists is absolutely hilarious, so you won't regret anything if you read it. You can do so here.

Sometimes I just have no sense of humor*, you know? Definitely not what I wanted to read in the morning. Gross.
