The Langley Sisters Trilogy

Rate this book
The Eldest Langley - Lady In Disguise.
To save her family from ruin, Miss Olivia Langley is forced into a dangerous charade – pulling on a disguise, she takes to the road as a highwayman. Disaster strikes when she robs the one man she had hoped never to see again. Five years ago Lord William Ryder broke Livvy's heart. Now he has returned, and she fears that if anyone can succeed at unmasking her deepest secrets, it will be him.

The Middle Langley - Lady In Demand.
Miss Phoebe Langley doesn't fit into society. She’s willful and outspoken. Oh, and not only is she in business, she once earned her living as a highwayman. Not the type of scandalous behavior appropriate for a debutante. She shouldn't care what people think about her, especially the stuffy Viscount Finneous Levermarch, but she does, and even worse, she soon realizes she has feelings for him.

The Youngest Langley - Lady In Distress
Isabella was the Langley sister everyone overlooked. Injured in the same accident that killed her parents, pain had become a constant part of her life, forcing her to observe from the sidelines. But now, after several months in a Scottish Clinic, she is no longer the same woman. Determined to take charge of her life and set her dreams in motion, she goes after the only man she has ever loved: Luke Fletcher, a man not born into her world but the only one she has ever wanted.

I have a weakness for Wendy Vella's books! I quite like Langley Sisters. They have gumption, sense of humor and inner strength. Their respective partners are typical lords of their time - dashing, smart and enterprising. There were some editing errors but they didn't stop me from enjoying the stories. Fun, quick paced and mildly steamy historical romance!

I had hoped to enjoy this series, but it was not meant to be. The first book started out to be good enough to overlook the minor editing flaws, and I figured the other books would be good too.

The second book was a veritable cornucopia of editing errors and lacked consistency. A marquess became a viscount. One of the sisters had her eyes go from cinnamon (as they were described in the first book) to green to lilac, and her hair went from red-gold to blond. Then there was a confusing part where the main character switched names... and similar thing happened in the last book.

The third book was not as bad as the second. There were only a few errors in this one. The sister that had dyed her hair and used colored contacts went back to her original looks, so that made me happy. This book actually had me laugh a few times. Though, for me, it was too redundant.

I really wanted to like this, but I won't be recommending it to anyone... unless you don't mind all the errors.

Entertaining series

If you can put aside the historical inaccuracies and the atrocious spelling/grammar/editing in this book, you'll find some entertaining stories with strong, feisty heroines and stronger men (except when it comes to their women. For them, these men are pushovers, and isn't that the way it should be?)

Livvy's story was the best of the three, in my opinion. I understand that there is a 4th story in this series, starring Lady Althea and Ace. I would have liked to see Hannah and Alex get a story as well.

A lovely book series but I was not impressed by the lack of decent editing on the eBooks-the reason for less stars. If it is an Indy Author they need to be exceptionally careful to do it right and if it is done via a publishing house them shame on them for giving their writer less than their best.

I binged these three books, they were very hard to put down (and I still went and got book4!) The stories were so different to your normal, proper, English society where everyone has to follow the rules. This family was rule breaker and they weren't afraid to mingle with people that were "lower" than them. I loved the very protective heroes and the independent heroines ready to fight for what they want.
You'll find action, adventure and suspense in this historical romance bundle. There are explicit scenes, so watch out for them (I skipped them, not my thing). It's fast paced, easy read (except for all the typos, I was ticked about that, but luckily the stories had gripped me enough to let it slide).

A cute Regency romance. Predictable. Better than some, but definitely not Bridgerton quality. The author desperately needs an editor who knows nuances of grammar and spelling. The general intros of each book into the series were a little rough, particularly if meant to stand alone. Not a bad yarn to read a at night, but the errors and mistakes were distracting.

Nothing too heavy here, but entertaining. I'd give the first two books four stars, and the second three.

#1 Lady in disguise

This is a prideful woman that goes to extreme lengths to protect her sisters. Unfortunately, she seems to overlook those that have been friends to her family for years.
He, on the other hand, left, five years ago, to find himself. He did that, and now has come back to re-establish himself with those he left behind. Some take longer to forgive him, than others.
Intriguing look at various people's perspective of happenings.

#2 Lady in demand

Just by her natural beauty, women hated her, and men lusted for her.
He, straight laced and unemotional, had seen her, and wanted her. But, then found that she spoke her mind, and that didn't fit with his idea of a perfect wife.
However, both were to find that what seemed their biggest irritation, was in fact, their deepest desire.
I loved the cat and mouse chase that seems to occur here.

#3 Lady in Distress

In previous episodes we learnt of the accident that had injured Bella's leg. Now, we find her being taken to Scotland, to a clinic to try to correct the problem, that is causing her so much pain.
Off course, Luke Fletcher, best friend and adventurer with Will, is also the long time love of Bella.
However, him being a commoner and her being a Lord's daughter, well, in this story's time period, it just not acceptable.
Yeah... hurdles to jump, but it's a hell of a ride...
Great read!

Hmmmmmmm

Having been on a reading binge of all the historical romance in Wendy Vella’s catalogue, and having only this series to finish them all, I have to say the following; I always enjoy this authors work, the men are strong, handsome, gallant, and noble as the ladies are strong, beautiful, and wilful. But this book I found lacking. It wasn’t the story, nor was it our hero, no, for the first time I found the heroine disappointing.
Bella was not what I had hoped she would be.
Her choice and reason for wanting to enter society was weak in the face of putting off what she could have.

I won’t go into detail as I personally hate spoilers so I won’t leave them for others, for me this book was a long into to Ace.

Not quite what I expect from Wendy Vella...

There are a handful of authors I will pick up eagerly, as I know the stories will be well-written, complex, and impeccably edited. Until this book, I would have placed Wendy Vella on that list.

Here, I found myself wondering if an editor was even involved. All three books were full of punctuation errors--extraneous commas, missing commas, and nonsensical apostrophes to make family names possessive instead of plural--to say nothing of the number of weirdly inappropriate homonyms ("the PLAINS of his body," really?!)

The stories themselves weren't the problem but the sloppy inattention to the editing certainly detracted from my enjoyment. 🙁

LADY IN DISGUISE
An engaging second chance romance. Olivia doesn't want a hero but Will does his best to help and protect and win her back. Olivia and her reformed rake make their way to a wonderful happily ever after.

LADY IN DEMAND
An enjoyable story and engaging characters. Finn and Phoebe are a good pairing and make their way to a wonderful journey to love.

LADY IN DISTRESS
A beautiful heart felt romance. Isabella and Luke are from different classes but their love is undeniable. A wonderful story, enjoyable to read how they overcome their struggles and societal prejudice to have the love and life they deserve.

I absolutely enjoyed reading about each of the Langley Sisters and their journey to love and happiness. Their stories were compelling and each woman was strong willed in their own way and faced many challenges. The men they choice to fall in love with were the kind of men we hope to find ourselves. I loved the sense of family and the way they supported each other and those closest to them.

I agree with other reviewers that there were quite a bit of editing flaws but it did not take away from my enjoyment. I love this author and look forward to reading more of her books.

Wonderful captivating

These three stories have been a wonderful adventure. And if your too ate up with every word and every comma being correct then you are really missing out on three sisters wonder adventures. These books were full of love and they each made you feel good after you was done. The author did a great job and should be proud. I will go purchase the others in this series.

Enchanting

I wonderful way to read the stories of the langley sisters in these two 3 book series offered by the author. You'll meet the sisters and all their friends as they find their loves for lifetime in different and unique situations, often with intrigue as part of the plots. They're blessed with the love of strong and dedicated men whose desires are to fill their lives with families and joy.

Three great romances from Wendy Vella

Books 1-3 are wonderfully entwined stories about three sisters that are all strong but different. The men they end of falling in love with are also strong and very close friends. Each couple has their own story of falling in love amidst sensational situations and issues amongst the regency period of have and have not in regard to those of "high birth" versus regular people of that period. Never a dull moment in any of their stories.

Langley Sisters are smart, strong, sexy

This really reads like one book with each of the sisters taking on a tall, handsome man. I read all three books in three days because I just couldn’t put it down! I like how the friends support each other regardless of class. The elegant balls reminded me of high school, which was not a good thing. I am reading the next book in this series right now.

What a GEM!!! I am right now on a spree of reading books that are bundle in a series so when this was mark 0.99 I grabbed it. I loved each book of this series and I was happy when I found out that she written a book about Lady Althea. I would love for her to write about Viscount Finn's twin brother's and Phoebe's friend and business partner Hannah.

This is three novels in a trilogy about 3 sisters who search for love over a 2-3 years span. Olivia’s Story with Lord Will Ryder is the most interesting, with Phoebe’s story with Lord Finn Levermarch being the most fun! The third story of Bella and Luke is the most predictable and least interesting, though I had to finish it. Hence the three star rating.

Very good series

I actually liked this series and would have given it more stars but the errors were just too much to ignore. All 3 stories had errors, especially with commas. The last one had the most, it seemed, as well as lots of incorrect names, using him for her and vice versa. It got very confusing for the story.

A enjoyable trilogy

Three feisty women and three strong men, work their way through lives ups and downs. Highways or highway women wielding guns and robbing folk just to survive. Family siblings and miscommunication, business dealings, these tales have it all. A good weekend read
