Flameborn: Book One Of The Flamekeeper Saga

Rate this book
Flameborn is a lyrical and speculative fantasy about memory, identity, and the scars that shape us.

Do our memories and our experiences make us who we are or do we shape them?

Imagine if we carried the weight of past lives every lesson, every mistake, every love?

Consider if someone could edit those memories to serve their own design?

Eshan is a boy who remembers parts of lives he’s lived before. Moments of his past lives are returning one by one, each bearing echoes of love, loss, and choices that haunt him.

As his memories awaken through visions of his past lives, Eshan must learn how to process what he knows. His village fears him and his memories isolate him. His only companion is the shard that pulses inside him and grants him strange abilities he can’t yet control.

Ultimately, Eshan is exiled for the truths he carries and the powers he cannot contain. He wanders a young and untamed world, alone. But even in solitude, his search for place and meaning leads him to unlikely friendships and a sense of purpose. Along the way, he discovers a fellow traveler who is convinced that pain has no place in memory, and who is building a new world—one that is edited, clean, and false.

Is memory better without pain, or do we need our scars to be whole?

Flameborn is the beginning of a mythic saga that explores the power of memory—and those who would protect its truth.

About the author

A.T. Lawrence is what happens when a lifelong story lover grows up obsessed with cosmic sagas, haunted swords, time-traveling scientists, and morally complicated space captains. A fan of all things epic—whether on a battlefield, a starship, or a fourth-quarter comeback—he brings that same passion to his writing.
He’s the father of three grown adult children who know better than to challenge him in trivia or story-driven video games (unless they want a lecture on narrative arcs). A fan of big emotions, ancient mysteries, and modern TV shows that emotionally destroy you, A.T. believes that story is memory’s most powerful weapon—and laughter is its shield.
When he’s not writing, he’s gaming, binge-watching series with suspiciously high body counts, rewatching his favorite films, or getting way too emotionally invested in whatever game is on—especially if it goes to overtime.
He grew up with cleats on his feet and a controller in his hands, and to this day still believes a well-run two-minute drill is as elegant as any plot twist.
Fun Facts:
Once paused a playoff game to write down a character beat. It was worth it.
Can still out-shoot most people at the three-point line.
Thinks music playlists should come with lore.
Believes you don’t really know a person until you’ve co-op’d a boss battle with them.
Writes literary fiction with a fantasy soul, or maybe the other way around.

Flameborn is his first published novel. But the story’s been with him for lifetimes.
