काव्यारोहण [Kavyaarohan]

"काव्यारोहण" आरोहण विराटनगरले सञ्चालन गरेको कवितावाचन शृङ्खला "काव्यारोहण : आरोहण कवितायात्रा..." को पहिलो शृङ्खलामा वाचन गर्नुभएका बाह्र जना कविहरूका कवितामध्ये प्रत्येकका पाँच/पाँचवटा कविताको सङ्कलन हो ।

प्रत्येक महिना एउटा अनुक्रम सम्पन्न गर्ने गरी योजना गरिएको "काव्यारोहण : आरोहण कवितायात्रा..." को पहिलो शृङ्खला वि.सं. २०७६ साल मङ्सिर ७ गते (November 23, 2019) मा आरम्भ भएको थियो । कोरोना भाइरस महामारीका कारण स्थगन गर्नुपर्ने स्थिति सिर्जना भएकाले नियमित हुन नपाएको सो पहिलो शृङ्खला बाह्र वटा अनुक्रम पूरा गरी २०७९ साल असार ४ मा सम्पन्न भएको थियो ।

उक्त पहिलो शृङ्खलामा कविहरू बैरागी काइँला, तुलसी दिवस, बम देवान, मोमिला, मनप्रसाद सुब्बा, तीर्थ श्रेष्ठ, कुन्ता शर्मा, सुमन पोखरेल, श्रवण मुकारुङ, बद्री भिखारी, मञ्जु काँचुली र भूपाल राईले आ–आफ्ना कविता प्रस्तुत गर्नुभएको थियो।यो कृति सोही पहिलो शृङ्खलामा कविहरूले वाचन गर्नुभएका प्रतिनिधि कविताहरूको सङ्कलन हो ।

"Kavyarohan" is an anthology of poems selected from the first series of the poetry recitation program titled "Kavyarohan: Aarohan Poetry Journey..." organized by Aarohan Biratnagar. This volume features five poems each by twelve distinguished poets who participated in the inaugural series.

Launched on 7 Mangsir 2076 B.S. (November 23, 2019), the program was envisioned as a monthly series of poetry sessions. However, the COVID-19 pandemic disrupted its regular schedule. Despite these challenges, the first series—comprising twelve sessions—was successfully concluded on 4 Asar 2079 B.S. (June 18, 2022).

The poets featured in this series are: Bairagi Kainla, Tulasi Diwasa, Bam Dewan, Momila, Manprasad Subba, Tirtha Shrestha, Kunta Sharma, Suman Pokhrel, Shrawan Mukarung, Badri Bikhari, Manju Kanchuli, and Bhupal Rai.
This collection brings together a carefully curated selection of representative works recited by these poets during the first chapter of "Kavyarohan", capturing a meaningful journey through the landscape of contemporary Nepali poetry.

About the author

Suman Pokhrel is a Nepali poet, lyricist, playwright, translator and artist. His poems have been translated into various languages and are appeared in notable journals worldwide. His theatrical and lyrical works have been performed in USA and in some countries of Asia and Europe.

Suman Pokhrel's poetry has been incorporated into the language and literature curricula at two universities in Nepal and four academic institutions in India. His original Nepali poem Taj Mahal ra Mero Prem (“The Taj Mahal and My Love”) is included in the undergraduate syllabus at Purbanchal University, Nepal. The English translation of his poem Standing in the Market is part of the B.Ed. program at Tribhuvan University. His poem You are as You are (English version) is taught in the M.A. English programs at Kerala University, G.D. Goenka University, and Mar Ivanios College (Autonomous) in India. Additionally, the English translation of Taj Mahal ra Mero Prem, titled The Taj Mahal and My Love, is included in the B.A. curriculum at Cauvery College for Women (Autonomous), India.

Suman Pokhrel has translated and published works of more than one hundred writers and poets from around the world into Nepali, English, Hindi and Urdu languages. He has eight books in his credit including three books of translation.

Suman Pokhrel has received numerous national and international awards and honors. Among his international accolades, he was honored in 2023 with the Asia's Inspiring Poet Award by Asia Award and the Shaluk International Literature Award from Shaluk Literary Magazine in Dhaka, Bangladesh. He was also recognized as the Author of the Month by Spillwords Press in New York, USA, for June 2023 and again for May 2025. Previously, his contributions were acknowledged with the SAARC Literary Award in 2013 and again in 2015, making him the only individual to receive this prestigious honor twice.
