Lannon Sunshield and his friends have found a new home--the dreary, cursed tower known as Ollanhar where the Dark Watchmen once dwelt. They vow to restore and defend the ancient keep, even as an old enemy returns stronger than ever and creatures of darkness close in on them. Meanwhile, King Verlamer continues to expand his colossal, brutal empire, and Dremlock Kingdom remains his primary target. Yet the key to Dremlock's survival may exist in distant lands.
Robert E. Keller is a fantasy writer and the author of the Knights Series. Previously a short fiction writer with many published stories to his credit, he turned his attention to novels in 2011 and has never looked back.
Robert was born in Northern Michigan and still lives there with his wife Tracy. He had a very active imagination from the time he was old enough to become self aware, and he would invent elaborate fantasy and science fiction stories in his mind. It was only natural for him to begin spending much of his time crafting short stories and novels on the computer screen. Many of the ideas in those tales were discovered on long walks through the woods.
Story idea - great! Virtually no plot development or character background. Very stilted and hard to read - continuity non-existent. Hoping book 2 in series is better.
I am very sad to find so many inconsistencies in this book. The introduction of other characters whilst entertaining felt somewhat boring, since they were never mentioned before. The Sacred Laws those knights seem to proclaim to devote themselves to are applied at random and inconsistently. My biggest upset is the lack of character development. Instead of Lannon slowly finding his feet, he behaves like an insecure teenager with a minor crush on his overly nasty elven commander. The structure and the organisation of their little group seems to degenerate at every opportunity. I have the other two books of the trilogy and I hope that they will get better.
I consider this book to be a good read but a light read... enjoyed the creativity in regard to the multitude of different goblins... I expect better grammar and spelling.... mistakes, even minor ones, pull me out of the book and back to reality......
Characters squabbles lack depth of character and seem childish. Very irritating to read. Mr. Keller should forget about profit and strive to take the time to fully develop his plots.
I like the books with these characters but they also remind me of the Star Wars series. ,with knights both good and evil using swords. The main character is a lot like Luke Skywalker. The only thing missing is technology. With that being said I enjoy the books very much.
