More From A Nurse's Life: More drama, love and laughter from a 1950s nurse
In this sequel to the much-loved A Nurse's Life, Jane Grant continues the story of her nursing career in the early 1950s. Jane, Mary and Phyllis, are faced with challenges both on and off the wards. The young nurses must grow up fast as they take on new roles and responsibilites. Romance is in the air, but there is also heartache with the discovery of two unlikely love rivals. Headstrong Jane discovers that sometimes pride comes before a fall. An incident leads her to question whether a nurse's life is really for her. More From A Nurse’s Life is an entertaining and touching account of an earlier time, when society's attitudes and trials were very often different from our own.

Reading the first part of Jane Grant’s memoir on my kindle, I was into a preview of this second book before I knew it - and had to download it to read on. Putting failed romances behind them, Jane and Mary now work as staff nurses at St Bernard’s (Not it’s real name?) and gain more experience - in Jane’s case, learning the demanding skills of a theatre nurse, whilst Mary starts work in Casualty, where she finds nights particularly demanding. Meanwhile, their friend, Phyllis, is away training as a midwife - and it is perhaps here, in particular, that the changes in medical practice are most obvious. Romance and hospital gossip lurk round the edges of this account of 1950s nursing - and the whole book is an engaging light read.

these are nice and keep me interested. I enjoy the books about nurses back in the 50's to 70's
