Flight is an urban fantasy romance set in our world but all the humans have bird-like wings that allow them to fly. I loved the way the author incorporated wings into body language and friendly / intimate moments. They truly felt like part of the characters, giving them both advantages and disadvantages rather than just being an interesting accessory.
One of the protagonists, Ion, dealt with anxiety and PTSD due to family issues, and this was handled exceptionally well (speaking as someone who has experienced similar trauma). Ion's mannerisms and speech were so realistic they made me tear up, wanting to reach right in and give him a hug. Thankfully, his love interest, Khar, was one step ahead, giving him exactly what he needed. Ion and Khar were so sweet together! Their backstories were woven into the present storyline really well, and finding out who they really were and are... Wow. I enjoyed the unique mythology combined with the locations and cultures of our world.
This is the second book by PS Shai I've read (the first being Red Green Blue). I highly recommend this author, especially if you enjoy slow-burn romance and mythology!
