What a great collection, and although I've read Dorothy F. Shaw before, the others were new to me! There are no spoilers in my review, you know the fun theme - so I won't rehash it. I did receive an Advanced Reader Copy.
Made for Two: Kim Carmichael This is the first Sci-Fi themed book I read ever! Though, let me be clear, it is NOT that theme! The author did a great job in describing what was happening and the story and it moved pretty quick. I found myself thinking: hmmm, what would I do in THAT situation, which of course, I had to know what might happen next. You'll be cheering and have clammy hands (Oh, you'll know those parts) There's one thing for sure, I will never look at PB & J the same way again!
Darkest Dreams - Solera Winters I struggled with one certain scene, which is clearly identified as how I interpreted as. Honestly, if that encounter had happened in a different way, I would have enjoyed this little story a little more. I couldn't get past it to appreciate the rest. The author did a good job to identify it as such, discuss it, and get over it. (I just need a little longer!) The characters were well written to respond like they did, since I as a reader, interpreted it like that! (I know this is ambiguous, but I don't want to spoil...) That being typed, the reader totally gets the romance of the night, I believe in a certain mythology, so that storyline had me turn the pages faster. Plus you'll be breathing faster too as you read those pages. I feel like this story could be a longer book, it seems like there is more to the characters backstory, but you get a good glimpse in this short story.
A Perfect Fit- Sascha Illyvich This is what I expect of a short story - where the story can explain characters, and the story is about a certain event in that characters life. Again, no spoilers, this story focused on that event, and provided me a conclusion. It was a fun little pleasant (very pleasant - wink wink) read throughout their journey. I'm glad the author didn't go with what I consider the "popular way" to go, so I am very satisfied with the direction he did take the story. I would definitely buy another of this author's books!
Playtime - Dorothy F Shaw This author is the reason I read this set! I am a fan of this author's style and her storylines, and love her other work. This short was not just what I expected, but even more! She even has a "full disclosure" and she completely delivers to what she warns the reader about. I get a kick how she keeps it real - even if a character is paranormal! (No spoilers on the little ways she does it) This was my favorite of the 5. I like books that grab my attention so much that I read a line and end up gasping or commenting out loud... and this one did just that - a few times. I also thought the story/conclusion would go a certain route - and nope, it went even better! I'll definitely be reading it again.
Ménage by Monday - Louisa Bacio This is another story from this set, I would read as a full book. The "weekend" concept was great to make this a short story, and the chapters broken up by: Fri, Sat and Sun - so you knew the weekend was ending!!! (NOOOOO!!) I felt myself wanting more (ha, who doesn't) But I think there was too much history to bring to the present and provide the context of what happens in one weekend and it felt a little rushed. I'm a reader who is a sucker for the small details (music playing, movie/tv watched, food eaten, wine drank) and there was one detail that I seriously want to know MORE ABOUT!! This is NOT critical at all to the story or it's conclusion, just something I picked up, and can't let go!
Overall - 5 stars - from a theme perspective - all the authors knocked it out of the park! Great Job!!
This is a set of five short erotic stories that cover multiple genres. Because of the multiple stories and the fear of making this review to long, I have taken each one and given you a few sentences of my overall feelings about the book and the characters names. I was hoping that would give you enough information to know what the trio was made up of and a little bit about the characters as you consider buying this set. I highly recommend it if you love quick erotic reads that will leave you sizzling and begging for mercy. Made For Two by Kim Carmichael Earthlings Markov Gauss, Pilot for the North American Space Coalition on Earth and Pell Perrin, Mission Specialist who was serving with Markov, were taken four months ago by Trevini from Mersenne. The sex was hot and the dynamics of getting her Earthlings to admit their attraction and treat her as she wants to be treated was entertaining. There is a plot to this story that was interesting to watch unfold but I have to say I was not feeling the whole sci-fi theme surrounding it.
Darkest Dreams by Solera Winters Nyx left Kiernan and fled their bed in hopes that the change of environment would prevent her from the continuing death she felt inside of her. When Reve entered the story things started really heating up as Nyx and Kiernan had begun to find their way back together. I really did enjoy this story, the plot was more humanistic and kept me highly interested yet a little disturbed but I am sure you will figure out the questionable part when you read it and form your own opinion.
A Perfect Fit by Sascha Illyvich Ivanka was a beautiful woman inside and out. Raised by parents whose lives were ruled by greed, Ivanka was more into saving lions and changing the world to make it a better place. She had two lovers Lila who taught yoga to senior citizens and Jesse who was an accountant. There is a real life element to this book regarding her parents not accepting her choice of lovers. The sex was HOT, the passion between the three was strong.
Playtime by Dorothy F Shaw RayAnne and Kyra dance at a high end gentlemen’s club in Hollywood as a team for many years. They are vampires and they structure their routines around the vampire theme. After turning down his request many times, the girls decide that they are ready to take Dana Richards, the glacier staring businessman home for the night. Oh man did things get hot and dramatic after that. I have to admit I am not a fan of vampire stories but Dorothy had a way of creating this short story that left me feeling like that wasn’t even an issue. I have to say this one was by far the quickest read for me because I couldn’t put it down. LOVED IT.
Ménage by Monday by Louisa Bacio Shannon called in her friend and former crush Zack to go with her to help their mutual friend Tommy. This short story covers a weekend time span where if anything was going to happen it needed to get started early. The tension between the characters really drove this story and helped create the VERY hot sex scenes. My only regret for this story was that I wished she would have saved it for a full length novel because I see so many paths these three could have taken with their history, and to be honest I wanted more. I would have to say this was right up there with Dorothy story as far as being a favorite of mine.
"I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads"
This is a collection of short stories menage relationships - each one by a different writer, which mixes up both style, taste and genre, and was a fun way to get some very steamy scenes. I liked some more than others, and particularly liked the concept in Darkest Dreams. It is tempting to say these would be perfect for a journey, but then again maybe best read when alone!
I would recommend the collection to you, both as a way of perhaps discovering new authors, but also for dipping into a variety of trios and genres.
***Recieved a free copy to read and review for Wicked Reads*** This is a set of 5 sexy short stories. they are all pretty smoking hot. i really liked them for the fact that they give you an idea of each of the style of writing. I love a steamy story and these books do not disapoint. if you like think three is better than two these books with be up your alley.
4.5 stars The entire book was an interesting anthology of ménage stories by some amazing authors that will delight readers with each story told in unique way. Imaginative and creative tales that relationships can be more than the normal equation...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Made for Two By: Kim Charmichael
Sci-Fi themed book takes place in another galaxy, where two earthlings, Pell and Markov are rescued by a female pilot, Trevini. She’s looking for her life mate and has found them, only to risk losing them when her selfish secret is confessed. On her planet, she’s considered royalty; and not many have the position of piloting their own space ship; especially a female. What happens when she reenters the galaxy on no fuel? How will her chosen life mates handle being in a three way life relationship? When Trevini confesses her selfish secret to them, she’s afraid they’ll want to return to Earth and leave her shamed on her planet.
First off, I’m not a fan of Sci-Fi; however that being said, I was surprised by this story! It deals with all the female apprehensions of being in a position of power and prestige. It still deals with emotion on every level of being in a three way relationship. It’s a short story, very intriguing and fun to read.
Gods and Goddesses find themselves wanting and desiring what immortals and mortals want. To be loved and cherished. Kiernan is the God of Darkness and his wife, Nyx is the Goddess of Light. She’s feeling too much of his darkness and has the desire for the lightness again; they’re each other’s other half, and when Kiernan awakes to find his beloved gone again; it’s only then he realizes that he’s allowing her to slip away. Nyx finds solace on Nocterra, a planet of darkness and goes there to retreat and think. She’s perplexed as to whether her beloved God of darkness will find her, and where they’ll go once they reunite. Little do they know, there’s another God, a God of Dreams watching in the shadows, Reve. He’s longed to have his own dreams come true; and with Kiernan and Nyx his own desires to have them both are causing him to push forward and unite them, even if for one night. Upon having his desires of pleasing them all, the erotic emotions leave Nyx and Reve wanting more. Kiernan is the one, who is fighting his sexual pleasure and fear of losing his beloved, Nyx. How will Kiernan and Nyx feel when they discover that Reve has suddenly left? Will Kiernan fall into the darkness that he rules? And Nyx, her light will grow bleak without her ravenous desires for Reve. Will they give into their desires and bond together?
This short story had me reeling with desire for these three Gods and Goddess. Fantasy is definitely achieved here, and leaves the reader wanting more from these delicious immortals. The delicate balance of wanting a new lover is precarious at best; however Solera does is effortlessly. Such a sexy read.
Kyra and RayAnne, two hot, sexy and erotic strippers. Left immortal and well preserved has allowed these two to perfect their routine down to a science. On a particular evening, this man had graced the upscale gentlemen’s club and had become transfixed on Kyra and RayAnne. They noticed he wasn’t just any man either; but a famous one! He had been there several nights in a row, and Kyra was lusting after this fine specimen. She wanted RayAnne to allow her to have him, so, against RayAnne’s better judgment, she allowed it. Dana, the mega rich businessman was taken back to their lair, and he was impressed with the erotic, high end apartment. This was going to be a night to remember. RayAnne controlled by her dominatrix ways set the scene with Dana and Kyra. Dana, for a mortal had the stamina of a younger man, and as the arousal sets in, the sweet smells of Kyra and Dana had RayAnne losing control that she seemed to always have a handle on. When things go too far, and her overzealous nature takes over, she drinks more of Dana’s sweet nectar and leaves him clinging to life. What do these two intend to do with this erotic, sex god? Do they off him? Do they “make” him??? The possibilities are endless, what to do?
***ABOUT THE AUTHOR***
Dorothy F. Shaw stumbled into a career in Corporate America and has spent the last 17 years climbing the corporate ladder. A fan of journaling about her troubles, she started an online blog in 2009, and poured her emotions out for all to see.
As luck would have it, the first post came out in the form of a poem. A few authors she'd met online encouraged her to write more, and in the span of 2 years she wrote over 150 poems. The poems led to short stories, which blossomed into novels. Evident from the very beginning was her voice as an author that is real and packed with wit and sarcasm. Her stories will always include complex, broken people trying to figure out how to start and keep a relationship as well as lots of hot, steamy sex. As Dorothy sees it, the journey is the best part.
When she's not writing, she's a mother, and a friend to many. She truly lives and loves in technicolor!
Tommy, Zack and Shannon are long time, high school friends from the same small town. After Tommy’s father’s death, Shannon is requested back to town. She’s just graduated university, and it’s been years since she’s seen either Tommy or Zack; so she’s anticipating seeing them, and wondering just how they’ll reconnect again. Zack, the all-around, high school stud, who is Tommy’s best friend, is now a lawyer, and seems to go through women like water. Secretly he’s wildly awaiting Shannon’s arrival, and intends on making her know what he’s expecting. Tommy, on the other hand is harboring a few secrets of his own, that he fully plans on exposing to them both. He’s in love with both of them, and wants to propose a ménage relationship. When Zack tells Shannon of his sexual encounter with Tommy, she’s thinking she’s in the way, but they make in known it’s her that they both want! For a weekend, the sex is off the charts, and seems that the rekindling of not only their friendship, but solidifies the beginning of what seems to be a promising love affair.
This was my favorite short story, and had me wanting to delve deeper into these three. I craved more and felt cheated not getting to know more about them.
***ABOUT THE AUTHOR***
In addition to working as an editor for magazines and Keith Publications and writing, Bacio teaches college classes in writing and popular culture. Bacio lives in Southern California with her adoring husband, two wonderful and challenging daughters and a houseful of pets. Her debut novel Physical Education is available through Ravenous Romance, and Amazon.
Made for Two – Kim Carmichael An intergalactic romance that will have you feeling like you were on a bit of a roller coaster. Trevini has rescued two human men from a near death situation, only to discover that she wanted these two to be her life mates. On her planet of Mersenne, each female has two male life mates. Pell and Markov fell in love with their rescuer almost as soon as they saw her. Both thought she was a figment of their imagination, or an angel sent to save them. While on a solo mission, Tre can’t seem to get anything right, and the two men she left behind never venture far from her mind. With life threatening accidents, and a good look at her inner self, she believes she needs to set her men free, even if it kills her in the process. Full of action, intrigue and romance, this book will keep your attention throughout. I had a bit of a hard time keeping the names straight at the beginning, but once if finally fell into place, quickly kept up to the fast pace set by the author. Great read.
Darkest Dreams – Solera Winters Wow! Now this is a tale from another world…literally! And I absolutely love it. Light and humorous, this story will have you believing dreams really do come true. Nyx, Goddess of the Night, has been down in the dumps lately, and can’t seem to figure out why or how to climb out of her despair. Her husband, Kiernan, God of Darkness, has been distant, and doesn’t seem to realize that there is anything wrong, neither with Nyx or their relationship. Reve, God of Dreams, has been in love with both of them for so long, he can’t remember when it all started, and now he has an opportunity to take advantage of the situation and perhaps show them just how much he loves them. The only question being…will they accept him, not only into their bed, but into their hearts and lives? So much love to go around, but will it all end happily, or will there be heartache in the future? And for who? A great short read you won’t want to miss.
Lucky Three – Chelle I think I missed the boat on this one. It was more of a short poem. I thought it was an ode as an opening to the next book. Sorry, but don’t see the point of it being in this boxed set. Could have been an awesome plot outline for a great book.
A Perfect Fit – Sascha Illyvich A cute little story of love that drags us through the upsets we sometimes encounter with our families, even leading to estrangements, as well as the love and support given and received in a relationship, whether it be a duo or a triad. Ivanka has always had problems asserting herself with her parents, and it would seem that they never seem to approve of anything she does, what she wears, and even who she dates. Their distaste for her relationship with Lila and Jesse may be the relationship breaker. The only question is…which relationship will it break? A well written story that will have you feeling frustration and anger as well as deep love, as this triad work their way to what they hope will be their happy ever after.
His Reward – Chelle Once again, a bit disappointed that this is a short erotic poem instead of a story. The concept for a great book is definitely there, only wish it was one.
Playtime – Dorothy F Shaw A cute tale of vampires and how to create a triad, this story will have you hot and bothered throughout. From almost the first page, right up to the last, the author has taken what might be conceived as a typical vampire romance and drove it up a notch or three on the heat thermometer. Be prepared to find yourself in the middle of such steam that you may require a fire extinguisher to put out the flames. Well done!
Menage by Monday – Louisa Bacio I absolutely loved this short story! Lots of heart packed into such a small package. The trio of Tommy, Zach and Shannon grew up together in their town, and literally shared almost everything, except their true feelings for each other. After the passing of Tommy’s father, he calls upon his friends to join him, to help him through the tough times shortly after the burial. He knows it’s time to open the flood gates and declare his love for them both, the only question is…when and how? Well written, my only con is that it’s not long enough. I could have read about this trio for much longer. Sometimes it’s easy to fall in love with the characters, and this is one of those times. Well done!
First this is a very interesting compilation of short stories and poetry to give the ménage-et-trois new definitions and new twists. The stories are Made for Two by Kim Carmichael, Darkest Dreams by Solera Winters, A Perfect Fit by Shascha Illyvich, Playtime by Dorothy F. Shaw, Ménage by Monday by Louisa Bacio. The poetry is Lucky Three and His Reward by Chelle.
Ranging from Science Fiction and Mythology to Paranormal and straight, hot Erotica, the stories are intense enough to maintain interest and more. It is recommended to leave enough time in the day to read through the whole compilation at one setting.
Each novella covers the concept of threesomes into practical and yet very erotic conclusions where three people find enough love and passion to want to remain together. As erotica it is accomplished in the delivery of exciting and titillating prose. From mild illusions through detailed, sexy scenes, the concept is delightfully delivered in truly amazing writing.
Short reviews of each story will follow, but the seamlessness of the compilation has to be mentioned and commended. Each tale fills a niche and gives a satisfying taste of what comes from good threesomes to the participants. To one such as this reviewer, from a polyamorous perspective, it is simply a delicious meal of several courses laid out for reading pleasure.
Made for Two presents a beautiful depiction of a three sided permanent relationship. While this is done by introducing another intelligent race of humanoids, it is so human as to be very exciting to this reviewer and the readers. The Dreams and visions fill in the gaps while the “real” time concerns come to an inevitable consummation of this pleasant ménage.
Darkest Dreams takes the reader into the mythological realms of Greece long ago. Deities of the Darkness find their needs and wants met when three of them finally let go of their preconceptions and find family in a union that is unconventional only in this society’s eyes.
A Perfect Fit brings new dimensions to the bringing the partner home to the family. Ivanka has good intentions, great ambition and the intellect to see it through. Her parents are very socially conscious and aware of how her odd “lifestyle” clashes with that. Ivanka is always breaking through a social barrier that her parents feel is totally necessary and bringing “shame” upon the family name. This only intensifies when she falls in love with Lila and Jesse. She must eventually confront the family, namely her Father, with this life choice and make a stand for what she knows is very good for her. The simple trysts add depth to the relationship between these 3 loving and gentle souls.
Playtime brings a new twist to the paranormal erotic novella. Vampires as strippers and taking that one “perfect” client too far give a new outlook to this tried and true reading pleasure. Playtime includes some BDSM which entices this reviewer to give it extra attention. The chapters-long scene central to the story gives insight to many of the pleasures and passions of BDSM play with a good power exchange dynamic thrown in for depth.
Ménage by Monday brings up several fantasies this reviewer has experienced as well as heard from many others about just such events. Old school friends find the way and the means to come together as a loving and sharing partnership through business and planning. How many have longed to find a situation where old friends become current lovers and long-term partners?
The two poetic endeavors give small, intriguing glimpses into some ménages that are simply delicate vignettes of the possibilities.
Overall a good collection of stories that work well together but also provide enough variety on the common theme to be individual as well. Well organized and each tale well written with great character development almost a necessity in this short of a format lead one to believe that more could be made for a second edition and possibly a third.
The editing and presentation enhance just as these processes should be complementary to the writing and reading result. Well-delivered the compilation comes across as a good representation of both the genres present and the writers themselves.
This series is highly recommended for the mature reader of any genre, but particularly those of erotic romance.
This box set just didn't pull me in. The shorter the book the less opportunity to build your characters, make the reader like them, and want to see them happy. Some of the stories were all over the board for me. There were plot lines that showed up and then never went anywhere. A couple of the stories just didn't feel well developed for me. The premises were interesting enough but the stories just fell a little short. Playtime by Dorothy F. Shaw was my favorite of the bunch followed by Menage by Monday by Louisa Bacio. Playtime was extremely hot and filled with sex. I would have liked to seen more story development but the relationship between the girls really did shine through. Menage by Monday had some slow moments, but I wanted to see the characters make it together. Louisa did a good job making me care about the three friends.
"I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads"
This is a collection of short stories menage relationships - each one by a different writer, which mixes up both style, taste and genre, and was a fun way to get some very steamy scenes. I liked some more than others, and particularly liked the concept in Darkest Dreams. It is tempting to say these would be perfect for a journey, but then again maybe best read when alone!
I would recommend the collection to you, both as a way of perhaps discovering new authors, but also for dipping into a variety of trios and genres.
Sizzling hot!! These stories vary, but there's one thing in common! You need a cold shower after reading them! Two Gods and a Goddess, two female vampires and one male human, three close friends, two sexy men from earth and a female from another planet, two very different ladies and their man. All very different stories...all very steamy and emotional. I enjoyed reading these stories very much. All great authors!
