Feeling Blue: I've Waited A Lifetime For You

Rate this book
As a gang member and a professional at breaking the law, Blue had encountered many lawyers, and he'd hated them each and every time. On top of them constantly using their knowledge to conspire against him, they were typically old, ugly, and a pain in his side...so why was he so captivated with Forever?

Maybe It was the fact that she was anything but old, ugly, and a pain. She was gorgeous. The most beautiful woman he'd ever seen, and a fighter. The single-handed champ in the fight for his life. Never relenting, never wavering, and never leaving him in the battle alone.

Just when he thought he was the biggest gangster, she waltzed her pretty little self into his life, proving him wrong. If he was big, she was the biggest, and Blue wanted nothing more than to prove It to her.

After a painful breakup that shattered her world, Forever rebuilt herself from the ground up, stronger, wiser, and determined never to fall for the wrong man again. She's focused, independent, and thriving in her quiet life. But when she stumbles upon Blue, the street-smart, smooth-talking thug with a past, the sparks ignite instantly. Luckily for her, she didn't technically fall for him. She walked. Walked right into the prison and right into a world she wasn't quite ready for…or was she?

In a world that says they don’t belong together, they’ll risk everything for a second chance…because sometimes, the good girl does love the thug… and this time, she’s not running.

I’ll give the author her props she’s talented. The story is interesting and definitely draws you in. But I had to give it two stars because the tone throughout was… weird. Maybe I’m sensitive or reading too deeply, but there’s a lingering thread of colorism that made me uncomfortable.

After the characters are introduced (some of whom are recurring from other books), we keep getting reminded of how Black they are and not in an empowering way. Lines like “his Black ass” or “her dark ass” or he’s light-skin with a dark skin 🥷 heart just felt off. Like… what are we doing, Miss Author?

Then there’s the way Forever is described: “little girl,” “tiny girl,” “itty bitty” we get it, she’s thin. But the constant repetition felt infantilizing and unnecessary.

There were also moments that just didn’t sit right. I’m not uptight or overly prissy, but some of the conversations and inner thoughts were straight-up vulgar and awkward. Why is the FMC lowkey turned on by her brother-in-law??? Like no matter how sexy a voice is that’s her sister’s man, and the sister is in the room! Inappropriate doesn’t even begin to cover it.

And while I understand the author was trying to explore the dynamic between the sisters, it didn’t hit right. You can’t claim to love and ride for your sister while still working under the man who publicly humiliated her. Everyone around Forever clearly sees the tension, but no one checks Marcellus? Y’all love her or not? Everyone keeps describing her as sweet and passive, but basically lets her get bullied in peace. The only ones who stood on business were Zurich and Auto.

I'm glad I enjoyed this story without having to read the recommended books for a backstory for the main characters. The book was not what I expected but I was surprised I enjoyed it. I think it's because I like this authors style of writing. I can actually visualise the characters and hear them. The story ended with a few cliffhangers and a "to be continued" so I wished I'd waited until all the books were released lol I hate waiting.

I liked Blue and Forever's relationship despite it being repetitive. Basically the repetition of her being a lawyer and him being a gang member. Every second we were reminded lol that was annoying.

And the void of any obstacles- like I would've loved to see a big argument at Goody's concert but Blue got over the betrayal really fast. He really was a simp.

The action came from the POVs of the other characters drama. So, it wasn't solely focused on their budding intense relationship.

The 'good girl bad boy' trope is not really my thing but I did enjoy this story.

Feeling Blue

I have my qualms about Forever and Blue because they are so different. I mean she’s a lawyer, he’s a convict and a banger. She’s in Cali, he’s in Miami. But their love seems so real and she deserves a man who is all about her after dealing with Marcellus. I always hated how close their families were to the object of her pain. So with all of that the gang seemed like a safer place. That ending has me blowed. Like how could Blue put himself in such a position? And where is Marcellus…his last scene has me wondering. I love Zurich and his sisters bond. I hope Pat saves her mean ass!

First Read By Author

Where do I start! This books has an unlimited amount of drama and it is never ending. Blue isn’t the person anyone believes Forever should be with, but she wants him and cares about him. Loving Blue will come with a lot of Rama that she never expected and possible heartache she never wanted to experience again. There are a lot of characters and the names are similar so sometimes I got a little confused. The book does have potential because the drama is great.

It is so good to have the queen of hood romance back😍!! Ok now Blue as usual is bringing his calm, quiet, dominant BDE!! I love how both are standing ten toes behind each other!! Now if they can just weather the storm their love will be that fairytale love I can’t wait!! I hope my girl Forever doesn’t let the thot Journey come between her and her Blue-Blue!! I peeped Pat and Zurena is he getting a book?! I can’t wait to see how it unfolds. Five Stars Ms. A’zayler!!🥰

Blue and always

Forever was a bomb ass lawyer who met the love of her life while he was on trial for a charge of. Forever was a good girl but Blue was a street dude but they connected on so many levels. I loved how he loved her and was always showing her. However they both have a past that want let go. This book is great so don’t let the slow start discourage you
