Ascendant: A Mira Raiden Adventure

Rate this book
Finding Atlantis is just the beginning... Psychic ex-spy Mira Raiden's discovery of the tomb of an Atlantean king, is just the first piece in a puzzle that will launch her on a journey to find the Trinity--an ancient device with the power to remake the world. But Mira is not alone in her search for the Trinity. Arrayed against her is an unholy alliance of a team of brutish mercenaries; the beautiful but deadly daughter of Mira's former mentor; a manipulative grave robber, risen from the dead; and the heirs of the greatest evil the world has ever known. To find the Trinity and prevent the awakening of a horror beyond comprehension, Mira will travel to the ends of the earth, and into the darkest corners of a world that existed before history. *THIS BOOK WAS ORIGINALLY PUBLISHED UNDER THE TITLE "DARK ASCENDANT." I started this book and didn't want to put it down. I am hooked on certain soap operas, and missed my soap reading this book.
It is full of non stop action. There is no chance of getting bored with this one. Mira Raider is our adventurer that is searching for the Atlantis and the treasures it will hold. She uses her psychic powers to find the treasure.

I picked up Descendant (book 2) while I was still reading this one. Just wanted to continue the story. I wish Sean would hurry up and get book 3 finished.

This book was nonstop action from beginning to end. There was essentially a running gun battle for almost 300 pages. Exhausting? Yes. Fun? Heck yes. Mira Raiden is indestructible to the point of unbelievable but it's fiction and I tend to overlook a lot in this genre. What I didn't care for was the over-the-top turn it took at the end. The metamorphosis of the villain left me scratching my head but, whatever. It's a wild ride that requires some serious suspension of belief but I enjoyed it hence the 4 stars.

Let's face it, if you read adventure stories for very long, you've stumbled across an Atlantis tale or two... or two dozen.

But this is unlike any other Atlantis tale you've ever read, I can almost guarantee you that. I've read Atlantis tales from Clive Cussler, David Wood, Jeremy Robinson, and many MANY others, and other than Robinson's Antarktos Rising/ Last Hunter tale, this is hands down the best of the bunch. Sean is an excellent author, and this is easily my favorite story from him. So go ahead and buy it - you won't be disappointed, and we may yet get to see how this adventure ends!

An excellent mix of adventure, action and the supernatural. It is great to see the lead character, Mira, such a strong female. I couldn't put it down, I am definitely looking forward to the next instalment. Pick up this book, you won't be sorry.

Cover to cover action that I could not put down. I loved that it was based on the legends of Atlantis and found the details fascinating. This was a great adventure that I can't wait to continue in book #2!

Fast paced,exciting, and inventive.

Unlike other action/archeology novels I have read, this one has a very interesting premise and a different twist on some familiar mythology. Well written and leaving you with a desire for more.
