I received an Advance Reader Copy of this book from Devon R. Kane in exchange for an honest review. My intentions are to write feedback that reflects my genuine thoughts and is written with the book’s genre and target audience in mind. I aim to review fairly and respectfully, focusing on the story’s purpose.
Devon R. Kane's Kronological Obsession may very well be your next obsession, especially if you enjoy Navessa Allen's Lights Out, J.T. Geissinger's Pen Pal, Emily McIntire's Hooked, and a sprinkle of Greek mythology.
Chronos is the Greek Titan God of Time, but his past actions have led him to be exiled and live amongst the mortals on Earth with some of his powers. As he awaits the council's decision on whether Chronos is allowed back, he moonlights as Kane Ronso, a businessman with a luxury watch brand Chronos Lux and an upscale restaurant. Nora Wolff is a waitress/bartender working for a giant Human Resource problem. When Nora enters Chronos Lux to get her father's broken watch fixed, Kane makes it his mission to know who she is, for she is his. Despite barely conversing with the other, the magnetic pull between them causes them to consume every waking moment and thoughts about the other, soon leading to obsession. When Kane decides he needs Nora, he does whatever it takes to have her in her life. Soon, their attraction for one another is too much for either to ignore.
This story is a dark romance, so please read the trigger warnings and decide whether you are fine with the trigger warnings before proceeding. Kane and Nora's relationship is hot and spicy. The banter between the two is great. They immediately became so feral and unhinged for each other, that even before they entered a relationship, you could tell how deep they've fallen for the other, and their actions show it. I was entertained throughout the entire story, whether it focused on our main characters, or with side characters. It flowed so well that time flies by as you read their story. The author knows her characters well, so much that you don't question their actions, but understand why they would do that. Nora's relationship with her best friend Lynn is great. Their banter is heartfelt and funny. Even Lynn's relationship with Jace is funny. I know this is a standalone story, but I wouldn't mind a spin-off or a novella. He may be an immortal God and manipulate time, but no amount of time will diminish his love for Nora.
