Phenomenal book. Heather incorporates personal and political stories alongside a scientific understanding of how social systems manifest. Her writing is both poetic and analytical, weaving together practical tools and processes with a deeper systemic lens.

What really stood out to me was how much this book expanded my understanding of states, governments, social groups, and dictatorships. It gave me a language and framework to recognize patterns I’ve seen but hadn’t fully understood, not just in society, but in myself and the people around me.

Couldn’t recommend this book more.

“Taking the focus from the dictator requires the creation of a resistance that inspires public trust and excitement. It is not enough to fight against something; to be inspired, people need to be fighting for something.”
