'Sanctuary' - book six of the Contamination series - reacquaints us with survivors Dan, Meredith, Quinn and John. In addition, a new survivor named "Tim" is welcomed into the fold after Meredith and John rescue him from the top of a building surrounded by the infected. Unfortunately, what they do not know is he is also an ex white-coat and very proud psycho killer all rolled into one. All I could think about after he was introduced was the Talking Heads song: 'Psycho Killer' as I prayed they would figure out his agenda in time to "Run, run, run run, run away." An exceptionally suspenseful and exciting episode. Narrator Troy Duran delivers another top-notch performance. Up next: 'Resistance' (Contamination, #7)
What a non-stop engrossing read! I'm warning people, unless you have a long weekend to read and finish the series, y+ PMou'll want to grab a audio version! This is the series book that'll have you sitting up way pass your bedtime!
I stared this and could not put it down. I really enjoyed it. There was something that different around every corner. If you star this make sure you have some extra time.
Outstanding series so far. I am getting ready to read the next book and hope that it is going to be just as good. I am glad that the survivors are being reunited with each other.
Book 6 I felt was a bit rushed towards the end, I was hoping for more of a story from when they are safe to building the house ( that’s only coz I didn’t want the books to end lol ) But!!....What a change in the endings to other Zombie/Apocalypse books I have either read or listened to! Well done T.W. Piperbrook I like it 👍🏼 I also like that the dog survives, normally the dogs is killed in zombie books, this makes me love this series even more 👌🏼🐾🐾 Then comes the realisation that this series has come to an end 😱🤯☹️🥺😭 .......
...Til I remember I have book 7 still to read 😃😁🥳📚🧟♀️🧟♂️🤓🐛📖 ..... Which am now listening to before I go to sleep 🧟♀️ 🧟♂️ nothing better than falling asleep listening to a good zombie apocalypse audiobook
I will defo be reading/listening this series again 🧟♀️🧟♂️📚🐛🤓📖
This 6th book in the contamination series seemed shorter than the others but that might have been because it was engrossing.
This part of the series dealt with Dan, his daughter Quinn, his sister-in-law Meredith, and her fiancee John.
I will say that the only fault I had with this part of the story that you would have thought with what Dan and Quinn had gone through on their journey (and Dan being a police officer) that they would have stopped taking everyone they met at face value and cultivated more than a little suspicion!
I don't know how many times they trusted survivors only to wind up in more danger than they were in. I will say it's getting a bit old. It was fine at first but one would think they would have learned after 1st, the 2nd, or 3rd time. But no and this time the man they trusted was one of the worse.
Yes, one of the companions died. :(
But the book ends on a good note with the U.S. Army setting up a command/rescue post.
This review almost turned out to be a hate filled letter based on what may or may not have happened to my favorite character in the book.
Then it dawned on me. I have a favorite character. How often do you find a book where you're rooting for people. Mr Piperbrook has done that with this series. Hats off to you.
Reading through book six was somewhat of a scary process. Especially during today’s time. I could envision the events described as actual occurrences. All it would take is someone crazy enough to put to start to make it a reality. Our world is slot more frail than we would like to believe.
I have the omnibus edition of this series but just wanted to say that story six is well-written and action-packed, where Dan, Quinn, Meredith and John face all manner of hazards and battles.
Great characters and plot and sense of place...very well done.
this book followed Dan and Quinn through the next part of their journey hoping to find safety by there is danger within their group. The pace of the story was fast and keeps you guessing right to the end. On to book 7!!
I'm about to start book 7 and would like you and all others to know I've enjoyed this entire Series. I've read thousands of books and yours are a few of the best. Please keep writing because I'll keep reading.
This review is from: Contamination 6: Sanctuary (Contamination Post-Apocalyptic Zombie Series) I just finished all six books in the "Contamination" Series. What a ride! the basic premise of this tale is a common one but, by no means is this a Common Story. Nope, I just meant that the driving force here is the Lust for Power and Control. Once again some Power-mad idiot believes the best way to solve "Social Problems" is to destroy Society and start fresh. Of course, the Idiot-in-charge of the other Power-mad-idiots has promised a "piece-of-the-action" to them after they've killed everyone off. Should this sinister plot succeed, you have to wonder if these Idiots have thought through how and what they're going to control. This time the plan to purify the world is to spread a deadly Virus into the population through "Contaminated" foods and beverages. What the Head Idiot hasn't expected is that there will be some small number of survivors who are immune to this virus that has, thus far, been resistant to all attempts to cure or immunize against it. Unfortunately, some of the survivors see this as an opportunity to capitalize on the breakdown of normal limits of behavior as they become another sadistic, cruel and deadly threat. Our early group of survivors have friends and family in various parts of the country and/or desire to get somewhere other than the Salvage Yard they initially seek refuge in. Rather than remaining together and continuing to fight off both the "infected-creatures" (who are bent on devouring them with their nearly super-human strength and ability to survive all but the deadly "Head-Shot") AND, the Agents of the Leader responsible for the Contamination plan. These Agents now have to seek out and destroy the survivors who are apparently immune to the Virus. The story is told through the experiences of the Salvage Yard group as they go their separate ways. I don't know if other reader's will experience the same thoughts and concerns I did but I have to admit I was uncomfortable with myself. I'd like to believe I would be one of the heroic "Good-Guys" but I frequently wondered how tempted I'd be by "The-Dark-Side". Would I look out for number one at the expense of others? Or, would I try to share precious and dwindling resources with others in order to gain strength-of-numbers. There are numerous examples in the various stories for the different groups of survivors tracked in the six books in this series. I never like to give away an ending so I'll just say I very much like the conclusion of this series and that it gives the possibility for some more people's experiences. Review by "THE HOLEY ONE"
Dan, John, Meredith, and Quinn decide it’s time to leave the farmhouse to search for safer surroundings. Spotting a helicopter in the distance they believe the military may have a camp near a town called Abbottsville. Off they go to check it out. They pick up another survivor along the way. Little do they know they have invited a dangerous psychotic into their midst named Tim. The tale continues as they move on, discovering and then dealing with Tim. As were the prior volumes, good story with interesting and likable characters.
Although I'm sad to see it all come to a end, i have to say i am pleased with the ending overall. Can't wait to read the next standalone book in the "contamination" realm. Looking forward to it. Enjoyed the series from start to finish. I recommend it to anyone who likes the zombie genre.
By now you know what to expect in this series as after all this is book 6. That said this instalment was a damn good read with plenty of pace and character action. A few deaths a few close shaves and a conclusion to the main story arc. If he writes more stand alone books (and he has said he will) I look forward to them.
This book was a real page turner. Almost all the contamination series was. The basic instinct for survival really hits home in this book and there are a few surprises. I could probably stop here but I'm going to get the stand alone book which should be book 7. I'm not a fan of zombie tales but this series was excellent.
Tim is one sick puppy! And there are more out there. It's like the normal people are scarier than zombies. I liked the end, there is a resolution! That give us hope if/when the apocalypse happens. Dan is resilient to the end, he didn't stop at nothing to rescue his family.
I chose 5 for the rating because I loved the book. It showed that no matter how hurt you are that you will keep on fighting to survive to protect the ones that you love. I would recommend this book to any one that loves zombies. Remember to always read the other books in the series.
Suspenseful twist, you can't read fast enough , finished the whole book in one sitting , wonderful writer truly imaginative! If you like zombie books? buy it! Now I'm off to read the werewolf books by this writer
