This book can be used for several different mediums: I will use what I learned for fabric art and painting. I did not know primary colors are no longer just red, blue and yellow but research has found a new color wheel (Ives) to maximize the use of colors whether it is monochromatic, complementary, or split complimentary. The book gives many photographic examples of quilts to explain the element of color use and design. It also gives basic instructions how to improve fabric art and landscape quilts (ie. use of perspective and shadows). It does take quite a bit of time to look back though pages to see the identified quilts explaining the concepts but it was time well spent. If you are looking to improve your art through the elements of design this book is highly recommended.

I found this book very educational and inspirational, providing lots of ideas for color play in my quilt blocks to make them better, to make some sections pop and give the block dimension!
