This is the first book of the series I read. The previous books seemed to have FMC's that (for me) were too strong, too independent and too.... cold? The book following this one (for the last Griffith brother) seems to have a similar type of FMC. Brooke however, the FMC in Downpour, was quite the opposite. She is a great "sunshine". Not overly obnoxious. Ray, the MMC, is a grumpy after going through a life changing accident bull riding. The book was a slow burn but a faster slow burn if that makes sense to anyone. It had spice but not, ahem, descriptive. There was no OW drama and no cheating. The focus was mainly on Ray's story, Ray's growth, Ray's family etc. There wasn't a lot personal growth stuff for Brooke but it didn't necessarily feel lacking. Overall, I liked the book. I'm happy I read it and I'd recommend it to others.
